I really dislike that we see Askalad plotting with the body double, it seems like it's put there just to mislead the audience, i don't see who in-universe it could mislead. I think Askalad did organise the 'assassination' (based on what he said just before it happened) but he isn't admitting it publicly to Canute. Bjorn was dying anyway from his gut wound, so the duel was kinda like euthanasia (they had beef from askalad saying he has always hated his men, which would include Bjorn, in the previous episode). I was sure fingerprinting was invented about 1000 years after this in the Victorian era, but google tells me the Chinese invented it before Rome fought Carthage! Still, it didn't really become scientific or systematically used until Darwin's cousin studied it in the 1880s.
