dont really think it matters much in this series too avoid the titles. Rome was one of the Most Expensive shows out there S1 was 10million $ per episode iirc. if im right it wasnt just for show that the Soldiers dressed casually i believe it was forbidden for Soldiers to be inside the city Armed and Clothed as Soldiers in Normal Times exceptions being if they where in Thriumph. The pompeian that died first was one of the group that cheated titus pullo in the dice game father or friend to the cheater that was killed
