IRL this battle was very close. Brutus was winning, but mistakenly thought he was losing (chaos of the battlefield and all that) so killed himself. I'm willing to accept the change, to get this parallel with how Julius died. Herodotus says the ancient Persians had birthday cakes, but they used honey instead of sugar, seems the Romans did too.
