I have no clue how Katua understands any of the alien language. I guess she might have been adopted when she was an older baby (too young to remember being an alien but old enough to have picked up some basic words like "mamma" and "pappa") but it's still kinda strange that it's thrown in here unexplained

The thing in pee that plants need is phosphorus. We're running out of economically accessible reserves of the stuff, so it's profitable to extract it from urine at scale, so a lot of wastewater treatment plants do that. I had to write an essay on how phosphorus for fertilizer is running out back in college, so I'm tempted to rant on and on about it when given the chance, but I'll resist.

I'm endlessly curious so any time you want to info dump I'm into it. Random question, I know somebody who burns wood on his property as he clears trees. Is it true that the soil where he burned so much would be a great place to put a greenhouse because the ash and other stuff is great for plants or am I wrong about that? Just curious
