Movement (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone!
So I managed to get the new writing tools to the writers. We managed to get a test sequence working. They immediately found a few areas I need to fix/add a few details.
However, the good news it's I have it working in an external build. They are going to need some time to come to terms with the system and understand how to get the best out of it.
They have also been busy getting new dialogue pieces in for all the random NPC's so they with have customised dialogue based on how you look to them. We have refined that system so the content is going in much more smoothly. Soon they should have most of the University NPC's with some custom dialogue.
Obviously content wise I have to follow the writers lead so for the moment the story is on pause while they add the dynamic NPC dialogue. This will be a big help for things feeling alive and like they will respond to your diapers.
I needed a break from all the story/workflow related stuff. Working on one area for too long reduces my creativity/problem solving. I decided to work on another important aspect.
So the environments (as I'm sure you know) are quite large so an important component is going to be a few movement based abilities/tools. (Also I'm getting sick of walking everywhere) So I decided to refresh my mind and work on a "bike" concept.
I've needed to clean up the movement for a little while as I've always had alot of old bits and pieces lying around from previous demos. After cleaing things up I saw that there was a not too hard way to put in different movement types.
Currently I put in a scooter because I wanted something suitibly childish and not too complex. But I just realised today that I think I can turn this into an item rather than in pokemon where there is only one "Bike". If I make these items I can create a whole bunch of different ways of moving.
This opens up a whole bunch of options. This is a great use for the toy store I can turn it into the vehicle store. It could have a whole bunch of toys you can use/ride on.
So my job this week is to clean up this movment code and make it a generic item. Then I want to test a couple different "vehicle ideas". Already I'm thinking of a bunch of cool ideas like a bouncing ball you could ride on or a classic toy car, maybe a tricycle? Would a drivable pram be too strange?
If you have any good vehicle ideas drop them below! Obviously I want to keep them very toy/baby!
