Great reaction- I think they’re still referred to as trainees at this point because even though they’ve graduated, they haven’t yet officially picked the regiment they want to join (garrison, scouts/survey corps, or military police- which is only an option for those in the top 10). I think when I first started watching, Mikasa was my favorite of the main trio, but it quickly shifted to Armin- Hannes summed them up pretty well- Mikasa is the muscle, Armin is the brain, and Eren the sheer force of will. I know you sometimes have trouble with names, and hearing these mostly “European” names said by Japanese voice actors might not always help you keep them straight- maybe you could check out moments/scenes in the English version to help with pronunciations- like I think the first scene of episode 4 where the Commandant is naming off a lot of the main ones and commenting about them.
