Captain Monty's Book Cavalcade is a reference to Inside the Actors Studio, an American talk show hosted by James Lipton from 1994-2018. The show would feature successful and accomplished actors, directors and writers would be interviewed and would answer questions from acting students. These sessions were also taped, edited, and broadcast on television for the general public to see. I'm not sure if the Captain Monty's characterization is based on or reference to Orsen Wells. Unfortunately, Lipton died from cancer in 2020 at the age of 93.
