Just wanted to take a minute to thank Leon for making me watch the second stage of QT's career. I badly misjudged Quentin, even arguing with Dad about him and now I regret that I can't admit to Dad that he was right and I was wrong. But what I can do is admit this to the world at large. I was wrong, the man is a fucking genius.

This is a full reaction btw: https://youtu.be/Vk7EKMyRKZ8

And thank you for the reactions. Did you catch the mid-credits scene?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSkEfKa8CDg

I did not! Have to check that out. I never think to check for that kind of stuff and he's not somebody I would think would do it.

It's not really crucial to the story, but it is a nice easter egg to the Tarantino universe. The made-up brand of Red Apple Tobacco has been used or mentioned in almost all of his movies.

It's believed that the character of Rick Dalton is loosely based on Burt Reynolds, who had a similar friendship with his stuntman. Rick Dalton's career almost mirrors that of Burt Reynolds through the 50s and 60s. Burt Reynolds even starred in a spaghetti western called "Navajo Joe" (1966) - very similar to Rick Dalton's "Nebraska Jim". Quentin Tarantino had even cast Burt Reynolds to star as George Spahn, the sleepy old movie-ranch owner, but not long before shooting, Reynolds sadly passed away. In interviews, Quentin Tarantino has said that Rick Dalton is based on several leading actors of the time, who struggled to adapt to the changing Hollywood movie industry, that happened in the 60s and 70s.

I totally buy Burt Reynolds as Rick. I remember this piece of trivia being a big deal as a kid (no idea if its been surpassed since the early 80s) that Burt Reynolds was the only actor to be the lead in 3 consecutive Top Grossing Movies of the Year. One was Cannonball Run, maybe another was Smokey and the Bandit. But anyway that illustrates just how HUGE a star he was at one time.

I didn't finish Kill Bill but the problem was that I'd seen Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, True Romance, and From Dusk Til Dawn all in quick succession so I was just tired of him and I thought he was just repeating himself. I think if I had watched the movies further apart from each other I would have been fine.

And just like Burt Reynolds, Rick Dalton might have a renaissance in the 70s and 80s movie industry, by befriending the Polanskis.

"From Dusk Till Dawn" (1996) screenplay by Tarantino, but the story was by Robert Kurtzman. So not really considered a Tarantino movie. "Natural Born Killers" (1994) is directed by Oliver Stone but wriiten by Tarantino, just as "True Romance" (1993) was directed by Tony Scott, but written by Tarantino - and both movies are considered to be in his so-called Tarantino universe.

Another fun trivia to boost the idea of Rick being Burt; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svP4XHZkRHc

Quentin Tarantino actually reveals it here, because he just can't help himself, LOL; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMvuAYvCqsY
