So something I've not decided on is the behavior of the hybrid skill as it relates to the 18-skill limit. I've come up with two ideas, and had one floated to me, so I'll put them up here.

1. The hybrid skill is it's own skill, and takes up a slot, which allows it to advance and diverge from the parent skills by unlocking it's own abilities and mutations.

2. The hybrid skill does not consume a skill slot, but it does not gain levels or grant abilities. any abilities gained by a parent skill apply to the hybrid skill. As they continue to grow, this skill grows.

3. The hybrid skill consumes the Parent skills, and frees up a skill slot by nesting them together, in exchange for only allowing the selection of one of the parent's abilities per 5 levels.

Each of them have trade-offs, and I'm down with running whatever. It boils down to a power vs versatility trade off. +1, 0, -1 skill slots. if the slot is used up, all three skills advance and grant abilities, allowing a great deal of power and growth. If the slot stays neutral, he basically just unlocked a simple Ability, rather than it's own skill.

and if he gains a free skill slot through skill cannibalism, that's an extra space for another magic IN EXCHANGE for the skill giving 1/3 the total amount of abilities they could have as separate, individual skills.

Choose Wisely.
