Chapter 14 – Quincy Archer Hates You

Hatred lingers in the soul,
But is fleeting in the end.
We seek to protect ourselves,
From our own fears.

“RAAARRRGGHHH!!!” The baleful howling roar of a Hollow rang out in the late evening. The Hollow was one of the odder ones that Ichigo had encountered. It seemed to freely switch between a bipedal and quadrupedal stance. Its dark green skin was covered in boney plates and its limbs all ended in wickedly sharp claws. The mask was almost demonic in appearance, not looking like any animal or even a human skull, but filled with vicious, sharp fangs. It was also powerful, it’s Reiatsu felt slightly heavy, even to Ichigo.

“Ha!” Rukia blurred into the Hollow’s blind spot. Her Zanpakutō was a flash of silvery light as it passed through the Hollow’s side.

“Raaaarrrhhhh!” The Hollow swiped at Rukia, even as blood sprayed from its injury. The petite Shinigami wasn’t around to take the attack. Her sword cleaved through the Hollow’s shoulder, bone plates and all, in another shower of blood.

“Damn…she’s fast.” Ichigo watched on as Rukia was finally able to do her patrol as she’d been assigned. The Hollow might be stronger than most of the common ones they’d fought, but it wasn’t very smart.

“Raaaagggghhhhh!” The Hollow’s jaws opened wide and a mass of Reiryoku was gathered within. The nearly formless green energy was launched at Rukia.

“Shisho!” Rukia merely held up her left hand and the transparent barrier appeared. The mass of Reiryoku splashed harmlessly against the Bakudō, a displacement of air the only real blast that resulted from the interaction. Rukia vanished from sight again, reappearing behind the Hollow with her Zanpakutō dripping blood.

“RAAARRRGGHHH!!!” The Hollow let out a final howl as its head split horizontally and it began to dissolve into Reishi. At least a dozen small blue souls emerged from the vanishing Hollow. All of them faded away as they were Konsō-ed and sent on to Soul Society.

“Didn’t even take a minute.” Ichigo grinned at his girlfriend as she swiped her sword, removing the blood from the blade, and sheathed it.

“I’ve been doing this for a lot longer than you, Ichigo.” Rukia smiled at him as she walked over.

“Fair enough.” Ichigo admitted with a light chuckle. He pulled Rukia into a hug and she quickly stood on her tip-toes to kiss him. They pulled apart with smiles, only to be interrupted when Rukia’s Soul Pager went off.

“Busy tonight.” Rukia flipped the phone-like device open. “That way!” She pointed to the northeast with her free hand. The two Shinigami vanished in a blur towards the new Hollow.

It only took the couple a minute at most to find the Hollow. It looked like a bizarre cross of a bull and a large cat. The bull-like mask just didn’t match up to the large feline body. Ichigo drew his Zanpakutō and moved in to engage this time. The Hollow spotted him and the fight began.

“Raaaarrrggghhh!” The Hollow showed its lack of intelligence as it charged blindly at Ichigo. The Substitute Shinigami dodged around the long horns trying to impale him with simple Hohō. He raised his blade to attack when his developing spiritual sense picked up on something approaching from behind.

“Huh?” Ichigo spun to face the new Reiryoku and slashed a blue arrow of Reishi out of the air. “The fuck?”

“Ichigo!” Rukia had already moved forward and performed a textbook perfect Suikawari to split the Hollow’s mask in two. She was by his side before the Hollow had started to disintegrate. She did note that only two souls emerged from the slain Hollow before they disappeared.

“Who the hell are you?” Ichigo demanded of the figure standing just outside of the light of a streetlamp. Rukia hadn’t sheathed her Zanpakutō either. This person had just shot at Ichigo, she wouldn’t forgive them. “Why did you shoot at me?”

“Good evening, Kurosaki-san, Kuchiki-san.” The person that stepped into the light was a teen Ichigo’s age. He wore a long-sleeved white jacket that went down to his thighs with blue lining, white pants, and even white shoes. His navy-blue hair was semi-long and straight. His eyes were covered by glasses and Ichigo got a very vague sense of familiarity from the guy. “I wasn’t aiming at you, Kurosaki-san. I was aiming at the Hollow. You just reacted and blocked my shot.”

“Who are you?” Ichigo repeated his question. “Your getup makes you look like you’re playing mad scientist, by the way.”

“Hmm?” The teen tilted his head and looked to the right instead of answering. “There’s a Hollow coming.”

The beeping of Rukia’s Soul Pager alerted the two Shinigami to a new order. “It’s true…a Hollow is about to appear.” She read off the small screen.

“Which way?” Ichigo hadn’t taken his eyes off the other teen.

“That way.” The navy-haired guy turned and pointed. With his back to Ichigo and Rukia, they were able to see an odd five-pointed star in blue on the back of the white jacket. “You can’t even sense it yet? And you call yourself a Shinigami?” A cross-shaped charm clinked on the bespectacled teen’s wrist. Reishi rapidly gathered around the small charm and in only a second a full-on bow and arrow made of light-blue Reishi was drawn back and ready to fire.

“No!” Rukia vanished into her fastest Shunpo. The white-clad teen’s eyes widened as he nearly lost track of the petite Shinigami.

Rukia cleared hundreds of meters in a single step. She didn’t know what the teen was doing, but he clearly intended to kill the Hollow. The lizard-like fallen with large spikes running down its back and tail was completely oblivious to the incoming attack. She couldn’t let anything kill the Hollow but a Shinigami. There was no telling what would happen to the souls within it if it wasn’t properly cleansed! Sode no Shirayuki flashed out and deflected the Reishi arrow.

“Raaaarrrrggh!!!” The lizard Hollow howled as it noticed her.

“Hadō #4: Byakurai!” Rukia gave it no chance to launch an attack. Bright white lightning collected on the tips of her index and middle finger. The beam of electricity blasted a hole cleanly through the Hollow’s head. The body broke down into black Reishi as three small souls emerged from the slain Hollow. They vanished, as always, a second later to the Soul Society.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” Ichigo roared as he held his Zanpakutō at the ready. “Who are you? Answer me!”

“Ishida Uryū,” The teen finally gave his name. “A Quincy.”

“Quincy?” Ichigo cocked an eyebrow at the unfamiliar term. Rukia was also confused as she’d reappeared at Ichigo’s side right as this Ishida Uryū had given his name. “And I hate Shinigami.”

“What’d you say?” Ichigo took a more aggressive stance while Rukia narrowed her eyes at the human.

“In other words, Kurosaki Ichigo,” Uryū looked at Ichigo coldly. “I’m saying that I hate you.” The self-proclaimed Quincy then blurred away in a manner not to dissimilar to Shunpo. Rukia’s violet eyes followed the initial motion easily enough. But as soon as she lost sight of him around the nearby buildings he was gone from her senses.

“What the hell was that?” Ichigo looked like he was debating on chasing after Uryū to get some answers.

“I’m not sure,” Rukia sheathed her Zanpakutō as she tried to recall if she’d ever heard the term Quincy before. “I’ll look into it.” She assured him as Ichigo sheathed his own blade. “But if he hates Shinigami, then we need to tell Tatsuki and Orihime.”

“I get the strangest feeling that I know that guy from somewhere though.” Ichigo glared at where Uryū had been standing.

-The Next Morning-

“Huh? A guy that hates Shinigami?” Tatsuki blinked at the odd news that Rukia and Ichigo had brought with them this morning. “I didn’t know there were other people that could even see Shinigami in Karakura.”

“It is odd,” Rukia agreed with a thoughtful look. “Normally, even spiritually aware humans cannot see Shinigami well. Hollows either, even if they can see and interact with Plus souls.”

“What was his name?” Orihime asked an obvious question. Her brown eyes curious and concerned.

“Ishida Uryū.” Ichigo answered while holding her hand in his. Orihime loved walking to school hand-in-hand.

“Ishida Uryū? From Class 1?” Orihime stalled the group’s walking with her question.

“You know him, Orihime?” Tatsuki questioned her girlfriend.

“Class 1? He goes to our school?” Ichigo nearly gaped. It would explain why he felt he vaguely recognized the guy.

“I don’t really know him.” Orihime shook her head. “We’re just part of the same Crafts Club!” She answered brightly with a cute smile.

“C-Crafts Club…?” Ichigo didn’t know how to react to that. Rukia merely looked curious about this new variable in Karakura.

-Karakura High School-

“See, Ishida Uryū.” Orihime smiled as she pointed to the top spot on the list of the Top 50 scoring students on the Finals. To the surprise of Ichigo, the name was indeed in first place, right next to a score of ‘896’. “He’s in Class 1, since we’re on break, we can go take a look!” Her cheery personality was truly a blessing in this situation.

“He even beat Ryo…” Tatsuki whistled at the placement. The four of them headed down the hall from their classroom and looked in through the open door.

“That’s him.” Rukia confirmed for Tatsuki and Orihime as she saw Uryū sitting at his desk.

“Look, look, Michiru is bringing him her plushie.” Orihime spoke up in a whisper.

Indeed, the slightly shy brunette that was part of Orihime and Tatsuki’s circle of friends was approaching the bespectacled teen. They couldn’t hear what was said, but Uryū sat a small plastic case on his desk. He took the plush toy from Michiru and set it on his desk next.

“Is that a pencil case?” Ichigo tried to see what Uryū was doing.

“Nope, it’s a sewing kit!” Orihime giggled as they watched on.

Uryū opened the lid of the case and sure enough, inside was a small sewing kit. He quickly and easily threaded a needle from the kit and picked up the plush toy. With speed that came from long hours of practice and experience, the navy-haired teen stitched up the torn plushie. It didn’t even take him two minutes to have the toy repaired and back in Michiru’s arms.

“He’s not exactly a nice guy,” Orihime explained as the group of four watched on. Michiru bowed in thanks, but was waved off somewhat coldly. The brunette left the classroom in a hurry afterwards with her repaired plush toy. “His attitude is just too cold.”

“We’ll have to watch out for him.” Tatsuki hummed as she made sure to memorize Uryū’s face.

“I’ll see if Urahara knows anything after school.” Rukia informed her boyfriend and girlfriends. “If I can find out what exactly a Quincy is, then perhaps we can understand what he has against Shinigami.”

The foursome of Shinigami headed back to their classroom. None of them realizing that Uryū had known they were there the whole time.

-Urahara Shoten ~ After School-

“Ready!” Jinta called out loudly. The girl standing across from him in an Urahara Shoten shirt and a pink polka dot dress only nodded. She had her black hair up in twin tails and a long bang of hair that parted near the end hung in front of her face. “Jan! Ken! Poi!” They threw their hands forward in the classic game of rock-paper-scissors. Jinta had thrown rock while Ururu had chosen scissors. “Look…LOOK OVER THERE!!!” Jinta pointed to the left dramatically. Ururu looked straight down instead. “Hmph. You’re more tenacious than I thought!”

“Jan! Ken! Poi!” The two called out and threw their hands forward. Jinta had gone with rock again, but this time Ururu had chosen paper.

“Look up there.” Ururu pointed straight up and Jinta reflexively looked at where she was pointing. “I win,” She giggled cutely. “That means you have to do the cleaning today, Jinta.”

“It’s not over yet!” Jinta denied, his face almost as red as his hair. “Nothing’s over! It’s best of three!”

“You’ve already lost fourteen times…” Ururu reminded him pointedly.

“I said it’s not over!” Jinta started to give Ururu a noogie.

“Ow, that hurts, Jinta!” Ururu cried out as she struggled.

“Everyone knows that it’s the fifteenth time that counts!” Jinta declared, showing his age. “Come on! One more game! What? Are you scared?” He continued to noogie the girl.

“Ow, I don’t want to play anymore!” Ururu turned away and shielded herself from Jinta’s hands.

“Huh?” Jinta felt a large hand grab the scruff of his shirt. In the next instant he was lifted almost three meters into the air. “Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa!!!”

“What are you doing, Jinta?” Tessai questioned the boy sternly.

“N-Nothing, Tessai…s-sir!” Jinta’s legs dangled far off the ground from the sheer height difference between Tessai and himself.

“Move it, fools.” Rukia’s foot lightly kicked Tessai in the butt.

“Oh, what can we do for you, Kuchiki-san?” Tessai turned to face the young woman. “What’s wrong?”

“Like granite…” Rukia held her foot with a grimace. She looked up at the tall, mustached man with a flat stare. “Where’s Urahara?”

The door opening alerted Urahara Kisuke that Rukia was entering his shop. With a salesman’s smile and his folding fan in hand, he welcomed her. “Oh! Hello, Kuchiki-san! What can I do for…” He was cut off as Rukia’s Soul Pager smacked into his face.

“None of your cheap talk,” Rukia wasn’t amused with the shopkeeper. “I’ve called you a dozen times today. You never answered once!”

“Oh…sorry,” Urahara rubbed his face where he’d been hit. “We’ve been rather busy lately. You must have called when we were out of the shop.” Rukia didn’t believe that for a single second.

“Hey lady, where’s that mean-looking dude with the orangutan hair?” Jinta looked around for Ichigo. “Isn’t he your boyfriend?” Rukia merely raised an eyebrow at the boy. No way in hell was she confirming that in Urahara Kisuke’s presence.

“Ichigo and I have run into a bit of trouble, that’s why I’m here.” Rukia spoke up and Urahara perked up slightly. “There’s something I need to ask you.”

“What is it?” Urahara looked out from under the brim of his bucket hat. His tone and demeanor had changed, even his folding fan was set aside.

“What is a Quincy?” Rukia asked simply, her gaze locking with the former Captain’s.

“Quincy?” Urahara exhaled as he rested his chin on his palm. “I haven’t heard that word in a long time.” He motioned for Rukia to take a seat on the tatami across from him.

“So, you do know what it means.” Rukia sat in seiza across from the blonde man.

“Yes…” Tessai was the one that spoke up. The muscular man with dreadlocks ushered Jinta out of the shop and locked the door behind the boy. “It brings back memories.” The tone with which the large man spoke indicated that they weren’t pleasant memories. “Let’s see…it’s been two-hundred years since I heard that word.”

“Two-hundred years?” Rukia looked at the man confused. “Why? What exactly is a Quincy?”

“The Quincies were a clan dedicated to fighting Hollows.” Urahara began, the rim of his hat shadowing his eyes. “They were spread over most of Eurasia at one time. But…they all perished two-hundred years ago.”

“Perished?” Rukia questioned, though she was fairly certain she may not like the answer.

“Yes. People with powers like Ichigo recognized the existence of Hollows.” The shopkeeper began to explain. “They began to develop their spiritual powers, to fight the Hollows, and to vanquish them, much like the Shinigami.” Urahara sighed before continuing. “But the Quincies had very different ideas about how this should be accomplished. Over time, a deep rift developed between them and the Soul Societies. The crux of it was whether Hollows should be purified…or destroyed.”

“Destroyed…” Rukia’s eyes widened and her shock was evident. She suddenly felt a lot better about interfering with Ishida Uryū’s attempt to kill that Hollow last night. That would’ve been three souls lost to the Balance of Souls if she hadn’t blocked the Quincy’s shot.

“The Shinigami use their Zanpakutō to purify the Hollows and send the souls onto Soul Society. But the Quincy believed that the Hollows deserved only destruction.” Urahara took the tea that Tessai had returned with. He sipped from the cup as Rukia gently took the one that Tessai offered her. The large man sat to the side of Urahara and Rukia and lightly sipped from his own cup as well. “Perhaps it’s an understandable sentiment. Hollows devour human souls…they murdered the Quincies’ friends and loved ones…why should they get to enjoy the peace of the Soul Societies? I can’t blame the Quincies entirely.” He lightly sipped his tea again. “So, they insisted on destroying the Hollows to avenge their murdered friends.”

“But their actions eventually led to their downfall.” Tessai sighed heavily. Rukia looked to the large man and then back to Urahara.

“As you know, Kuchiki-san,” Urahara looked at the younger Shinigami. “Souls pass through the Cycle of Reincarnation from one life to the next. This never-ending progression is what we call the Balance of Souls. There must always be a proper number of souls in both the Living World and the Spiritual Worlds for the cycle to continue and balance to be maintained.” Rukia nodded since this was basic education at the Shinigami Academy. “Now imagine if a few souls were lost entirely to that balance. No longer residing in the Living World, no longer in the Soul Society, not even part of a Hollow. A small number won’t have any real effect. But…say the one’s doing the destroying start to multiply. If suddenly a hundred people destroyed a single Hollow each day. Now imagine if that number was a thousand, or ten-thousand, or more.”

“No…” Rukia felt a bead of sweat roll down the side of her face. She tightly gripped her tea cup in both hands.

“I’m afraid so…” Tessai set down his tea cup with a grimace on his face. “The Quincy refused to change their methods. The Balance was starting to tip…none of the Soul Societies could get them to change their ideals.”

“The orders came down from far higher than us.” Urahara looked down into his tea cup. “As the Soul Societies with the most contact with the Quincies, both Seireitei and Elysium were given the order to eliminate them.”

“The Emissary Reapers…” Rukia’s voice came out as a whisper. It was uncommon for talk of the other Soul Societies to be had after all. Their contemporaries from different parts of the world were left to their own duties in their own territories. Only on rare occasions would a member of one Soul Society ever travel to another. There were rumors that Lieutenant Sasakibe of the First Division had done so long ago, but no one had ever confirmed it among the rank-and-file Shinigami.

“Indeed…” Tessai nodded to Rukia. “The Quincy King, Yhwach, met his end at the hands of Captain Commander Yamamoto and the Head of the Emissary Reapers. His soul was condemned to Hell for the crimes he’d committed.”

“Hell…so their King can never return…his soul would just be another blank slate awaiting reincarnation whenever his punishment is complete.” Rukia mentioned as she set her tea cup on the tray between the three of them.

“That’s the story of the Quincies,” Urahara nodded to her. “They were humans wiped out by our hands to preserve the Balance of Souls.”

“What about survivors?” Rukia looked between the two men.

“There were some, very few.” Tessai shook his head. “Neither Soul Society hunted the ones that fled. A small number of them may remain today, but if they do, they’re most likely a few very small families. The last that was ever discussed about them showed that their numbers were declining every generation.”

“No wonder that boy despises Shinigami.” Rukia sighed at what had been necessary two centuries ago.

-Karakura Town ~ Kitakawase Ward-

“Are you three going to follow me all the way home?” Uryū asked after ascending a flight of stairs on his normal route home from school.

“Looks like we’re busted.” Ichigo commented as he, Orihime, and Tatsuki came around the corner at the bottom of the set of stairs. “How long did you know?”

“I’ve noticed you since the four of you peeked into my classroom during break.” Uryū informed the three teens.

“Good job, you’re sharp.” Tatsuki praised sarcastically.

“You’ve managed to rein in your Reiryoku over the last few months, but you’re still the most blatant source in all of Karakura. A spiritually aware monkey would notice you.” Uryū looked at Ichigo flatly. “You can’t even sense the energy of others when they’re right under your nose.” The flat look became one of condescension. “The fact is, you didn’t even notice me until I revealed myself to you.”

“So sorry, I’m still a bit new to all of this, incase you didn’t know.” Ichigo shrugged at Uryū’s accusation.

“Oh, I do know, Kurosaki.” Uryū replied and Ichigo blinked. “I was able to feel your power the moment I arrived at Karakura High School for my first day. I even know when you became a Shinigami this past spring.” His eyes darted to Tatsuki and Orihime. “I also knew when Inoue-san and Arisawa-san became Shinigami not long afterwards.”

“Oh, you should’ve said something then, we didn’t know for a while.” Orihime’s airheaded trait showed itself with a cute head tilt and her index finger on her cheek. Both Tatsuki and Ichigo sighed before smiling at their girlfriend.

“I even know Kuchiki Rukia is the original Shinigami that came to Karakura.” Uryū stated as the air changed around him and white strands appeared. Orihime and Tatsuki blinked at seeing them for the first time.

“That’s…” Ichigo wasn’t given time to finish.

“Reiraku, spirit ribbons, a manifestation of Reiryoku.” Uryū cut him off. “A good Shinigami is capable of seeing them right away. Supposedly a skilled Shinigami can even touch them. If you were any good, you’d have noticed mine.” The bespectacled teen blurred forward, his hand snatching something just in front of Ichigo. “Did you even know that a Shinigami’s Reiraku is a different color? It’s red.” Uryū stated as he held a torn red Reiraku in his hand. “I’m a Quincy.” He tossed the Reiraku aside, letting it disperse into nothing. “I have the power to kill Hollows.”

“You really like to hear yourself talk, don’t you?” Tatsuki glared at Uryū for the insults against Ichigo.

“Would you three like to play a game?” Uryū asked without a hint of warmth in his tone.

“What kind of game?” Orihime questioned with a smile. She really wanted to alleviate the tension between them. She didn’t like the air that had formed during this encounter at all.

“A game to see who is superior…Shinigami or Quincy.” Uryū stated calmly, but with a cold fury in his eyes. “I’ll show you just how worthless you Shinigami are.”

“Hey, you keep glaring at Orihime like that and I’ll knock your teeth in!” Tatsuki threatened as she stepped between Orihime and Uryū.

“Why should we compete with you anyway?” Ichigo glared right back at the Quincy. “Whatever issue you have with Shinigami is between you and a therapist. Don’t drag us into your issues.”

“So, you’re scared?” Uryū’s tone was bored but his comment still came off as mocking. “Even three-on-one you won’t accept my challenge. How pitiful.”

“Yeah, not falling for that.” Ichigo scoffed at the obvious ploy. “Besides, any fight between me and you wouldn’t be fair.” The orange-haired Shinigami briefly released his hold on his Reiryoku. The Reiatsu that crashed down on the area for a few seconds would’ve normally forced Uryū to bend his knees slightly. But he’d taken precautions the instant he felt Ichigo’s Reiryoku exit his body. The Quincy teen flowed his own Reiryoku, boosted by what Reishi he could gather, throughout his body to counter the weight of Ichigo’s Reiatsu.

Unbeknownst to the group of teens, Ichigo’s show of power had caught the attention of a few people across Karakura Town.

“You show that you don’t listen to people’s words, Kurosaki.” Uryū stated after Ichigo suppressed his Reiryoku again. “I never said it would be a fight.” He reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a white disk that looked like a large pill. “We’ll start with this.”

“What’s that?” Orihime blinked in confusion. It looked like a pill you’d get from a doctor, but way bigger.

“Hollow bait.” Uryū answered plainly. “Once it’s scattered, Hollows will begin converging on this town.”

“Are you fucking insane?!” Ichigo roared at him. Tatsuki and Orihime were wide-eyed that such a thing even existed. Why would anyone want to summon large numbers of Hollows?

“Whoever kills the most Hollows in twenty-four hours wins.” Uryū ignored Ichigo’s anger. “Every Hollow a Shinigami kills counts for your side. That should be simple enough for you to understand, right?”

“What’re you thinking? No way!” Tatsuki shouted at the navy-haired teen.

“Everybody in Karakura would be in danger!” Orihime’s eye were pleading for her schoolmate not to do this.

“What kind of psycho are you?!” Ichigo demanded as he took a step forward.

“You’re starting to bore me.” Uryū glared at Ichigo coldly. “There’s no need to worry about innocent bystanders. I’ll kill every Hollow that shows up here!” He declared and crushed the tablet between his fingers just before Ichigo lunged at him.

IMPORTANT AUTHOR’S NOTE!!!

I revealed some things this chapter!

I’ve always had a bit of my own Head Canon and I thought this fic would be a great place to share it!

You don’t suppose that around 6,000 Shinigami cover the entire world, right? With their very heavily Japanese Soul Society and the confirmation from Kubo that other Soul Societies exist, I formed my own ideas.

Even if only 1% of souls stay in the Living World as Plus souls or fall and become Hollows, even using the 2001 World Population of 6,222,626,606; that would equal out to roughly just over 600,000 Plus souls to Konsō and or Hollows to purify. Every single Shinigami (including all of the Captains and Lieutenants, and even the weak Shinigami that aren’t good at combat, like the Fourth Division) would have to Konsō or purify 100 Pluses and/or Hollows per year across the entire planet to even keep up! And that’s only the Human Souls. We’ve seen in the Manga that even animals can become Hollows and there are probably some that are a threat to humans.

So yeah, other Soul Societies exist, but they don’t interact with each other much. They focus on their own duties and maintaining the Balance of Souls. Yhwach and the Quincies had become a threat to the very existence of the Worlds, and so they had two Soul Societies sent to exterminate them.

I chose Elysium for the name simply because it was written as the place that pure souls go to after their lives by Homer and I think Hesiod too.

Since ‘Seireitei’ is Japanese for ‘Court of Pure Souls’ I figured ‘pure souls’ would make a good connection and chose Elysium.

No, there WON’T be a bunch of OCs or anything, this is just to confirm that other Soul Societies exist and that it wasn’t just Seireitei that wiped out a group of people that were supposedly widespread throughout the world in Canon. I reduced the Quincies to Eurasia only to make it a little more consistent for storytelling.

Also, yeah, Yhwach went to Hell. Do not pass ‘Go’, do not collect $200. Serve your punishment and become just another normal soul waiting to be reborn. The Thousand Year Blood War Arc was crap in my opinion if you couldn’t tell.

But don’t worry! I have some new things to keep this story interesting!

As for the chapter, yeah, Uryu did it. He set the Hollow Bait loose. You really want to punch him one good time in the face for this shit, right?

How will Ichigo, Rukia, Tatsuki, and Orihime handle this situation?

Will it be the same as Canon? Better? Worse?

Keep reading to find out!

Until I get your reviews, later!

Calling the TYBW arc bad is such a based take. That arc made me immeasurably mad reading it when it was coming out and I'm so happy to see Ywach won't be making an appearance in this story!

Kairomaru

Happy that you're happy! lol I have other plans for later in this story, so look forward to them!

Sin Hunter

I hated Uryu at this point of the series. Please break his legs!!

Pheonix774

Have to agree with sin hunter on the not liking part. Don't break his legs though. Nice touch with the elysium soul society and I have to agree with the thousand year blood war arc.

Redpyramid

I like the changes no more thousand year blood arc that was poor story telling on the original manga writer no foreshadowing or hints just out of nowhere new enemies felt like a filler plot. Hopefully uryu gets a slice of humble pie or all of it.

Kairomaru

He was definitely never my favorite character. I do have a punishment in mind though.

Kairomaru

No leg breaking, I have a much different punishment in mind. Glad you liked the slight expansion! Yeah, TYBW was just so much: "When? How? Why? Where? WHO?!"

Kairomaru

Uryu will eat the humble pie! He WILL be punished! TYBW is best summed up by asking: "Who? What? When? Where? Why?" and not getting answers to any of it.

Kz3838

Great chapter, I like how you brought in other Soul Society's since it makes more sense for there to be more then one. As for the Thousand Year Blood arc, I did like it initially but the more I thought of it the more questions it brought that had no answers. There are parts that I appreciated but nothing that was solely from that arc. For example Zaraki's Zanpakto, Unohana's backstory, Yamamoto's Bankai, etc. Things that could have been used elsewhere but were put there instead. Regardless, keep up the good work!

Kairomaru

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter! Yeah, we got some nice reveals in TYBW of characters we liked. Too bad that the rest of the Arc made little to no sense. But, like I said, I have some new stuff planned to keep this story interesting!

sebastian contreras acuña

I love it, I always liked the idea of more than one shinigami organization to be able to cover everything properly and the explanation of how they would work together to eliminate a problem like quincy is accepted and appreciated since you didn't just include them for nothing I hope to see how you continue to develop the story and I like that the arc of the war was fixed now

Kairomaru

Thank you! I thought it would be weird to have only a single Soul Society too! Look forward to new things in this story and the future updates that bring them to you!

Mr. Khaos

I forget the name but I think there's a tie in with another story of soul reaper from England that uses Witch, it's on the Bleach wiki I think.

Kairomaru

Burn the Witch was Kubo's next work after Bleach, and he did sort of tie it into the Bleach Universe. But it had nothing to do with Hollows or Death. It was about Magic. It was also an incredibly short Series.
