Yeah, Hughes was kind of over the top with his “family man” characterization, but I feel like it was done purposely not to just make us feel for his death, but to contrast with Mustang’s sole focus on being a “career man.” Mustang was often shown to be irritated with Hughes (like in that post credit where Hughes told him to get a wife lol), but they were close. And the Elrics and Winry got close with the family, so we have yet to see their reactions when they find out. I’m not sure how far ahead you’ve recorded, but around here is where I really got hooked into binging the show- I mean, episode 4 was great, but it wasn’t a “I really have to see the next episode” kind of episode, at least for me- excited to see you continue from here

For me it was episode 4. This show has the perfect combination of characterization, humor, drama, worldbuilding, and plot.

I agree- I guess for me it takes some time to get in the mood to binge a show- when I realized I was starting to binge (a few episodes after these), I also realized that I had “casual” watched too many, and might be lost on some of the details going forward (like not noticing some of the times Envy was shifting for example), and since I really wanted to keep going and not rewatch everything yet, I read recaps for the episodes I had already seen in order to move forward faster lol
