Hey, now's as good a time as any to mention that Perry's probably going to be heading even further west, probably North Dakota, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California. Maybe a little Idaho in there.

If you've got any landmarks you wanna suggest that a native would think of that are OLDER than 1969, drop 'em in the comments, and I'll compare them to the route and see if we can use any of 'em. Sound fun?

So Berkeley got its national reputation in the 60s and 70s but the city has always been bohemian and some of the campuses pre 60’s history is really interesting. Both for cool science stuff but also for art and literature and religious studies. across the bay there is the lovely particle collider at Stanford.

The Willamette Falls in Oregon is the Largest Waterfall by volume in the Northwestern United States and like 15th or 17th largest in the world or something. There's also Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge is the tallest Waterfall in Oregon. There's also Mount Hood which is also a Volcano, so you could have Perry cause it to erupt.

2023-08-29 13:42:32 I can't imagine much in South Dakota before 1969 besides Sioux Falls that would have escaped a lot of Nukes headed for mount Rushmore. It's a pretty east river west river state and you got 200 miles between the black hills or Sioux Falls and the river. Minneapolis/Saint Paul wasn't mentioned that I can remember. Which is really weird as it's halfway between Chicago and North Dakota with a few million people in the metro, even 1969. The state capital and Sain Paul's cathedral would have been good landmarks there. The really funny thing would be to half had it forgotten about because a minder/technopath had such insanely strong electromagnetic powers and a desire to ignore the end of the world that it just sort of advanced parrellel, but cut off to other cities. With historical innovations like Gopher (protocol) internet coming out of the city showing it's capability to progress parrellel to the other cities. An invisible city like Wakanda, but for Midwesterners. I don't know if it would be tasteless to have Prince be the mayor or just plain fun.

Redwood forests along the southern Oregon and northern California coasts. A sea of mammoth trees that were later cut down.
