So the reason Beladia was cut off, and quite possibly the driving force behind the entire series is...One of the gods, and i'm not sure which, wants to die.

The gods, the only way they can die is If the entire system of the Inner Spheres is annihilated, and so this one suicidal one is trying to take everyone with him/her. It could be the god of death,who wants to try it themself, or the twin gods of fate, who knows.

of course the main character is very far away from tangling with them, so this is far far in the future, but knowing who is doing what would really help, cuz right now, all i got is the why.
