That moment when you thought Mustang was talking to himself in third person, he was actually talking to Hughes, his dead friend, but there are so many characters in this show it is hard to keep them all straight. I think quite a few of the soldiers at central and Briggs are given names (in the captions or referred to by name a handful of times), but even on multiple rewatches only remember Miles and Buccaneer (General Armstrong is a given and one of my favorites) from Briggs- and I can’t name all of Kimblee’s chimeras right this moment, but while watching the episodes they feature in can keep them straight momentarily. Maybe more was done in the manga with some of the “named but not seen/differentiated enough” characters, but it’s a bit much on first watch I think.

I keep doing 2 things that annoy me: Misnaming Mustang as Hughes and saying Al when I mean Ed and Ed when I mean Al. I honestly don't know why I do either thing because I clearly know who all 4 characters are. It's some kind of verbal Dyslexia. Dad used to do this all the time, say one name when he meant another, and I used to mercilessly mock him for it. Boy have the chickens come home to roost!
