One of my old hdd started to fail, which has probably already seen 3 assemblies of computers. Its operating time is over 7 years. I decided to make a backup of the most important files from this disk, just in case, and came across an archive of my source maps, which I have been keeping since 2009!
Here are the source files for the Mass Effect 3 map. I updated this project three times. I even wanted to continue it (this can be seen from the date of 2017) but it was not destined to come true.
For 12 years I have been building maps and models for this engine and I still haven't bothered with it. The only problem is that the engine is totally outdated. I am looking forward to the release of s&box.
For those who do not know what s & box is: this is a game, the heir to garry's mod, but already on Source Engine 2. There will also be a Source Filmmaker running on a new modern engine. It will be 2in1. I won't need to downgrade models or maps. It will be possible to record any gameplay in sandbox mode and then edit it in sfm !!!
In short, these are huge opportunities, new limits. The ability to create models of 4 million polygons (possibly more). Over 1000 bones per model. Cloth simulation, new lighting, sfm now allows you to create a point light source and much more.
Early development is in progress at the moment. In july I was able to get the key, but I have very little time to learn new tools, I have to devote most of my time to Patreon.
At the moment, the key can only be obtained by people who have gmod on their account and many different highly rated works in the workshop (of course for gmod).
Okay... Something got me carried away. I just remembered how many years I have been doing this and how I suffer when I realize that I cannot implement something because of the outdated engine. We hope and look forward to a bright future. 😁
Heck. We'll have to save up for a new HDD...
