Hi, y'all!

So first things first, I have not worked on the game this week, so sorry about that. The reason why I haven't worked on it is because I've been building my new computer. :3

Now, it's not done yet. I'm still waiting for some additional fans and extension cables, which will be delivered on Tuesday. This monster is air cooled, so I want to make sure that I have as many fans as I can fit in the case installed before I dare turn it on.

Also, given my streak of bad luck this year, there is of course the possibility that I messed something up. ^w^;;

Anyway, I thought that I'd share some specs with you.

Motherboard: ASUS PRO WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI (a workstation-grade motherboard with seven PCIe 4.0 x16 slots)

Processor: AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5975WX (32 cores, 64 threads, 3.6GHz)

RAM: 256 GB

Graphics Card 1: ZOTAC GeForce RTX 3090 Ti AMP Extreme HOLO (24 GB VRAM, 10752 CUDA cores)

Graphics Card 2: ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 ROG Strix OC (my previous main GPU, 24 GB VRAM, 10496 CUDA cores)

As I said, it is a monster. And provided that it works as intended, it will speed up my workflow and let me render images faster.

Holy shit! I didn't know you could fit that much RAM in a computer! You ain't lying when you say it's a monster!

theloneclaw

The motherboard can actually handle up to 2 TB of RAM, but that's out of my price range, lol.

Shadowfire Dragon

Damn my computer only does like 6 gb of ram

Darthdmun

nice build :)

DraconianTalon

So wish I could get a new computer half that good.

theloneclaw

It's a titanium-rated 1600W PSU. The build I modelled this after also used a 1600W PSU, but a platinum-rated one, so I figure that it'll be enough.

Metal Fox

Wow, this computers several grand, lol! You don't necessarily need two GPU's unless you need one for your monitor. They're different brands, so they may not work with crossfire or sli. Pretty modular system though, should last you more than most computers, especially since it has high environmental resistances!

DraconianTalon

I only have a basic understanding but from what I know is yes for most thing like gaming two is not needed and sli is something that was used for gaming but it can cut gpu rendering time significantly when doing 3d renders.

Just got here, but wanted to say I loved the free work you put out so much I decided to join in supporting. Do you have a discord account by any chance? I'd love to hang out with you sometime and maybe see if I could help out any.

Jesus, 256gb ram, what a monster...

Metal Fox

Ya, I've had whole renders that would put a Blender animation to halt on my PC, lol

theloneclaw

Actually, having two GPUs helps a lot. Daz Studios (the app I use to make my art) can take advantage of all available CUDA cores when rendering, even if the GPUs are of different brands.

Metal Fox

Huh, that's pretty rare, I'll haft to check that out! Though its hard to beat free, lol. I know that in coding Surface systems, it just sends the info across and renders its texture data; even multiple surfaces. So I don't see why it can't. Though GPU coding also has strict limitations, so the "autodesk" I use pry had some subsystems I don't know --That they haft to find loop arounds for.

Metal Fox

Looks like pretty good software. The interface makes me a bit queasy though, lmao! They have a strong interest in photorealism, which I can get behind.

Metal Fox

Anything to enhance my immersion with Sigrid and Elaine!!! -p-

DarkPiggie

Hope the build goes well

Wondering why you didn't go the route of 2 identical gpus
