As we all grieve Lensday and start petitions to Patreon to bring it back, I was on a walk this morning and had a thought ….

Lately, I’ve found myself not listening to music as much. I don’t know why. I’ll take Beanz for a walk and be too busy scrolling on insta or TikTok to turn on music. Well, today I changed that!

I put on my Pandora to one of my fav channels (YES PANDORA) which has been essentially curated over the past 8 years to what I like (YES 8 YEARS) and I found myself bopping around. Like, ‘having to remember other people can’t hear my music and also that I’m not wearing bra ‘ level bopping.

So, I decided, let’s go home and join the 21st century and make a teensy weensy Spotify playlist in case you want to bop around on your walk today. Speaking of, TAKE A WALK! It’s only 30 minutes :)

This one is very late 00’s. I’ve been in my nostalgia era lately. Maybe it was Tyler bringing up that Passion Pit concert we went to that I had completely forgotten about. It felt only appropriate to put a track of theirs in there. I bookended the playlist with ‘Of Montreal’ because their albums are quintessential to waiting for the subway in New York for me. They are weird as fuck, warning! (Remember the show I went to in NC last year where the back up dancers were dressed as crayfish?). We kick it off with a track about nihilism. Then it’s a random smattering. Honestly, I could’ve made this playlist like three hours long but that feels daunting and intimidating for someone to send you something that big. I get anxiety when I look at my Instagram messages and Chip has sent me five memes in a row. Too much pressure to consume!

SIDENOTE: I have been listening to Phoenix for forever and love the song Lisztomania but had not friggin clue what it was about. Does he love a girl named Liz? Is he crazy about making lists? Turns out its about a composer named Franz Liszt who’s music made fans freak out at his shows. Wiki says this….

Lisztomania was characterized by a hysterical reaction to Liszt and his concerts. Liszt's playing was reported to raise the mood of the audience to a level of mystical ecstasy. Admirers of Liszt would swarm over him, fighting over his handkerchiefs and gloves. Fans would wear his portrait on brooches and cameos. Women would try to get locks of his hair, and whenever he broke a piano string, admirers would try to obtain it in order to make a bracelet. Some female admirers would even carry glass phials into which they poured his coffee dregs.”

Get in line, Beatle-mania! Enjoy and let me know if you’d want more teensy teensy playlists. Perhaps a funk one next week? Fav Girl Riot tracks? 90’s chill vibes to be a little high to? Lesser known hip-hop that shaped my identity? Stuff I played for the hot minute I was single and lived alone? LOL. The possibilities are endless but the songs or not. Only 30 minutes always.

Yes!!! I started doing weird walks! Apparently curiousity and celebrating the weird has been shown to be a big part of optimism and happiness so I go on walks and look for the weird shit. And I’ve seen things in my own neighborhood I didn’t notice before! It’s been fun!

I LOVE when people share their playlists! It's one of the main sources I have for finding music I enjoy or forgot about. Thanks for sharing this one, and yes, please do more!! Funk, pop, hip hop, 90s chill, we'll take it all!
