Eren didn’t alter any memories, Grisha left with the key in episode 1, and he “magically” had it after waking up from that supposed “nightmare” of his dad in episode 2

Episode 79 is a major mind blowing game changer- the significance of all of the Attack Titans seeing future memories, and from Grisha asking Eren why he hasn’t shown him what happened to Carla, just the memories that the future holder wants them to see apparently. So there is manipulation, but only as far as selection goes, not in altering any of the memories themselves (as far as I can tell anyway). The words that Eren used in the cavern to push Grisha to go through with fighting Frieda and killing the Reiss family are the same ones the Owl said to Grisha before giving him the titan. Eren gleaned all of this and knew mostly how his future would play out the moment he touched Historia’s hand near the end of season 3. And Grisha seeing Zeke and Eren as they’re in the paths walking through the memories is because he’s seeing the memory of it happening from Eren’s POV- Eren is looking at Zeke whenever Grisha is seeing him, and when Grisha seems to be looking at Eren, he’s seeing himself. And Eren kept Carla’s death from him to make sure that Grisha would be in a state of mind to pass the titan to him in his grief- at least that’s my understanding of it- so Eren needed his mother to die in order to set all of this in motion- all of the previous Attack titans were driven by the future will of Eren for freedom passed down through the memories. “It was Eren all along” lol
