I haven't done one of these in a while. Sorry for that, BTW, but there just hasn't been anything that interesting to show off.
Flurby and I have been working on a major overhaul of the game's code. Back when I added mod support, I created a system that made it possible to add up to 10 modded characters. This was sufficient at the time, and it was pretty much the best I could do given my knowledge of Python at the time. Since then, the modding community and the number of mods have grown so far beyond this system that modders have had to find clever workarounds. Between this and my own ideas that I wish to implement in the future, it became clear that an overhaul was very much needed.
Flurby came up with a clever solution—a new system that allows for a theoretically infinite amount of modded characters to be added to the game, and this system also allows me to add the new features I'm planning without having to work around the old systems. However, there are a few caveats that comes with this.
Firstly, because of how long it takes to implement this overhaul, the next update won't add any noticeable features from the player's perspective. Secondly, it will break all saves and most mods, and it might introduce new bugs that need to be patched. But once that's done with, you'll enjoy a greatly expanded moddability and can expect future updates to flesh out and expand character interactions, as well as other gameplay elements.
I hope you'll have some patience with us as we work to implement this overhaul. I can guarantee you that it'll be worth it. :3
