Chapter 19 – Oshibana Station

“Happy, we’re heading for Oshibana!” Natsu called out as the group of Natsu, Erza, Mira, Cana, Lisanna, Gray, and Lucy headed outside the Guild Hall.

“Aye sir!” Happy exclaimed as he flew outside and began to glow with golden light. The blue cat’s size rapidly increased and in only a moment Happy was standing at nearly ten meters in height. “All aboard!” His much louder voice reverberated through the area as he bent down so that everyone could get on his back.

“We have to be quick, Happy.” Lisanna urged the flying cat.

“Aye!” Happy nodded as his Aera Magic appeared in the form of white wings. With a single flap the group was airborne. A second flap and they were ascending into the sky. Happy’s wings glowed on the third flap and the group was rocketing forward towards Oshibana.

“How fast can we get to Oshibana like this?” Gray questioned as he had never flown on Happy’s back before.

“Happy will get us there faster than any train.” Natsu stated as he looked forward. The harsh winds blasting against him didn’t even make him flinch.

“I still don’t understand it though,” Gray grit his teeth. “I’m sure they said three days before they could unseal Lullaby. Why is the entire Dark Guild making a move already?”

“Could they have unsealed it faster than expected?” Mira questioned curiously. “Magic Seals do tend to degrade over time. It could be that the seal was weaker than they thought.”

“That still doesn’t answer the question of what they’re going to do with it, or why they’ve taken over a train station.” Cana mentioned with a frown.

“We’ll stop whatever they’re plotting and then get our answers, by force if necessary.” Erza had a sharp glare as she clenched her fists.

“I rushed to help without thinking,” Lucy blinked as she realized that she’d instantly joined the group headed off to fight a Dark Guild. “I’ll do what I can.” She decided resolutely.

“You’ll do fine, Lucy.” Lisanna smiled at the blonde. “Everyone here is either A-Class or S-Class in the Guild.”

“Right, nothing to worry about.” Lucy smiled back at the younger Strauss sister.

In less than an hour the group was approaching Oshibana. Happy looked for a clear spot as close to the train station as possible to land. This turned out to be a large square, probably used for temporary markets, about a block away from the station. When the blue, flying cat landed, everyone hopped off and Happy glowed again as he returned to his normal size. The group of seven mages quickly ran towards the station and encountered a barricade of policemen and a few knights.

“We’re from Fairy Tail, responding to a call for Mage Assistance from Captain Bauland.” Mirajane informed the nearest knight.

“Thank the Gods,” The knight exhaled as he motioned for the seven to follow him. They all noticed the man was walking a bit stiffly. He was clearly still injured from whatever had happened when Eisenwald took over the station. “The Captain is this way.” The mages were led over to a café with a large awning hanging over the outside seating area. The shop had been appropriated for use as a temporary command post since it faced the blocked off train station.

“Captain Bauland, the Mages from Fairy Tail have arrived!” The knight they’d been following announced and the group of knights that had been gathered around a table turned to face them.

“Excellent!” Captain Bauland walked over to the group with his arm in a sling. The old knight was roughed up, but wasn’t letting that stop him from fulfilling his duties. “I’ll give you the situation as we know it.”

“Thank you, Captain.” Mira gave a short bow, followed by everyone else, as they moved over to the table to see a blueprint of the train station.

“They’ve congregated here on the platform,” Bauland pointed to the section on the paper. “We know they ran everyone out as well, so they’ve had their members sweep through the entire station at least once. They’ve yet to make any demands, but anytime we try to get close to the station we’re repelled by a massive blast of Wind Magic. We can’t even get inside to check the condition of the knights that were already beaten.”

“It doesn’t make much sense,” Erza blinked as she listened and looked over the blueprints. “Why take over a train station, make no demands, and then just sit here? What could possibly be their goal?”

“With the trains locked down they can’t even leave as a large group, what’s their escape plan?” Cana murmured as she thought over the situation. Even if the Eisenwald members managed to commandeer a train, the stations on either side of Oshibana had already been locked down. They’d only run into more knights, and probably Rune Knights at that, by the time they got to either station.

“This whole thing doesn’t smell right.” Natsu had a glint in his eyes that Lucy had never seen before. The warm amber that she was used to was steely right now.

“Regardless, we need to stop them before they do whatever it is they have planned.” Mira looked her fellow guild mates in the eye. “We’ll make our way towards the station. If the Wind Magic comes, then Erza and Natsu can block it with Earth Magic. Once we’re inside we’ll head to the platform to confront Eisenwald.” Getting nods from everyone the Fairy Tail Mages looked to Captain Bauland.

“Thank you for your assistance in this matter, Fairy Tail. May the Gods smile on you.” Bauland gave them a salute along with the rest of the knights. With a final nod the seven Fairy Tail Mages made their way towards the train station.

“You ready Erza?” Natsu asked his redheaded Mate as they led the group towards the station.

“Always, Natsu.” Erza replied as they got closer and closer to the entrance. Both were ready to raise a massive wall of earth when the Wind Magic came at them.

“This is weird,” Lisanna mentioned as the seven were already halfway to the station entrance.

“Yeah, there’s been no retaliation, none of the Wind Magic that the Captain mentioned.” Gray agreed as they followed behind Erza and Natsu.

“Are they actually going to let us get inside?” Cana questioned as Natsu and Erza reached the entrance without any resistance.

“I don’t know if I like this…” Lucy looked wary as Happy rode on her shoulder.

“Aye, this is weird.” Happy nodded as he looked at the windows of the station to try and spot any observers.

The seven Fairy Tail mages made it inside the station without any resistance. The whole group was on alert, prepared for a sudden ambush, as they made their way towards the train platforms. The ambush never came and they made it to their destination without trouble. Across from them, standing in front of a train, were roughly thirty people. One man, shirtless and holding a large scythe, sat atop the train car that the rest of the men stood before.

“I knew it,” The scythe-wielder chuckled. “They called the closest Mage Guild for help. “I knew you’d show up, Fairy Tail.”

“So, you’re Erigor, huh?” Mira didn’t look impressed by the man.

“Indeed I am.” Erigor replied with amused smirk. He was a rather tall, lean-built and man with silver hair, which was pointing upwards in spiky strands on top of his head, but hung down to the left of his face in a distinctive way. His hair partially covered his face and reached down to his shoulders. His eyes were dark and he had an elongated face with sharp features and somewhat pointed ears. His eyes were circled by dark lines and each of them had a simple tattoo right below it, consisting of a pointed line going down vertically, crossed with two more, larger horizontal lines. The upper part of his body is similarly tattooed, but with much larger and more intricate, blue-colored motifs, which took on spiraling forms, and adorn his shoulders, biceps, pectorals and back. He was wearing dark-blue, torn hakama pants and a black scarf around his neck.

“What are you all after?” Erza demanded, her Magic Power beginning to spike and form a slight aura around her. “What happens to you next depends on your answer.”

“We just want to play,” Erigor remarked tossing his left hand out to the side. “We’re not getting work, so we have all the time in the world on our hands.” The Eisenwald members all started cracking up at that, some even outright laughing.

“I don’t see anything funny about this.” Lisanna had a growl in her normally gentle tone.

“Don’t you get it yet?” Erigor questioned the seven of them as he lifted up off the train car and floated through the air.

“He’s flying!” Lucy remarked at seeing the magic.

“Wind Magic, so he’s the source.” Happy focused on the flying man as Erigor sat sideways on his scythe’s handle like a witch might ride a broom.

“There’s something that train stations have that you don’t find in most other places.” Erigor flew upwards and over to a pole that had four speakers on it. “Buzz~” He tapped one of the cones with the back of his right fist.

“You’re planning on broadcasting Lullaby?!” Cana exclaimed, her eyes going wide at the mere thought.

“Hahahahaha!” Erigor and the rest of Eisenwald roared with laughter.

“You son of a bitch!” Gray growled at the Dark Mage.

“I’d say that there’s probably a few hundred people gathered outside of this station behind the little police barricade. Hell, if we crank up the volume and play the melody of death, it might reach the whole town!” Erigor had a demented smile on his face as he looked down at the Fairy Tail Mages.

“You’re talking about indiscriminate mass murder!” Mira practically roared at the Dark Mage.

“This is a purge… A purge of those that don’t realize that others’ rights have been taken away!” Erigor floated up higher under the power of his Wind Magic. “They tout their own rights and only work to preserve their own petty way of life. I’m purging the world of such fools!”

“You’re sick!” Lisanna glared up at the flying man.

“Their crime is to live in a world unaware of how unfair life can be! The Shinigami will mete out punishment!” Erigor stated with the same demented smile on his face. “The punishment we call death!”

“You’re not going to get any ‘rights’ back by doing that!” Lucy yelled up at Erigor. “It was your own fault that your Guild got disbanded!”

“What we came here for isn’t our ‘rights’, it’s our ability to ‘rule’!” Erigor spoke with sharp and condescending tone. “Once we rule, we can wash away the past and have absolute control over the future!”

“What kind of dumbass logic is that?” Natsu spat at the Dark Mage.

The atmosphere inside the station suddenly changed. Every Eisenwald member went stone-cold serious as they looked at the seven Fairy Tail members. There was malice in the air and Magic was beginning to fill the area as all the Mages prepared to fight. It would be a battle between the seven from Fairy Tail and the thirty from Eisenwald.

You fell right into my trap, Fairy Tail.’ Erigor smirked darkly at his thoughts. ‘I may have had to alter the plan a bit, but there are ones that must hear Lullaby! They’re the ones that must die first!’

“Your plan ends here and now.” Mira cracked her knuckles as her magic power began to flow and form an aura around her.

“You all take care of them. I’ll go play the flute.” Erigor smirked as he flew through a window that led to the section of the station that the staff operated from.

“Damn it, he’s going for the broadcast system!” Gray growled as he dashed over to a door labeled ‘Employees Only’ and promptly kicked it down. The black-haired Mage was through the door and in pursuit of Erigor in seconds.

“He’d going after Erigor!” One of the Eisenwald Mages yelled.

“I’ll deal with him.” A Mage wearing a headdress with horizontal stripes replied. He raised his hand and from his fingers black straps moved under his magic to wrap around a railing on the upper level and haul him up. The Dark Mage was through the broken window and on the other side almost as fast as Gray had bolted off.

“Natsu, go after Erigor as well.” Erza requested of her Mate. “We’ll handle these people and join you shortly.”

“Right, try not to kill anyone. They don’t look like they can take much.” Natsu threw a barb at the crowd of Dark Mages before he blasted himself up to the upper level with flames from his feet. He leapt through the broken window a second later, tracking Erigor by his scent.

“I’ll come too, Natsu!” Happy flew after Natsu and was gone in a blink.

“That bastard!” The tallest of the Eisenwald Mages barked out at the vanishing form of Natsu.

“Calm down,” The rotund, green-haired man next to him spoke up. “We have to take care of these five.”

“Oh we can take care of them alright!” One mage practically drooled as he looked over the five beautiful women in front of their group.

“Hell yeah!” Another cheered, his hands making grabbing motions.

“Should we keep them for ourselves or sell them?” A third man questioned as he gave each woman a once over.

“Ugh, the downsides of being beautiful.” Lucy lamented as she pulled a Golden Key from her belt and prepared to fight.

“This won’t take long.” Cana huffed as three cards appeared in her right hand.

“Why don’t you all hurry up?” Mira questioned the men. “I’m getting bored.”

“Get them!” One of the Dark Mages roared and the whole group rushed forward.

Erza requipped a sword into her hands and struck out against another three mages with their own magic swords. The disparity in both power and weapon quality was instantly made clear as the three swords shattered and Erza spun to slash all three of the Dark Mages a split second later. With cries of pain the three went rolling across the concrete of the platform with blood flying.

“We get the Model Sisters!” A large, heavy-set Dark Mage cheered as he was followed by six more Eisenwald members. The lust in their gazes was clear.

“Take-Over: Satan Soul.” Mira incanted as her body was covered in black and dark-purple squares of light. Her form changed as her ears lengthened, her hair whipped upwards, and her arms became massive, scaled claws. An equally scaly tail formed from her lower back as demonic wings burst from her back. Finally her outfit changed to a maroon leotard that left a good amount of her cleavage and stomach visible.

“What the hell?!” The large Mage screamed before his head was palmed by one of Mira’s clawed hands.

“I’m sorry; who did you ‘get’ exactly?” Mira questioned with a dark look in her eyes. The large man, easily weighing three times what Mira did, was thrown like a baseball into the far wall. The impact created a cracking sound as the masonry broke and the Dark Mage hit the floor unmoving.

“Fire Dragon’s Wing Attack!” Lisanna chanted as her body was engulfed in flames. A wave of her arms and an intense wave of fire slammed into three of the rushing mages.

“Hot!” One of the Dark Mages screamed as he and two others were blasted across the platform. They hit the ground screaming as they rolled on the brick and concrete to try and put out the flames.

“What the hell kind of Fire Magic was that?!” The remaining two mages that had tried to rush the sisters questioned as they tried to backpedal and make distance.

“Don’t worry about it.” Mira’s voice came from behind them in a dark and terrifying whisper. The two men couldn’t even speak. They’d never even seen Mira move! Twin cracks were heard as Mira grabbed the men’s heads and slammed them into the floor, leaving cracks in the stone. The two mages wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon.

“Card Magic: Storm Surge.” Cana mixed three Magic Cards together; Water, Wind, and Lightning, to create a localized storm around the four Dark Mages that had rushed her. Their cries as they were swept off their feet, deluged with water, and then shocked by lightning made Cana shake her head.

“Got you!” An Eisenwald Mage came out of his Invisibility Magic as he tried to grab Cana from behind.

“Crash.” Cana whispered and the Dark Mage glowed white. Lucy blinked as the man seemingly disappeared. It was a second later that she saw the man on the opposite side of the station. He was half-buried in rubble from where he’d impacted the wall. Strangely enough, all of the rubble was perfect cubes.

“Get the blonde! She looks weak!” A few more Eisenwald members called out as they rushed towards Lucy.

“Weak?” Lucy felt a vein pop up on her forehead at that remark! “Open! Gate of the Giant Crab: Cancer!” The Golden Key in her hand flashed a brilliant gold. When they light vanished a man stood next to Lucy.

He was fairly tall, with black hair that was braided in red cornrows and ended in a shape that resembles a crab's pincers. He was wearing a blue striped shirt and dark trousers with two aquamarine stripes on each side. He wore dark boots on his feet. On his pants was a ring chain in the right pocket and a hairdresser kit on the left side of his belt. He had a golden necklace on and his eyes were covered by sunglasses with green lenses. The most unique thing about the man was the six crab legs that appear from his back.

“You called, ebi?” Cancer asked as he took in the men that had stopped running towards Lucy. He could tell at a glance that they were hostile to his friend and master. Each of them held a magic sword as well and looked to be trying to puzzle out his sudden appearance.

“We’re fighting Dark Mages, Cancer, let’s get them!” Lucy smiled at her Celestial Spirit. “Star Arms: Cancer!” In another flash of golden light, Lucy had the twin shorts swords in hand.

“Right then,” Cancer nodded as he pulled out a two pairs of crab-themed scissors from his hairdresser kit. The Spirit wielded them as his weapons as he stood side by side with his friend. “Let’s get started.”

“You think you can fight us with scissors?!” One of the Eisenwald Mages yelled before he and the rest rushed at the pair with their swords.

In a blur the men lost track of Cancer. They stopped running, looking around for their opponent. When they heard the tell-tale sound of scissors closing they looked behind them. Cancer stood there, his scissors in hand but closed. He looked over his shoulder at the men before speaking.

“You’d be surprised at what I can do with these scissors. Your swords aren’t very good, by the way.” Cancer had a small smirk on his lips.

“Our swords?” One of the Mages blinked as they all looked at their magic swords. Their eyes widened as bit by bit, starting from the tip, their swords fell to pieces from a clean cut through the blades! It was like watching blocks fall one after another as the blades fell in perfectly cut pieces, each piece only a couple centimeters in length.

“Don’t forget me!” Lucy stepped into the guard of one of the stunned men and her twin swords flashed out. Again and again the blonde moved, always keeping her opponents in sight as she slashed the Dark Mages. The men cried out as wounds opened up and blood flew through the air. In only a few moments four Mages fell to the ground, each clutching their wounds or already unconscious.

“Aaah!” A man on fire slammed into the side of the train car and fell to the ground smoking. The flames disappeared after a moment as Lisanna stepped forward.

Lucy blinked as she looked around and found that in the time it had taken her and Cancer to deal with the four Eisenwald Mages that had come at her, the other twenty five or more had all been wiped out by Lisanna, Mira, Cana, and Erza. Dark Mages were beaten, bleeding, soaked, and lying all over the platform. The blonde Celestial Spirit Mage could only look on in shock at a whole Dark Guild, barring two members, being wiped out so quickly.

This is the power of Fairy Tail.’ Lucy thought to herself in awe.

“Is everyone alright?” Lisanna asked with a smile on her face.

“I’m fine.” Lucy spoke up with a small smile of her own. She was fairly certain that question had been mostly directed at her.

“This wasn’t really a challenge.” Mira shook her head, already reverted back to her normal state. “If it wasn’t for that Lullaby, they wouldn’t have dared to do something like this.”

“It makes sense,” Cana looked over the downed Mages. “These guys are the leftovers of their Guild. I’d bet any former members of Eisenwald that had real talent probably left and joined other Guilds when the Council disbanded them six years ago.”

“We should go join up with Natsu and Gray.” Erza stated as she headed towards the door that Gray had kicked down.

-Minutes Earlier ~ Station Broadcasting Room-

“There!” Gray saw the door marked ‘Broadcast’ and kicked it open. He had a spell on his lips to use, but stopped when he saw that no one was in the room. “What the hell? Why isn’t he here? If he wants to broadcast Lullaby then he has to use this room.”

A figure slowly lowered themselves from the ceiling silently. The Eisenwald Mage with the headdress grinned as he held out his right hand and launched the five black straps attached to his fingers at the back of Gray’s head. The black-haired Fairy Tail Mage ducked the surprise attack and flipped forward. With a pivot on his heel, Gray was facing his assailant.

“You have good instincts.” The Eisenwald Mage remarked as he lowered himself to the floor. “You’re standing in the way of our plan.”

“So the broadcast was a lie then.” Gray glared at the headdress-wearing mage. “Look, I know you guys don’t work for a living anymore. But don’t you have anything else to do?”

“Anyone that gets in the way of our plans will find themselves dead.” The Dark Mage readied both of his hands. The black straps on his fingers waving under the force of his magic. With a quick swing of both arms, all ten straps whipped at Gray with force. They never hit their target though. A wall of ice stopped the attack dead. “Ice?” The Eisenwald Mage blinked at the sudden construct.

“If your goal isn’t to broadcast Lullaby, then you’re going to tell me what it really is.” Gray glared at the man as he dispelled his wall and the temperature in the room began to drop quickly. Whit mist began to waft off Gray’s body as he tapped into his Magic.

“You don’t understand why we stopped the trains?” The Dark Mage grinned maliciously at the Ice Mage. “Why don’t you think about what’s at the end of this particular line as you lay dying!” He whipped all ten black straps at Gray again.

“Freeze.” Gray’s eyes were wide, but there was a near murderous rage in them as he quickly put the pieces together. Everything in the room was instantly encased in thick ice, even the ten straps had frozen in midair. The Eisenwald Mage stared in horror from within his icy prison as Gray approached him. “You’re going to tell me everything, or I’m going to leave you entombed in ice and find your other Dark Mage friends and start asking them.” A punch to the face broke the ice covering the headdress-wearing man’s face. He gasped for breath even as said breath frosted over instantly and his teeth chattered from the cold. “Talk, now.” Gray demanded with eyes colder than the ice encasing the Dark Mage.

-With Natsu-

“Why’d Erigor come outside?” Natsu wondered as he kept his hair back from the wind. “I thought he wanted to broadcast the Lullaby’s Death Magic through the speakers?”

“Why is the wind picking up speed?” Happy asked as he held onto Natsu’s shoulder. “This isn’t natural!”

Happy was proven right as a towering wall of wind wrapped around the entire train station. The howling of the wind turned into an almost keening shriek as the air rotated faster and faster around the station. Natsu and Happy both felt the force of the obvious spell as it fully formed. It was powerful, ridiculously so, and Natsu wondered why Erigor would burn so much of his magic to cast this spell.

“The wind is throwing off my ability to track Erigor’s scent.” Natsu growled as he looked around at the minor damage the towering spell was causing to the surrounding parts of Oshibana. Everything that wasn’t nailed down was being tossed about and even the knight squadron had been forced to retreat indoors.

“That’s why they stayed here for so long!” Happy exclaimed suddenly. “Erigor was building up this spell!”

“Is that why?” Natsu questioned his flying feline friend. It would make some sense from a magical point of view. Building up a powerful spell over time could let you cast it at full power without exhausting yourself. If Erigor had been holding his position to construct this spell for the whole time, then he’d probably not lost nearly as much of his overall reserves as he would have if he just cast it all at once.

“He’s probably trying to trap everyone inside!” Happy yelled over the ever-increasing wind.

“Where is Erigor though?” Natsu yelled back as the wild winds made scent tracking impossible. The two both began to look around. For Erigor to activate his spell he’d have to be close enough. But neither Natsu nor Happy saw the man. It was a glint of light, sunlight reflecting off metal, which drew Happy’s attention.

“Natsu! There he is! He’s flying away!” Happy yelled while pointing to a figure in the sky that was rapidly becoming just a dot in the sky. The glint had been the large blade of Erigor’s scythe catching the light as the man turned and flew off.

“Thinks he can run away? Let’s catch him Happy!” Natsu called out.

“Aye sir!” Happy expanded his Aera Magic wings and grabbed the back of Natsu’s black vest. In seconds the duo was airborne and chasing after Erigor.

“He’s pretty fast, can you catch him?” Natsu asked the blue cat.

“He might be fast,” Happy had a look of determination on his face. “But I’m faster!” His white wings flashed with a silver light before the duo blasted forward in a blur. “MAX SPEED!” Happy declared as the distance between them and Erigor started to rapidly shrink.

Just you wait, Erigor!’ Natsu growled as Happy raced to catch up with the Dark Mage.

You know, trapping a Dragon King in a Wind Wall is a very terrible idea when he has Earth Dragon Slayer Magic, and Magma Dragon Slayer Magic.

Kairomaru

Natsu and Happy aren't trapped, they're chasing after Erigor. Everyone else 'would' be trapped, but both Erza and Virgo are a thing, so yeah.
