Chapter 2 – Desire Grows, Ashes Scattered

In the basement home of the Hestia Familia, Bell was about to head out for another day in the Dungeon.

“Here, Bell, your lunch.” Hestia smiled as she handed Bell the neatly packed lunch that she’d made him.

Bell accepted the lunch with a warm smile, carefully placing it in his backpack. “Thank you, Hestia.” He pulled the backpack onto his back and then leaned in to kiss Hestia’s lips.

“Mmm…” Hestia made a cute noise as she enjoyed the kiss. It had become a normal thing for the couple to kiss every morning before Bell went off to the Dungeon; something Hestia was thrilled with. “Have a good day, Bell.” She giggled softly.

“I’ll see you tonight, Hestia.” Bell gently leaned his forehead against Hestia’s and pulled her into a warm hug for a moment. After they separated, Bell headed up the stairs and was soon out of the church entirely.

Hestia sighed a little as she prepared to head to work herself. ‘Bell’s working so hard for our Familia…for his dreams…for me. But I haven’t been able to do anything close to god-like for him in return.’ She lamented her lack of ability to give Bell everything he could possibly need. He deserved it all, in her opinion, but they simply didn’t have the money to afford everything that entailed. “Time for work.” Hestia shook herself, knowing that she couldn’t keep thinking about her lacking assistance (in her eyes) as a Goddess.

The thought would still linger in the back of her mind though.

-Dungeon ~ Fourth Floor-

“Shhhrrraaa!” The Dungeon Lizard hissed at Bell. Its ambush had failed as Bell leapt away from the Monster when it dropped down from the ceiling.

“Yah!” Bell swung his left arm forward, the trailing cloud of black ashes quickly heated up to a burning red-orange color before a wave of cinder bullets tore through the Dungeon Lizard. The Monster collapsed to the stone floor, dead, with chunks of its flesh blasted off of it from the barrage. Bell looked around, but not seeing any other Monsters in the corridor, he let his spell fade. “This makes fifteen so far today.” He smiled at his progress as he pulled out his knife to harvest the Dungeon Lizard.

After collecting the Magic Stone, Bell continued on his path through the Dungeon, hoping to find some more Monsters.

It didn’t take him too long to find more.

“Bark!”

“Grrrr!”

“Graah!”

“Rrrrnnh!”

Bell had his shortsword at the ready as he faced down the four Kobolds.

The Monsters charged at Bell all at once, claws raised and snarling jaws wide open.

A quick thrust of his sword killed the first Kobold, the blade passing through its neck. Bell pulled the shortsword back and made a quick sidestep to get out of the line of attack from the second Kobold. He cut through its side, leaving a massive wound on the Monster. The third Kobold was already on him though and Bell barely managed to turn his body so that his armor would take the swipe from the Kobold’s claws.

“Hah!” Bell stabbed his blade into the third Kobold’s gut and then violently tore it sideways, gutting the Monster in a spray of blood. The fourth Kobold landed a light claw swipe on Bell’s forearm, making him hiss in pain. “Take this!” He decapitated the Kobold while it was slightly off balance and overextended from its swing. The dog-head fell to the stone floor a short distance from where the body collapsed. “Haaah…” Bell let out a long exhale. He looked at the light scratches that he’d gotten and saw they were bleeding just slightly. “Not too bad… Four on one still isn’t easy.” But being self-taught, Bell knew that would be an issue until he got a lot of experience under his belt.

He cleaned the blood from his sword and sheathed it; before pulling out his knife and cutting open the first Kobold. He was at least getting pretty good at harvesting Magic Stones. The first Kobold crumbled to white ash and Bell moved onto the second. Repeating the process, Bell pulled out the second small Magic Stone and placed it in his hip pouch. As the body turned to white ash, a black claw was left behind.

“A Drop Item!” Bell smiled as he quickly collected the Kobold Nail and put it into his backpack. “That was lucky!” He moved over to the third Kobold with a hopeful smile, but neither of the two remaining Kobolds left behind a Drop Item. “Well, can’t get one every time.” Bell shrugged as he headed further into the Fourth Floor.

Down another corridor, taking a left turn, Bell spotted a group of three Goblins. The three Monsters saw him at the same time and started snarling and shrieking as they rushed towards him.

“Geee!”

“Heek!”

“Grah!”

“Remnants of the Sacred Flame, alight on the wind and scatter!” Bell chanted and the black ashes poured from his left hand and arm. The cloud of ashes compressed down as Bell reached into it. “Hup!” With a toss, three black blades were sent hurtling at the charging Goblins.

“Guakh!” One Goblin took the blade to the gut and hit the ground rolling.

“Neeagghh!” The second Goblin took the black blade to the leg and stumbled, screeching in pain as it jostled the sharp weapon lodged in it.

The third Goblin managed to dodge the throw blade, partly because of the distance and partly because Bell’s aim still wasn’t perfect, given he’d only been practicing with his Magic for a few days now.

“Yah!” Bell slashed the last Goblin across the torso with his shortsword, closing the distance with a lunge. His greater reach made it easy to finish the Goblin off before it could get to him.

“Grreee…” The Goblin with the black blade stabbed into its leg had managed to yank the ash-made weapon out and tried to hobble away.

Thunk

A new black blade lodge in the back of its head and it collapsed forward, dead.

“Nice.” Bell smiled at hitting his target, having pulled the new blade from the cloud of ashes that he was maintaining. “I need to keep improving and getting stronger though.” He sheathed his sword and pulled out his knife to start harvesting the Goblins’ Magic Stones.

-Guild Exchange ~ Late Afternoon-

“Your Magic Stones were worth 10,824 Valis, the two Goblin Fangs were worth 1,200 Valis, and the two Kobold Nails were worth 1,800 Valis.” The man behind the glass informed Bell. “Your total exchange for today is 13,824 Valis; have a nice evening.” The woman behind the glass nodded to Bell as she pushed the tray back onto his side.

“Thank you.” Bell smiled and collected his money before putting it into his hip pouch. He headed over to the meeting area to give his report to Anna next.

“You look like you did alright today, Bell.” Anna smiled at her newest Adventurer. He was also one of her better ones, despite being so new. Already he was making around half of what a Party of five Level 1’s would make per day.

“It was a little rough here and there, but I feel like I’m getting a little stronger.” Bell said with a friendly smile. “I might need to but a Mind potion soon. I’m getting better with my Magic, but it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared.”

Anna smiled at Bell, happy that he paid attention to the lessons that she taught him. “That would be wise, Bell. Magic is a great tool in an Adventurer’s arsenal, but it comes with a major drawback if you overuse it.” She placed a blank paper on the table and readied her quill to write up Bell’s report for the day.

-Jagamarukun Stand ~ Hestia’s Workplace-

Hestia was glad that her shift was over. She just needed to take off her apron and she’d be free to head home now that the stall owner was here to handle the closing.

“Two Jagamarukun, please.” A man asked while Hestia’s back was turned. This would normally have mildly annoyed Hestia, given that she was about to leave, but the voice was from the one she loved. “Bell!” Hestia spun around with a beautiful smile on her face.

“I came to walk you home, Hestia.” Bell smiled at her with a little chuckle at his joke.

Hestia quickly took off her apron and hung it up on the peg meant to hold it. She was around the stall and had her arms wrapped around Bell’s left arm in only a couple of seconds. “Let’s go!”

Both of them were smiling as they walked home together as the sun began to set.

-Abandoned Church-

“You’re making so much money, Bell.” Hestia giggled as she looked at the money that Bell had brought home today. “A bit more and we’ll be able to start planning for some renovations.” She thought about what they should fix up first in the old church.

Bell pulled his black shirt over his head, revealing his body to Hestia’s eyes, which the Goddess took a moment to admire once again. “I’m glad, Hestia. You deserve a nice home to live in and all the books you want too.” He gave her a smile that always made Hestia smile in return.

“You’re going to spoil me, Bell.” Hestia’s beautiful laugh filled the room.

“I intend to.” Bell agreed, gently taking her into his arms and holding her close.

Hestia eagerly leaned into Bell, tilting her head up to capture his lips in a kiss. The two briefly lost track of time as they deepened their kisses. “Haaah~” Hestia moaned breathily as she pulled back from another kiss. “I need to get dinner started.”

“I’ll help…” Bell said and kissed her again, which Hestia instantly surrendered to. “Let’s keep going.” He offered as their foreheads gently rested against each other’s.

“Mmm.” Hestia kissed Bell again, this time lifting her right leg and resting it on Bell’s hip.

Bell, getting the idea, let his hands trail down Hestia’s back until he got to her bottom. He gently ran his hands over the generous cheeks, lightly squeezing and groping them, before taking hold of Hestia’s ass and lifting her up.

“Mhmm~” Hestia grinned at Bell, now that they were at eye-level with each other. She wrapped both of her legs around Bell’s hips and pressed her body flush against his. Their lips met again and Hestia moaned into the kiss as Bell’s hands continued to play with her butt, even lifting up the back of her mini-dress to play with her panty-clad bottom. “Naughty boy~” She giggled before letting out a little gasp as Bell squeezed her ass again.

Dinner was over an hour late that night as the two further explored ‘making out’ together.

As they were getting ready for Bed, Hestia had Bell lay down so that she could Update his Status.

“Working as hard as ever, Bell.” Hestia said as she watched his Excelia. Bell pushed himself every day to get stronger and be better as an Adventurer. She knew that Bell had many reasons for doing so, of course. His dream to be a Hero, his desire for family, for her, for their Familia…all of these goals and desires fueled Bell to strive and improve, day after day. “You’re certainly improving.” Hestia moved the Excelia over and watched as Bell’s stats increased. Once the growth stopped, Hestia placed a blank paper on Bell’s back and copied the numbers over with a twirl of her fingertip. Taking the paper in hand, Hestia lifted herself off of Bell’s lower back, only for Bell to flip over onto his back and take hold of her hips. “Bell?!” Hestia blushed and let out a little giggle when she saw Bell looking up at her with a smile. “What am I going to do with you?” She teased and handed him his Status Update as she straddled him.

“I’m sure you’ll think of something, Goddess.” Bell replied with a chuckle before looking at the paper.

“Strength and Dexterity are both ‘H’ Rank now!” Bell was happy to see that he’d managed to get two of his Basic Abilities up a rank for the first time.

Hestia smiled down at Bell from where she was straddling him. “You’re doing amazingly, Bell. I think you have a real talent for this.”

“Thank you, Hestia.” Bell put his Status Update to the side with a smile. His rubellite eyes meeting her beautiful blue.

“You want to celebrate?” Hestia giggled, seeing the love and desire in Bell’s eyes.

Bell’s response was to gently push up Hestia’s nightgown and run his hands over her thighs, gently squeezing and massaging them, enjoying the soft skin and how his fingers sank into them a bit.

“Bell~” Hestia cooed at the soft and tender touches. She gently took off her hair ties, handing them to Bell to put on the nightstand. With her long, silky, raven locks free, Hestia ran her fingers through her hair, intentionally thrusting her chest out for Bell’s eyes. Seeing that she had his attention, Hestia took hold of the hem of her nightgown and lifted it upwards. Her white panties were revealed to Bell, then her trim tummy, then her large breasts which bounced from the movement, and finally she pulled the nightgown off entirely, tossing it aside with a giggle.

“Gorgeous.” Bell said as his eyes roamed over Hestia body, taking in her Divine Beauty. His hands moved up from her thighs and softly took hold of her hips.

Hestia leaned forward a bit, running her hands over Bell’s bare chest, enjoying the feel of his toned body. “You’re getting so strong, Bell…”

Bell sighed at the softness of Hestia’s hands on his chest. He used his hold on her hips to gently move her forward and then back causing friction between them, only separated by his boxers and Hestia’s panties. Hestia gasped and bit her lip as she rolled her hips to feel that spark of friction again. Bell rumbled in his chest from the pleasure before trailing his hand up Hestia’s sides, leaving warmth in their path before he took hold of Hestia’s large tits.

“Bell~” Hestia moaned out as Bell began to play with her girls, teasing her hard nipples and gently massaging her tits. She rolled her hips again enjoying the double stimulation.

Bell continued to please Hestia, even lifting his hips to match the rolling of her hips, making the Goddess moan and mewl from the pleasure. “Love you, Hestia.”

“Mmm…ah… L-Love you…ooh…too, Bell!” Hestia moaned as her breathing became heavy. She couldn’t get enough of this pleasure, being with Bell like this was a wholly new experience and Hestia didn’t want it to end, even as she felt her core tighten as she approached her peak.

“Goddess…” Bell nearly growled as the heat and friction between them pushed him closer to the edge. Hestia’s wetness had seeped through her panties by this point, soaking the front of his boxers as they moved against each other.

Hestia moaned loudly when Bell lightly pinched her nipples and thrust upwards against her at the same time. Her eyes fluttered as she crashed over the edge and climaxed powerfully. “Bell~!” She collapsed onto his chest and felt the tremors of pleasure pass through her sensitive body as Bell wrapped his arms around her. She felt something hot and hard between her thighs, before something viscous and even hotter covered her skin. In her dazed state it took Hestia a moment to realize what had happened. “Hot…” She mewled as she reveled in the feeling of Bell’s seed on her thighs.

“Hestia… That was amazing…” Bell’s breathing was heavy as he held her close. His length had ended up slipping through the front of his boxers as the button holding them closed had come loose from their movements. His release had covered Hestia’s thighs and now he felt Hestia’s soft skin against his half-hard cock.

After a minute or so to recover, both just enjoying their closeness, Hestia giggled and kissed Bell’s chest. She moved her hands down and wiggled her hips for a moment before Bell saw her right leg kick her panties off. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to sleep naked with Hestia, Bell lifted his hips (even with Hestia on top of him) and pulled his boxers off, tossing them off the bed while Hestia pulled the blanket over them with a loving smile.

“Love you so much, Bell.” Hestia kissed his collarbone, his neck, his cheek, and then his lips. They were in a perfect position to go all the way, but Bell wasn’t trying to force it. Hestia adored that sweet and understanding part of Bell as she snuggled with him naked under the blanket.

“Love you too, Hestia.” Bell kissed her lips again as he held her close, the feeling of their naked bodies pressed against each other was incredible. Hestia was so warm and soft, her warmth pressed up against him as her soft curves molded to his harder muscle was a feeling that Bell knew he’d never get tired of.

The two lovers drifted off to sleep with smiles of contentment.

-Next Morning-

Bell woke up first, as he often did, right at five in the morning. He gently ran his fingers up and down Hestia’s back, enjoying her soft skin, as he waited for her to wake up.

“Mnh…” Hestia’s eyes slowly fluttered open several minutes later. She was warm and comfortable, the gentle caress of Bell’s fingers along her back made her smile as she nuzzled into his chest.

“Good morning, Hestia.” Bell moved slightly to be able to kiss the top of her head.

“Good morning, Bell…” Hestia kissed his chest before leaning up to kiss his lips. She giggled as she felt something hard pressing against her. “Someone’s being naughty this morning~”

Bell chuckled as he kissed Hestia again.

Hestia sat up with a smile, letting the blanket fall off of her and reveal her naked body to Bell’s eyes. She had a bit of red on her cheeks, since this was the first time she’d shown Bell her completely naked form, but the loving look he gave her made her smile even more. “Let’s take a shower.”

“Alright.” Bell agreed easily as he sat up. He picked Hestia up and carried her to the bathroom with a smile on his face. “I’ll make sure to clean every part of you, Hestia.”

“Bell!” Hestia laughed melodically as she enjoyed being in Bell’s arms. Leaning up, she whispered into his ear. “I’ll take care of that for you~”

Once they were in the shower, Hestia made good on her words as her soft hand gently took hold of Bell’s cock and began to stroke him.

Bell had a bit of a spring in his step as he left the abandoned church that morning to head for the Dungeon!

Hestia had to do laundry on her day off as their bedding smelled of their activities, and they only had the one set right now.

-Dungeon ~ Fourth Floor-

“Hyah!” Bell cut down a Kobold with his shortsword. Turning, he covered the two Kobolds that were charging at his back in a cloud of burning hot ashes.

“Yipe!”

“Eeeyip!”

The two dog-headed Monsters’ pained cries were heard for only a moment before the burning ash filled their lungs from their wide open jaws. Both fell to the ground with smoke rising from their bodies.

“Grrrr!” Another Kobold tried to claw at Bell, but his shortsword cut off its arm at the forearm. “Yipe!” The Kobold let out a pained bark at the loss of its arm.

“Yah!” Bell felt the burning ash solidify in his left hand and he swung the new construct (a replica of his shortsword) that was glowing with yellow-orange heat. The burning ash blade cleanly decapitated the Kobold, finishing off the last Monster in the small group.

Not seeing any other Monsters, nor hearing the telltale cracking of the Dungeon walls as a new Monster was born, Bell released his Magic.

“I feel really good today!” Bell beamed at his performance, now having taken down a four-on-one fight without getting injured. “I even got to try out that idea that I had.” He watched as the burning construct in his left hand cooled before falling apart into regular ashes. “It was able to finish off a Kobold easily enough. I’ll keep practicing with it and see what else I can do.” He sheathed his sword and pulled out his knife to start harvesting the Magic Stones of the slain Kobolds.

After collecting the last Magic Stone, Bell continued on his path through the Dungeon, still in a noticeably good mood.

-Guild Exchange-

Bell smiled as he emptied out his hip pouch and his backpack of all the Magic Stones that he’d gotten today. The six Drop Items were placed on top of the second pile, being that the first had filled the tray to the brim.

“Not often you see a solo newbie bring in this much.” The man behind the glass mentioned as he set about weighing the pile of Magic Stones. Bell waited patiently as the man worked, watching him examine the six Drop Items next before making a mark in the ledger on the desk. “Alright, your Magic Stones were worth 14,072 Valis, the three Goblin Fangs were worth 1,800 Valis, and the three Kobold Nails were worth 2,700 Valis.” The man behind the glass informed Bell. “Your total exchange for today is 18,572 Valis; have a nice night.” The Guild employee nodded to Bell as he pushed the tray back onto Bell’s side.

“Thank you.” Bell smiled and collected his money before putting it into his hip pouch. “Just need to give Anna my report for the day and then home to Hestia.” He smiled as he thought about his Goddess.

“Hmm, that was…Mr. Cranel.” The man behind the glass made sure he had the right Adventurer as he looked over the young man’s history of exchanges with the Guild. “About a thirty percent increase in Magic Stones from his last exchange. I wonder what got his performance to increase like that today?” He put it out of his mind as a Party of adventurers approached his window.

-Abandoned Church-

Bell was relaxing on the bed as Hestia updated his Status. He’d done really well today, so he hoped that would translate over to his growth.

Hestia watched Bell’s Excelia, seeing his hard work and progress with his Magic from his time in the Dungeon. “You were really going at it today, Bell.” She smiled as she started moving the Excelia over so that Bell’s Falna would grow stronger. ‘Did ‘taking care’ of Bell this morning help his performance?’ Hestia wondered as her cheeks went slightly pink. She’d heard some (rather crass) rumors about such things, but had never really put any faith in them. Most wouldn’t, given who Hestia’s was related to and their known ‘passions’. She briefly rolled her eyes just thinking about it. “Alright, you’re all done, Bell.” She copied the new numbers onto a blank paper and then looked it over as she slid off of Bell’s back.

“All of my stats are ‘H’ Rank now!” Bell cheered a bit, a bright smile on his face.

Hestia smiled, loving to see Bell so happy and excited. “You’re working really hard Bell, and you’re learning quickly as you go deeper into the Dungeon. It’s only natural that you’d grow quickly while you’re still this new to Adventuring.”

“I’ll keep getting better too, Hestia.” Bell promised her as he took her hands in his. “For you, for our Familia, for my dreams! I won’t stop, no matter how long the road is to get there!”

“Bell.” Hestia leaned forward meeting Bell’s lips as he moved forward too. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Hestia.” Bell pulled her into his arms and the two just enjoyed the warmth and closeness.

Hestia felt a giggle form and could barely suppress it which got Bell’s attention.

“Goddess?” Bell looked at her with a grin. “What’s so funny?”

“N-Nothing…” Hestia shook her head as she got her giggles under control. “I just realized we celebrated your stats getting to ‘H’ last night, but now ALL of your stats are at ‘H’ rank.”

Bell perked up and his grin widened a little. “Does that mean we should ‘celebrate’ again tonight?” He gently squeezed her in his embrace.

“Naughty.” Hestia giggled and snuggled into him even more.

“You can’t blame me.” Bell kissed the top of Hestia’s head.

The two just snuggled for a little while before making dinner together. Bell could handle simple things, but he let Hestia do all of the actual cooking. Everything always tasted spectacular when Hestia cooked. Naturally, Hestia accepted Bell’s praise with bubbly laughter as warmth and love filled their little basement home again.

-A Week Later ~ Dungeon ~ Fifth Floor-

“Where did this thing come from?!” Bell ran and ducked around a corner.

“MOOOAAARRRGGGHH!!!” A Minotaur’s fist smashed through the rock. The rampaging bull-headed Monster came around the corner with powerful stomps, its cloven hooves cracking the stone floor beneath it.

Minotaurs were classed as Level 2 Monsters by the Guild, and they should’ve only been on the Middle Levels starting around the Fifteenth Floor. It was no surprise that Bell was beyond confused at the appearance of one on the Fifth Floor. But at the moment he was only able to try and get away.

“I only just got my stats to ‘G’ rank so that Miss Anna would clear me for this Floor!” Bell ran as fast as he could. His reaching ‘G’ in two weeks had astounded Anna, and Bell felt just a little bit of pride in his growth. But faced with the rampaging Minotaur chasing him, that bit of pride vanished.

“MOOAARRGGHH!!!” The Minotaur continued to chase after Bell, slamming through stone corners with its powerful frame. It swung at Bell every time it got close to catching up with the young man. Several of the swings were close enough that Bell felt the wind off the blows.

This is not what I expected on my first day on the Fifth Floor!’ Bell yelled within his mind, opting to save his breath for more running. He took a left turn and heard the Minotaur smash through the corner a second later. Bell had to take a right next, since it was the only option available to him, but what he had to skid to a stop a moment later. “A dead end?!”

“MOOOAAARRRGGGHHH!!!” The Minotaur stomped into the rectangular cavern that Bell found himself in, huffing and growling after having chased Bell through the Fifth Floor.

“Remnants of the Sacred Flame, alight on the wind and scatter!” Bell cast his spell and black ashes poured from his left hand, arm, and even his back. He couldn’t ration his Mind for this fight if he wanted to live! ‘This thing won’t give me any time to use my Mind potion… I’ve got to fight smart and make my escape. Once I’m clear, then I’ll take the potion and run as fast as I can!’ Plan made, Bell drew his shortsword and let a thick cloud of ash start filling part of the rectangular cavern.

The Minotaur lunged forward, and Bell barely leapt to the side.

BAM

The wall nearly shattered under the Minotaur’s strength. Spiderweb cracks spread out from the point of impact and Bell knew that he’d have died instantly if he’d been hit. “MOOAARRGGHH!!!” The Minotaur bellowed at missing its target.

Bell focused and the ash cloud coming from his body rapidly heated up, quickly becoming a glowing yellow-orange amid the black ashes. He waved his arm and a barrage of burning pellets peppered the Minotaur.

“MOOOAAARRRGGGHHH!!!” The Minotaur swung its arms through the air, scattering ash dust around as it charged through the pellets. The strong fur and hide of the Minotaur naturally protected them from hot and cold, so Magics of both the Fire and Ice elements did less damage overall.

Bell wasn’t standing still though, no, the new Adventurer was constantly keeping on the move, his ash cloud obscuring him from the direct view of the Minotaur, even if he couldn’t get past it to the exit just yet. He stuck his hand into the black cloud and focused on what he wanted, the cloud compressed slightly and Bell quickly flung a trio of black blades at the Minotaur.

“MOOAARRGGHH!!!” The Minotaur roared as the blades bounced off the its hide, not harming the Monster in the slightest.

But Bell didn’t need them too.

With a thought the three falling blades exploded back into clouds of thick, black ash. The sudden smokescreen blinded the Minotaur and Bell moved closer to the exit as he prepared his next attack.

He wasn’t expecting the Minotaur to come charging straight at him from within the cloud. Only the connection he had to his spell gave him enough warning to let him throw himself to the right.

BOOM

With a sound like an explosion, the Minotaur’s horns and head nearly made the stone wall shatter as the Level 2 Monster crashed into it.

“Yah!” Bell called forth a massive cloud of burning yellow-orange ash to engulf the Minotaur, not caring about the drop in his Mind reserves. He needed a moment to get back on his feet! As he scrambled to his feet, he heard the thunderous stomps of the Minotaur behind him. Feeling the disturbance in the ash that was around the Minotaur, Bell managed to pivot at the last possible second and bring his shortsword up in a feeble attempt to block.

Ching

The blade snapped as the point of the Minotaur’s left horn hit the metal. Bell kept pivoting, but the horn stabbed into his light armor breastplate and passed through it like a spear through paper. It was only because Bell was turning that he managed to get away with just a laceration along his upper chest from the tip of the Minotaur’s horn. He was still thrown bodily through the air, spinning a full three-hundred-sixty degrees before hitting the stone floor. His breastplate was torn asunder, the metal nearly in two pieces as it clattered to the ground a few meters from Bell’s location.

“Gakh!” Bell hacked out, spit flying from his mouth from even the minor glancing blow. A Minotaur’s power was not to be underestimated, even if they weren’t overly intelligent and telegraphed most of their moves. “Grrnnngghh!” Bell felt the Minotaur approaching through the ash in the air. He formed the cloud of ash around his right hand and compressed it into a greatsword, then he forced it to heat up as much as he possibly could, feeling the sharp drop in his Mind.

“Moooaaahh?” The Minotaur hesitated for a step, seeing the glowing hot weapon in the little human’s hands. The burning ash greatsword certainly hadn’t been there before. The thought (if it could even be considered a thought) passed immediately and the Minotaur lunged forward again. “MOOAARRGGHH!!!”

“I’M NOT DYING TODAY, DAMN IT!!!” Bell roared back at the Minotaur, his mind was filled with thoughts of Hestia, of his dream to be a Hero, his desire to have a family of his own one day! All of Bell’s dreams and desires filled his mind as he brought the burning ash construct down on the Minotaur’s head.

The two clashed for a brief instant. The Minotaur’s charge briefly stalled as its fur and hide were slightly singed by the heat. The ashen greatsword shattered against the powerful Monster’s head…then it burst apart into a massive cloud of fine particulates that sent Bell rocketing backwards along with the force from the Minotaur’s charge.

“GUH! Gack! Auuagh!” Bell cried out as he bounced off the stone floor twice.

“MOOOAAUUHHH!!!” The Minotaur shook its head and looked around, trying to spot Bell among the ash and soot in the air. The smoke stung its nostrils, killing its sense of smell. The ash and soot were starting to hamper its breathing as well, making the Minotaur hack and cough as it waved its arms to try and clear the air. That only stirred up more of the ash and soot and the Minotaur closed its eyes as the fine particles stung them.

Bell leaned against the wall of the corridor, managing to keep himself upright by using it as a support. Hearing the Minotaur staggering around within the ash clouds that now filled the rectangular cavern, he poured the last bit of Mind that he could spare into the black clouds.

Ssssss

A hissing sound got the Minotaur’s attention and it turned to face it, only to realize, when it opened its eyes, that the sound was coming from all around it. Small sparks within the cloud of soot and ash ignited and flared up like matches being lit. The chain reaction this caused turned everything in the Minotaur’s sight yellow-orange, and then white.

BOOOOOM

An explosion filled the cavern. The shockwave, along with some burning ash and tons of smoke, rocketed down the corridor. Bell was knocked backwards and hit the ground on his back again, making him choke as the wind was briefly knocked out of him.

My head… Dizzy… Ringing…’ Bell’s thoughts were jumbled, both from the near Mind Down that he was in and the shockwave that he’d just been hit by. The ringing in his ears from the blast certainly didn’t help either. ‘Did I…kill…the Minotaur?’ He managed to string a thought together as the ringing in his ears started to lessen.

Clunk

The sound of something hard hitting the stone floor got Bell’s faltering attention.

Clunk

A second sound followed the first.

“Wha…?” Bell struggled to sit up.

Clunk

The Minotaur slowly walked out of the rectangular cavern. The explosion had done some real damage to the Level 2 Monster. A lot of its fur was burned off. It had noticeable burns on parts of its skin. One of its eyes appeared to be missing. There was even blood dripping from both of its nostrils and both of its ears as well.

Had the Minotaur not been so injured by the blast, it would’ve noticed Bell’s struggling form immediately. As it was, it was deaf, blind on one side from the missing eye, the remaining eye was temporarily blind from the flash of the explosion, and its nostrils were filled with the acrid scent of smoke and its own blood. With all of its senses compromised, the injured Minotaur only knew which way to walk because it hadn’t bumped into a wall yet.

“Sh-shit…” Bell tried to get back on his feet, but had only just managed to sit up. The Mind Down was starting to give him lightheadedness and his vision was getting hazy. He fumbled for his backpack, pulling it off after a second.

Clunk

The Minotaur staggered another step forward.

Bell opened his backpack and took out the Mind Potion, just happy that it had survived him being thrown around by the Minotaur. He pulled the cork off with unsteady fingers, almost spilling some of the citrus-colored liquid, before he brought it to his lips and drank it down.

Clunk

The Minotaur was getting closer. A couple more steps and it would find him just by stepping on him!

As the Mind potion did its work, Bell’s head began to clear up. His vision returned and the lethargy he was feeling started to disappear. Now able to properly think without his head in a fog, spots of pain quickly made themselves known to Bell from various parts of his body.

“Nnngh!” Bell stifled a cry, worried it would attract the Minotaur’s attention. He quickly searched for his Low Potions but with dawning panic realized that only one had survived his fight with the Minotaur. The rest of the vials were shattered glass in the bottom of the backpack, their contents absorbed by the fabric inside. “Shit…” Bell quickly downed the last Low Potion, feeling the pain and injuries lessen, even if not all of them were fully healed.

Clunk

The Minotaur was practically right on top of him now.

Bell saw a blur and it took his brain a second to process what he saw.

A humanoid figure flying in and a kick slamming into the side of the injured Minotaur’s head, turning it around one-hundred-eighty degrees from the sheer force. A second blur with twin streaks of silver light followed in less than the time it took to blink. The silver streaks passed through the Minotaur without slowing down.

Then time seemed to flow normally again.

The Minotaur’s backwards head and the top of its body fell backwards, landing on the ground with a thump. The legs fell to the side from the sudden loss of weight. Blood pooled under the bisected Minotaur, quickly forming a large puddle.

“Are you okay?” A woman’s voice asked, and it took Bell a second to realize he was being spoken to.

“Huh?” Bell blinked and looked up. He saw an Amazon, with somewhat short black hair and dark green eyes. “Beautiful…” He spoke without thinking.

The Amazon blinked at him before a bright smile formed on her face. “Thanks!”

“Is he okay?” A second Amazon came into view and Bell noticed the two had a good number of similarities…they were probably sisters.

“Well, he called me beautiful when I asked, so he’s probably fine.” The first Amazon laughed brightly.

The second Amazon raised and eye brow and looked down at Bell. “Maybe you hit your head?”

“Hey!” The first Amazon glared at the second. The second only grinned at the first teasingly.

Bell now had his sense back enough to take in the two Amazons.

The first Amazon with the short, black hair had two long bangs framing her face. Each of the longer bangs was held together with a simple bronze hair ornament near the end. Around her neck were golden-colored neckbands, the largest of which sported three blue gems. Her chest was covered by a white breast wrap that left just enough to the imagination. She wasn't very busty, but it certainly didn’t detract from her beauty in the slightest. Her smooth and toned stomach was left fully on display, like many Amazons chose to do. She wore a golden armband on each forearm and had golden anklets similar to her neckbands adorning her ankles. The pareo around her waist was a dark yellow color with a green band around the hem, worn long with the ends falling around the woman’s ankles. The garment partially covered her legs and the brown loincloth that hung down to her shins. A thick, brown and white belt with a golden buckle featuring a stylized sun sat around her hips, over the tied-off pareo.

This was Tiona Hyrute, ‘The Slasher’ of Loki Familia, a very well-known Level 5 Adventurer, though she was missing her signature weapon, Urga.

The second Amazon had long, black hair going down to just past her butt. Two long, braided bangs framed her face and were held together with silver-colored hair ornaments near the ends. Her ears were pierced, each one sporting a round, blue gem. Silver-colored neckbands adorned her neck and a deep-red bikini top covered her very large breasts. The garment was wrapped around her back, and was tied off behind her neck. A circular, silver moon ornament kept the top pulled tight to prevent any slipping. Like many Amazons, she left her toned and smooth stomach fully displayed. She also had a folded pareo tied around her waist, a dark yellow color with a green band around the hem matching the first Amazon’s. Red leggings attached to a garter belt around her waist drew the eye of many a man. She also had silver-colored armbands and anklets to finish off her look.

This was Tione Hyrute, ‘Jörmungandr’ of the Loki Familia, another very well-known Level 5 Adventurer. In her hands were her signature Kukri knives, and Bell realized that they were the twin silver streaks that he’d seen bisecting the Minotaur.

“Y-You’re the Hy-Hyrute Sisters…” Bell managed to get out after a brief bout of being a bit starstruck.

“That’s us.” Tione confirmed with a grin. “Thanks for stalling this thing until we caught up. It would’ve been bad if it had found any Level 1’s while it was fleeing.”

“Yeah, we followed the sound of the explosion to find you.” Tiona gave Bell a smile. “I’ve been called reckless before, but I’ve never set off an explosion right in front of my own face!” She laughed brightly, revealing her warm, sunshine-like, personality.

“I was out of options…” Bell admitted as he slowly got back to his feet. The dull pain was still there in certain places, but he could walk at least.

Tione looked over the dead Minotaur, noticing the burns and the missing eye. “It looks like your last resort did some serious damage to this thing. Not bad for a new Level 2. Especially since you fought it solo.” She gave him some praise for fighting the Minotaur to this point on his own.

Tiona placed her hand on his shoulder with a bright grin. “She’s right! You just need to practice and get your stats up some more, and then these big cows will be no big deal for you! You’ll be the one hunting them!”

Throwing everything I had at the Minotaur barely fazed it. Only nearly blowing both of us up managed to hurt it…’ Bell compared his life-and-death struggle against the ease that the Hyrute Sisters had slaughtered the Minotaur with.

Then what the sisters had called him finally registered.

“I’m not Level 2…” Bell shook his head. “Today is my first day on the Fifth Floor. I only just got my stats to ‘G’ Rank.”

“What?” Tiona looked at him with confusion, which made her look adorable in Bell’s eyes.

“You’re joking.” Tione shook her head with a chuckle at the absurdity of the young man’s claim. “Right?”

“No ma’am.” Bell shook his head. “My name is Bell Cranel, Captain of the Hestia Familia. I’ve been in Orario for three weeks and have been an Adventurer for two of them.” He introduced himself to the Hyrute Sisters properly.

Tione and Tiona shared a look with each other. A quick, silent, conversation passed between the sisters. Neither of them had ever heard of Hestia Familia before. And every Familia with a Level 2 Adventurer was at least known in Orario, given that half of all Adventurers never made it past Level 1.

Tiona suddenly moved closer, getting into Bell’s personal space. She was looking into his eyes closely, their noses almost touching.

So close!’ Bell leaned back a bit, but Tiona followed him, her eyes locked on his.

“You’re not lying…are you?” Tiona finally blinked, her voice disbelieving.

“No, I’ve only been in Orario for three weeks and I’ve only been an Adventurer for two weeks.” Bell shook his head once.

Tione was suddenly in his personal space too, just as close as Tiona had been a second ago. “You’re really a Level 1?” The intense green eyes, nearly identical to her sister’s, were practically drilling into Bell’s rubellite gaze.

“Yes, ma’am.” Bell answered promptly. There was no reason to lie to the two that had probably just saved him from being stomped to death by the injured Minotaur.

“How did you injure the Minotaur this badly then?” Tiona pointed at the dead Monster. “We heard the explosion, but a Level 1’s Magic shouldn’t be strong enough to kill a Minotaur.”

“I set off a dust explosion with my Magic…so it wasn’t really my power alone that hurt it.” Bell explained how the Minotaur had been injured. “I just took advantage of the cavern’s closed space and the properties of my Magic to set off a stronger blast than anything that I could produce.”

“You said your stats are at ‘G’, right?” Tione questioned Bell curiously.

Bell nodded to Tione in confirmation. Technically he shouldn’t be revealing anything of his Status to them, since they were from a different Familia, but he was just thankful for their help when he’d been on his last legs.

“But you’ve only been an Adventurer for two weeks?” Tione wanted to confirm. “You didn’t have a Familia outside of Orario and convert to your current Familia?”

“No. Goddess Hestia is the only Deity that I’ve ever received a Blessing from.” Bell answered truthfully.

“It isn’t unheard of for a talented person, or a person that works incredibly hard, to get their stats to ‘H’ in about two weeks.” Tione mentioned while eyeing Bell up and down. “But you’ve managed to get your stats up to ‘G’ in the same amount of time?”

Bell rubbed the back of his head with a small smile. “I work as hard as I can every day. But my Goddess says I have some talent for Adventuring.” He’d always thought Hestia was just being nice to him like she always was.

“Double the growth rate of even a talented new Adventurer, and he was able to fight a Minotaur at Level 1 with only ‘G’ rank stats?” Tiona was looking Bell over just like Tione was.

The twins locked eyes and a single thought was shared between them.

His potential is incredible!

“My name’s Tione Hyrute, nice to meet you, Bell.” Tione’s smile was lovely, but Bell saw something new in her eyes that he couldn’t identify, he felt his heart beat strongly in response to it though.

“I’m Tiona Hyrute, Bell, you can call me Tiona!” Tiona smiled at Bell while moving into his right side and wrapped her arms around his right arm.

“We should escort you back to the surface.” Tione offered, a smile on her lips as she wrapped her arm around Bell’s left arm, her large tits pressing against him.

Tiona mimicked her sister and pressed herself against Bell too. “Yep! Just to be sure you’re alright! You lost your weapon and your armor fighting that cow, so it’s the least we can do.”

“Th-Thank you very much, Miss Tiona, Miss Tione.” Bell agreed to let them escort him, given he was without armor, his shortsword was broken, and he still wasn’t one-hundred percent, even after the Mind Potion and Low Potion.

Tione looked over at the Minotaur’s corpse and seemed to realize that they hadn’t gotten the Magic Stone from the Monster yet. “One second.” She walked over to the slain Minotaur and pulled out one of her Kukri knives. With a blur that Bell barely saw, the Minotaur’s chest was split open, revealing a Magic Stone slightly bigger than Bell’s fist. Tione snatched it right out of the Monster’s chest and walked back over to Bell as the body crumbled away to white ash. “Here you go, Bell.” She placed the Magic Stone into his backpack with a smile while sheathing her Kukri knife.

“B-But you two killed it.” Bell said as Tione retook his arm and the trio started walking down the corridor together.

Tiona laughed and waved it off. “You did most of the damage, Bell. We just finished it off. You earned the Magic Stone.” It would practically be kill-stealing if they kept the Magic Stone after Bell almost died bringing the Minotaur to the brink of death.

“She’s right, Bell.” Tione smiled at him as they turned down the next corridor, both sisters seeming familiar enough with the Fifth Floor to get them back to the main route.

“Thank you both.” Bell decided to just accept it. He was trying to take his mind off of how nice it felt to have Tiona and Tione pressed up against him like this. He had Hestia! Sure, his grandpa had often talked of harems and such relationships…and Bell had definitely entertained the idea on more than one occasion…but that wouldn’t really work out, would it? Instead, thinking of Hestia reminded him once more of his desires, his dreams, his goals; all while he thought of his fight against the Minotaur. ‘I want the kind of strength that Tione and Tiona have. I want to stand where they’re standing…and then I want to go even further! I want to get stronger… Stronger than I am now! Stronger than the two that saved me! I want to be a Hero that can save others when they need me!’ A star of desire and determination exploded into life within Bell’s chest right then and there. His already powerful desire to reach his dreams and his goals, became an all-encompassing drive that wouldn’t be held back by anything!

His Falna reacted to such a powerful abnormality, a desire so strong that it could affect the Divinity that resided within the Blessing upon his back.

A new possibility was born from Bell Cranel’s sheer determination and desire.

-Surface-

On the walk back to the surface, conversation had flowed freely between Bell and the Hyrute Sisters. Tiona and Tione learned more about Bell. He told them of how the Hestia Familia was newly formed. How he was currently the only member as they worked hard to establish themselves within the city. Eventually the topic shifted to the sisters, and Bell showed such genuine interest in getting to know about them that Tione and Tiona found themselves smiling without realizing it.

Bell got to learn about each of the sisters, learning their likes and dislikes, such as how Tione liked to try new things that caught her attention such as cooking or music, or that Tiona was a fan of Heroic Tales, like he was. The conversation only came to a halt when the rest of Loki Familia came out of Babel Tower and the Hyrute Sisters had to go meet with their Familia.

Bell almost felt sad to part with Tiona and Tione, but he knew that he had to. “Thank you very much, Miss Tione, Miss Tiona.” Bell smiled as he thanked the Amazons for their help one more time.

“Just Tione, Bell.” Tione grinned at him as the three were about to split up.

“Yeah, just Tiona, Bell.” Tiona agreed with her sister, a bright smile on her face.

Bell chuckled and agreed. “Right, I’ll remember.”

“We’ll see you again soon, Bell.” Tiona giggled, hugging his left arm and pressing it against her chest.

Tione pressed her large tits against his right arm with a grin on her lips. “Try not to get into anymore situations like that one, alright, Bell? We definitely want to see you again.” The slight change in her tone near the end made that same feeling, like a thrumming in his heart, pass through his body again. Bell wondered if it wasn’t some instinctual thing.

With a wave, Tiona and Tione headed off to meet up with their Familia. Bell headed towards the Guild to give his report and cash in the Minotaur’s Magic Stone.

-Abandoned Church-

“Are you hurt? Tired? Do you need a potion?” Hestia was nearly panicking after Bell told her why he was home so early. She was checking him all over for anything that could possibly be wrong with him.

“I’m fine, Hestia.” Bell reassured her with a smile, only to grimace slightly as a twinge of pain flared up. “I’m a little sore still, but other than that, I’m fine.”

“Let me update your Status, Bell.” Hestia was already guiding him towards their bed. “That way I can see everything myself.”

“Yes, Goddess.” Bell went with it, knowing that Hestia would only feel better once she’d seen the incident through his eyes via the Excelia he’d gathered. He pulled off his torn black shirt and lay face down on the bed.

Hestia gently straddled his lower back and let a drop of her blood fall on the hieroglyphs covering his skin. The marks glowed and Hestia began to watch Bell’s encounter with the Minotaur. She had to stop herself from pulling Bell into a tight hug when she saw him fighting for his life against the Minotaur. Any wrong move and Bell would’ve died. But her first Familia member, her Captain, her Bell…he’d fought. Against a Monster he stood no chance against, he stood up and fought anyway. Maybe he didn’t slay the Minotaur himself, but his actions would certainly be considered brave and even impressive.

“Hm?” Hestia made a small noise as she saw something manifest within Bell’s Falna. ‘A Skill?’ She parsed through it, uncovering its meaning and its name as it translated into hieroglyphs. ‘My Bell… My brave, heroic, determined Bell… You were thinking of me, of your goals and your dreams… You never once doubted your goal, did you?’ Hestia smiled warmly at Bell as she understood where this Skill had come from and how the two Amazons fit into it.

“Hestia?” Bell looked over his shoulder at his Goddess, curious about how long the Status Update was taking compared to all of the previous ones.

Hestia wrote the Skill into Bell’s Falna and then moved his Excelia over into his Basic Abilities. She nearly gaped in surprise at how much the numbers increased, even with the new Skill, it was a huge leap! “One more second, Bell.” Hestia placed a blank paper on his back and copied the update over. Without a word she handed Bell the paper and then laid on his back, doing her best to hold him and give him comfort.

-Status-

Bell Cranel

Level 1

Strength – G 203 > F 309

Endurance – G 201 > F 307

Dexterity – G 206 > F 312

Agility – G 200 > F 306

Magic – G 204 > F 311

-Magic-

Sacred Ash – Incantation: “Remnants of the Sacred Flame, alight on the wind and scatter.” This Magic allows the user to conjure and manipulate ashes, ember, and smoke. They can control the temperature and form constructs with it. The user can change the effect of the spell to provide mild healing and remove Charms, Curses, and Anti-Status conditions by chanting Chari.

-Skills-

Liaris Freese – Fast growth as long as feelings last. The strength of the effects corresponds with the level of the user’s feelings. As a side effect it makes the user immune to Charms and Magics that alter the mind.

-Status-

“I have a Skill?!” Bell would’ve jumped up in shock, but Hestia was currently laying on him, so he couldn’t.

“Mhmm…” Hestia kissed his bare shoulder softly. “Your overwhelming desire to reach your goals and dreams manifested as that Skill.”

“Fast growth…feelings…” Bell read over his new Skill a second time. “Immune to Charms and mind-altering Magics…”

Hestia nodded as she moved off of Bell’s back. “All of your goals, and your desire to accomplish them, came together and made something that would help you achieve them.”

“This is why I jumped so much…” Bell looked at the massive leap in his stats again. It was far greater than it had ever been before, and if not for his new Skill taking up most of his attention, he probably would’ve been more surprised by it. “I’m going to do it, Hestia.” Bell sat up next to Hestia, looking into her beautiful blue eyes. “I’m going to make our Familia the best! I’m going to become a Hero!”

“I know you will, Bell.” Hestia smiled at him with love and affection. “But for now, just relax.” She gently guided him to lay his head on her lap and started to run her fingers through his white hair while gently humming to him.

So comforting…’ Bell smiled and closed his eyes, relaxing and letting Hestia soothe him. Without realizing it, Bell was letting tension and stress release from his body after his near-death experience. Instead of trying to distract himself or bottle up his emotions about the incident, he released them and processed what had happened. All the while, Hestia comforted him with her soft thighs, her gentle caress, and the soft humming that slowly lulled Bell to sleep for a well-deserved nap.

Hestia made a mental note to talk to Hephaestus as soon as possible. Bell’s new Skill could never be publicly known! The other Gods and Goddess would treat Bell like a toy for his unheard of Skill! She wouldn’t allow them to treat her Bell like that!

You can always rely on me, Bell. I’m your Goddess and I love you.’ Hestia continued to run her fingers gently through Bell’s hair as he slept, contentment practically pouring from her as her Divine Aura made the abandoned church feel like Home.

More Fluff! Always the fluffy for Hestia!

Bell has grown much quicker than in Canon from acquiring his Magic earlier, along with his own hard work, and perhaps a bit of talent.

The Minotaur is still far too much of a gap to bridge with his current strength, but a bit of smart thinking most certainly helps!

Big Boom!

Bell meets Tiona and Tione as they finish off the injured Minotaur to save him!

Both sisters are stunned to learn that Bell fought a Minotaur with such low stats at Level 1! But that speaks of a nearly unfathomable potential that sparks their interest! Amazons have been bred to seek out the best men possible (within their own individual tastes, of course) and Tione and Tiona are no exception!

Hestia DOESN’T hide Liaris Freese from Bell! But she WILL hide it from the rest of the world forever! No other Deity will treat her Bell like a toy!

Don’t make her get her Chancla! Kek!

Now that Liaris Freese has manifested, just how far will Bell’s continued hard work and determination take him?

Keep reading to find out!

Let me know what you thought!

Until next time, later!

Thanks for another great chapter.

Christian Jeffress

Thank you very much for another really awesome and entertaining chapter, and very much enjoying their growing relationship. Hestia is bestia lol. I wonder that when he gets a larger reserve of power to pull from, if he could do something like, create highly condensed burning, ash armor, or a set of ash wings to fly. Maybe when he starts to perfect, his fine control, he could create incredibly hot burning ash wires for traps as well as an AOE like attack to mow through lots of weaker enemies? Undoubtedly excited for the future possibilities and to see how the story will evolve. Thanks for another great chapter once again, and hope you have a great day.

Kairomaru

Glad that you enjoyed it! Hestia is Bestia! Bell's Ash Magic will definitely grow over time! Different ideas and things will be tried out and the ones that work will become part of his arsenal! Run, Dungeon Monsters, run! Kek!

Nick K

I'm glad the sisters showed up without Ais this time. They always seem to be overshadowed by her. I'd love to have Tiona and Tione in the polycule without Ais for a change.

Dr_SCP1313

I hope we see the healing aspect of Bell’s magic in the next chapter. I’m curious how it’ll appear.

The Foreign Traveler

Go Bell! Damn he had that Minotaur on the ropes! And FINALLY a story where Hestia doesn't hide Liaris Freese from him. Gods damn it! I want more! This story has only two chapters but I'm already enthralled with it! Keep up the good work Kairomaru!

Kairomaru

Yeah, Bell really busted his ass to survive, huh? Hestia doesn't hide it in this version (mostly because I just wanted to separate this further from Journey to Hero) and so, Bell knows about his Growth Hack right away! What he does with that information will be seen later, but you know he's gonna start shooting up the ranks soon enough! lol
