Now that the entire class survived the first round, they're REALLY gonna have a target on their backs

I agree with you that it was a bit convenient that the whole class made it through the first round, but it was just the first round, and they are from a top school (even though everyone knowing their quirks put them at a disadvantage)- and teamwork definitely helped even though they were split into smaller groups than they had initially planned. Todoroki/icyhot (I love Bakugo’s nickname for him so I’ll use it, though I think if you were watching the Japanese version, it’s usually translated as “half and half bastard,” which is alright, but I like the dub version better) got really lucky he made it going solo, and Bakugo’s lucky that Kirishima and Kaminari wouldn’t leave him alone (for all of his hateful bluster, I don’t think he actually hates them)- I really like their friendship. You’ve probably picked up that for a lot of the characters, their quirks are a reflection of their personality- during the sports festival/cavalry round, Kirishima told Bakugo he could handle his explosions- and though he meant that literally (with his hardening quirk), he can also handle his figurative explosions. After the rescue when Bakugo was ranting about it not actually being a rescue, Kirishima just smiled and said “You’re welcome” lol. Anyway, then we had Aizawa/Eraser talking about Midoriya and Bakugo’s influence on the whole class- I think Midoriya has a bigger impact, but Bakugo’s “must win” passion has definitely made an impact on many of them as well

One of the next upcoming episodes is a filler episode, I believe episode 20 if I’m not mistaken- you’ll know it when it happens, it’s kind of jarring. Though not a bad episode (imo), it’s a “break” from the current happenings, and has a bit of fourth wall breaking promoting one of the movies that was about to release as this was initially airing. The events in the episode and in the movie getting promoted happen before the summer training camp (so All Might hasn’t retired yet). From what I understand, the week this was initially released, there was some kind of holiday or special celebration of some kind in Japan, and most of the currently running anime just took the week off, but My Hero decided to release this episode instead- which I guess was good for fans to get something rather than nothing, but now when streaming/binging it can just feel out of place. And if you do want to check out the movies (which are considered canon, but imo are skippable as they are just side plots that aren’t referenced in the main story and don’t introduce anything that you’ll be lost in the main story if you don’t watch), you could check out Two Heroes after this season if you want (since you’ll see the promotion for it), or just check them all out once you’re caught up. This movie is the only one I’ve seen so far since it was recently added to Crunchyroll

I guess I missed these comments somehow, LOL. But yeah, now that I see your explanation here the filler makes a lot more sense

That's interesting about Midoriya affecting the entire class. I hadn't really thought about it like that. Sometimes strong personalities rub off on people without either side realizing it
