SoundCloud and the Future of the Podcast! (Patreon)

Thanks to your generous support, we are over our first milestone! If you recall, we wanted to continue to produce the podcast and even make it available on SoundCloud. Well, I think you know just by reading the title that as of today all our episodes are available on our new SoundCloud page! Just head on over to https://soundcloud.com/nerdsyncpodcast and you can start listening, liking, resharing, and commenting on our podcasts! So why did we choose SoundCloud? Well to be honest, iTunes doesn't have a lot of ways for you listeners to get involved. There's no commenting or liking or any sort of interaction. It's really just passive listening instead of active engagement. Stitcher is better, but it can be a little tricky to navigate sometimes. That's why we started uploading full podcasts to YouTube. We wanted to give you the ability to comment directly on the podcasts and start conversations (and correct us when we are often wrong about things). With SoundCloud, we wanted to merge the best of everything into one area. You can follow our feed so you never miss an episode. You can like and share the videos with ease. And, most importantly, you can comment directly on the episodes! You can even comment on a very specific time of the episode, and people will see your comment as they listen to that point. There's a lot of added social aspects that podcasting struggles with. We hope you enjoy the podcasts even more on SoundCloud! But what does this mean for the podcast? All our current episodes will still be available for download and streaming on iTunes and Stitcher, but we might pull them off of YouTube. That is, stop releasing full episodes to YouTube. We are playing around with the idea of taking 5-10 minute clips from the new episodes and doing some very simple animation or even just a slideshow of pictures relating to what we are talking about as a preview to the full episode that you can listen to on iTunes, Stitcher, or SoundCloud. If you are an animator, or just want to do some simple editing of picture slideshows or something for the podcast clip videos, please let us know! We'd love to get more people involved in NerdSync. And if you are absolutely opposed to the idea of the full podcast episodes being taken off of YouTube, don't hesitate to give us your feedback.
