I feel like for this first round most of the groups didn’t understand the type of show they were on and the type of performances that were expected from them, they didn’t come in ready to compete, just put on regular music show performances, just 2 groups maybe 3 put in that fire. Luckily after this they all get get their game on

Oh My Girl debuted towards the end of 2015, with Secret Garden releasing in Jan 2018. It is a very significant song to them on a personal level (as they explain on the show) as it gave them their first music show win - the struggle of waiting for so long is extremely difficult on groups since the longer it goes the harder it seems it will be to win one, and the longer a group goes without winning one, the more their company will feel that they are never going to make it and might invest less and less in future comebacks - thus creating a vicious cycle of less and less exposure and thus less and less chance to pick up that first win. For perspective, Idle took their first win home 21 days after debut. Queendom was definitely huge for Oh My Girl's popularity, even though they didn't release something new until Nonstop just recently - and at my last count, it has already picked up 8 music show wins. To be fair, this style of Oh My Girl's music and Lovelyz's music is pretty similar - the two groups actually mention how they have similar styles. And talking about tough to follow, they decided the cue sheet themselves - all the groups (except Idle, who weren't there) were able to put their names down in whichever order they desired. Mamamoo wanted to go first; it's considered best, generally, to go last, since you leave the resonating impact that people are most likely to remember that way.
