Gantz, the anime the bullied boy is a fan of but the robot boy doesn't like, is probably the most famous work by the guy who made this. It's kinda cool that he references his own older work. Gantz is probably my favorite manga but it's anime adaptation has a similar problem to the Berserk anime, in that it only adapts about 20% of the manga. I haven't seen one piece but thought you might appriciate the reference to it, unsure what Oda feels about being referenced in this >_< Akira Kurasawa (who made the samurai movies the magnificent Seven and A Fist Full of Dollars are based on) made a movie kinda like "It's a wonderful life" about an old man diagnosed with stomach cancer, the author admits this show's old guy protagonist is basically lifted from that character. Of course, the character doesn't get robot superpowers in the 1950s movie xD "Jump" is a weekly manga magazine that contains lots of different stories. Naruto, my hero academia, dragon ball, death note and One piece, used to run in it, many other manga that later got big enough to be published as their own thing started out there. It was briefly sold in English but it hasn't been for a long time.
