A lot of people have told me to take a break if I need one, and I think that's probably a pretty good idea.

So here's the plan.

The story is beginning to mature and change, and it's kind of going into more of a kingdom-building direction. I don't know how to write those, exactly, and I also don't have a solid grasp of plot going forward.

So I'm going to take the first seven days of April off. Up until that point, I'll keep writing chapters as usual, but when April rolls around, I'm going to take time off. This should give you an opportunity to drop out before the April Charge comes by and not feel like it came out of nowhere.

I won't be doing nothing, though. I'm going to spend some of those seven days hashing out the plot for the next 20-80 chapters moving forward, and work on reading some Kingdom building stories to see if I can incorporate some of their style into my own.

If you want, you can help by either joining the discord for brainstorming, or putting suggestions for well-written Kingdom Building stories in the comments. I need to study them.

If you're a 1-5$ subscriber, this won't affect you, since the public release will continue during that one week.

Oh right, the discord.

Some good kingdom builder storys I like are The land- small town/village, chrysalis- city builder and emerilia- nation builder/ Guild. It all really depends on what size and how involved you want the main character to be. I prefer the hands off style, another is defiance of The Fall. Most all of these can be found on royal Road

Gnomes rule for all you litrpg fans and mist villagers

oh god, no offense, but The Land has gone off the rails hardcore. i do not recommend it. also the author is a complete asshole who doesn't need anymore money thrown his way.

the dude literally calls himself the father of american litrpg (hint, he's not even close) and is trying to trademark the term LitRPG...

He just got a girlfriend, that generally ruins all male hobbies what with their unreasonable demands of time and money. Basically it's natural that his released are slower and lower quality. I still hold hope for the next book. Life's struggles don't detract from the first 5 though. We don't hate Highlander because of the one that does not exist, or the matrix for 2 and 3

Minor mistake it's not emerilia the first book's called the trapped mind Project

Enlightened Empire is pretty OK. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/20920/enlightened-empire

Read The Mountain Lord. It's Grimdark story in a early renaissance setting where muskets are coming into the fold. You get to see interplays between the churchs, nobles, and the summoned heroes. As well as managing a rundown barony and living with the consequence of pissing off a lord or two. There is allot of sexism, xenophobia, racism, slavery and worse of all, bad dental hygiene! The story have balls. Also the fact the MC isn't some teenage, 5'4 midget, introverted, weeb, loser with no prospect originally in your typical portal fantasy helps a ton and one of the reason I got hooked with it in the first place.

There is a Chinese translation story called Release That Witch that is entirely kingdom building and I enjoyed very much.

Not LITRPG but you could try some alternate history. Try the novel 1632 https://www.baen.com/1632.html

I never comment much. But for kingdom building I would recommend a japanese light novel called Seven. It's very good, it deals a lot with politics, nobles, schemes and usurpation of power. I often compare it to this story as both main characters are teenagers, they have more then one partner and their power systems are very unique. My only complaint is that the story doesn't really pick up untill volume 5 or 6 out of 20? (Somewhere close to that), which is when the main character decides to leave his country to acquire the military and political power necessary to take down his Nemesis, which remembers me a bit of the Flesh, as his Nemesis can brainwash people and reanimate their corpses. Second downside is that it has some general anime troupes going on and the main character is kind of useless untill volume 2 or 3? There is a canon reason for that which is explained way later in the history, but it can be very annoying to read untill he Man's up a little.

yeah. his writing isn't bad, and the plot is pretty decent, but his main character is the overeager musclebound immature overgrown man-child that the author really seems to be some days. though admittedly the author is not nearly so bad as the MC. (though the author is still pretty bad,) i mean, black stars, there was a good 6000+ word section about the MC having diarrhea and talking about shiting.

Mentioned in discord, but Brandon Sanderson in general and mistborn in specific is quite good though not a perfect fit.

Dunno. Switching from a plot-armor driven OP... 'secret villian?' to a kingdom building story. The last time you did this you torched L.A., the story, and your readership. It never recovered. Normally I would point out the negative population trend built into the story's driving plot, but... you did that already with L.A. Resurrection would be keen. Good ol' fashion Lazarus Pit. I mean, the System's marking souls and faking the Wheel of Reincarnation. Take advantage of that. You have a corpse, semi-sentiment nano-bots, and the "anything goo". The only thing left is the ability to tie the soul to a body.

Focus on Kingdom Building? Bleh. Ohh well, it was fun while it lasted, but I despise that style of story. Good luck with your story, dude.

Arnon Parenti

You don't need kingdom building skills when you have good advisers, I would let all these princesses build his kingdoms while Cal is out cpnquering more city states and plundering their princess throves

SunderGoldmane

There is a Korean translated novel called Isaac that has a good and despicable MC and kingdom building. The translation is on Lightnovembastion.com also Arnon’s point is valid, you can come up with things Calvin want his kingdom to have, accomplish, or look like and hand it over to the princess council. Allows you to right the concepts of kingdom building while not spending all your writing investment into the details.

Try listening to cast under an alien sun/destinys crucible series really nice flip on kingdom building whilst keeping the story interesting and grounded
