Cooper did not get nominated for director. Only Oppenheimer and zone of interest of the movies reacted to here. But cooper and Carey mulligan as his wife both got lead acting nominations.

I predict that Oppenheimer will win just because it has so much momentum overall and it sweeped the precursor awards as far as I can tell. I agree with you I would vote for Oppenheimer. I think Zone Of Interest is the most likely upset contender simply because it is using sound in such a unique way.
