well Rockstar did basically call Whitebeard an idiot when he ripped the letter so im ok with him being a bit harsh to rockstar :) who for somereason doesnt know that he is talking to the strongest man and could be killed or damaged without breaking a sweat :D he has balls of steel. Shanks has battled the next time we see their meeting i mean Whitebeard and Shanks in ep 316 they show a debrisfield of ships on the ocean right after that they show shanks getting to whitebeards ship iirc. So they killed marines on there way. think the only thing about that which wasnt planed was having blackbeard steal Whitebeards devilfruit if that would have been the case he would have aimed for someone like Ace or a commander of whitebeards crew so he could get the Navy and Whitebeard have a clash at Marineford.
