FYI, about SM & lightsticks...Super Junior, SHINee, and TVXQ! also did not get lightsticks til a couple years ago. So I think the reason why they & Girls Generation didn't was cause they all debuted & made it big before lightsticks were a thing. Yes, they were all long overdue but for a long time EXO was the only group in the company with a lightstick. Seasons Greetings are a special package that come out every year for certain groups with yearly calendars, dvds, cards, and random goodies.

Do you think there’s any validity in anything he said here? I know I’ve heard that woman are treated like crap compared to male idols.

I don’t think YG is sexist when it comes to comebacks, i mean his most successful group BigBang who has been in the industry for 13 years and who basically made YG (says YG himself) has only 3 full albums..... he’s just trash. Also he’s sexist on other things tho

But wouldn't YG make more money if he let his groups especially the most popular ones have comebacks?? He makes no sense. 😅 And yeah Yg is sexist for a bunch of things, the way he treated 2ne1 girls I won't forgive him, hes just creepy (he is soo involved in shady things). The sexualization and short clothes make me uncomfortable bc many idols usually dont have the power to go against what the company wants them to do, its not how it is with an american artist and their label for instance. In kpop their bodies are more heavily regulated. In many many performances of many, many groups you can see the girls pulling their shorts or skirts down and being visibly uncomfortable. Also there's a handful trainees from different companies that claim to have been sexually harassed by superiors. Idops can and have been harassed by "fans" too. Sexual harassment as a whole is swept under the rug in Korea which is still a very sexist country, which is very sad. Apparently a guy masturbated in and screamed sexist things in momolands fan meeting last week, like wtf. Many people didn't even know about it until Twitter fans started a hashtag. (In Japan, a j-idol was sexually assaulted in her own home by a "fan" and her management made her publicly apologize. this still makes my blood boil). And hmm Big Hit not debuting girl groups bc of what one woman did? I highly doubt that they would stop debuting boy groups if one guy screwed up 🤷🏻‍♀️ Another thing that is getting better at least is the concepts. Before 2ne1 girl groups had to be cute and couldn't be badass and have hard hitting choreo. When it comes to choreo most of the groups still don't but if they do it's not as frouned upon as it was back then. Honestly what happens with idols is a reflection of society, unfortunately, and society still has a long way to go.

This video didnt drive the point well. They talk too slow and say too many unnecessary details. There's way better examples.
