I don't know what you mean by "German anime", but this show was produced by studio Madhouse, which is a Japanese animation studio that produced shows like Death Note and both Hunter x Hunter shows. This show is SET in Germany but the show itself was not produced in Germany.

Your story from 23:00-30:00 was incredibly heartbreaking. If that were me I would've have just followed the execs orders and film, the pilot. It would be heartbreaking for the two actresses, but it would at least ensure that the other actors would have a pilot and potentially a show. I would've just promised them a refused role later on in the series or in another project later on down the line. But that's just me and like you said it's easier to say that you would've done something differently, but at the end of the day when you're personally involved you never know what decision you would make. A few questions: 1) Who was the unknown actor who blew up after the fact? 2) Who was the established actor that was cast for the pilot? You mentioned that it was the antagonist. 3) Would I be able to find any info of the pilot online or is it essentially lost media? No script, no interviews, no press releases, etc.
