"Hints" is a strange word choice but I'm guessing he means battle strategies to deal with the kind of situation the simulation is throwing at him? I'm guessing the redhead in the shower flashing Kentsu to make him run away is to reinforce that she's a tomboy? You're right that it's not how the situation would usually play out. I always forget she's meant to be about the same age as Kentsu since she's so much taller, kinda fits as girls are often taller than boys at that age. Disco lasted into the 90s in Japan, so you hear it in the soundtrack of shows a lot later than you would in the west The show's creator, in the show he made the year before this, used the same grasshopper movement for the alien robots. It might be impractical, but i think it helps the robots seem alien. For whatever reason this creator almost always has a scene in every one of his shows where "the protagonist has have been shooting at enemy vehicles for some time, then an enemy gets out of a damaged vehicle and the protagonist hesitates to shoot them" (it happened early in Gundam too if you remember). Simulations might only be as useful as the information we put in, but the same applies to any decision we make; we can only make the best decision given the information we've got, even if unknown information means what seemed like the best decision was actually bad.

That last point is very interesting. (It was all interesting but this one I can sink my teeth into) because you're right, we usually make a snap decision based mostly on intuition because there's too little info to make an informed choice. Hadn't really thought about it like that before
