The Harald that they said that Ketil pays tribute to is Canute’s brother, currently the king of Denmark since Sweyn’s death (and Canute’s just trying to rule England for the time being)- it seemed like we got a time jump during Canute’s episode, but it was just an overview, we were back in 1015 for episode 6- also, there is an extra episode 6.5 available on YouTube (crunchyroll I think), it’s really short, you could check it out even if you don’t record a reaction to it. Thorfinn really is like an overgrown baby, if you think about it, there are likely tons of things even besides farming that he never had a chance to learn about growing up on the battlefield rather than being guided and taught by actual parents or even well meaning mentors. It’s nice to see him get some spark back and enjoy this education he’s getting from Einar and others on the farm. I really love Sverkel, and the dynamic between him and Snake as well- a lot of reactors think there’s an actual relation between them since he calls him “gramps,” but I see that you get that it’s just how he refers to him (kind of like saying old man or pops)- it could be derogatory, but in this case it’s more like endearment imo

Following orders is important, but if you clamp down on soldiers too much they can rebel - at least, in this pre-modern period. Most of the troops pay came from robbing the people in the land they went through at this time, so banning plunder would be a big cost to the troops (even if it has obvious benefits if they're plundering a land you want to rule!).

I think one of the major themes of this series is the concept of "found family" and how that conflicts with biological family. We keep seeing that come up in various ways.
