TGIF: Things I'm Liking Right Now (July) (Patreon)
Content
Hello and happy Friday, patrons! How are you doing? Are you maxing and relaxing or are you minimizing and over analyzing? I think I'm somewhere in the middle. I think I've been maxing out my analyzing. I've caught myself thinking a little too much this week and getting a little too stuck in my head. So, to pull myself out I started looking around at the things I like. I realize it's been a handful of weeks since the last time we engaged in a list of likes so let's see what I've found when I pulled my head out of my ass-head and looked around.
Water Tumbl(e)r: I've received another basic punch in my basic bitch rewards card. I have previous punches from those years I gave myself bangs, my unending attachment to Uggs, the first time I got botox, and that time I got a dog instead of dealing with my feelings. lol. But I have a new punch for finally purchasing a water tumbler. Please note every time I type tumbler I have to go back and add the e. She's still got Tumblr in her blood! I got this very chic water tumbler that I saw a very chic person I follow on IG raving about because that's how good influencing works. I've only been using it for this week but I love it very much and it makes me feel like a chic girl boss bitch babe with her big girl boss bottle, babe. And that's great.
Crumbl Cookies: This would probably get me another punch on my basic bitch card except I think I'm way too late. Yes I missed many boats on this one before I finally caught wind. All we did was get high and look up cookies on Doordash. These were the first ones that came up and after they got delivered we learned how big of a deal they are. Crumbl is apparently huge. Did you know that? Of course you knew that. *shifts body to cover the rock she's been living under* I now know it's owned by Mormons (but not the church) and they change their menu every week and the cookies are akin to very hard drugs. AND HOLY SHIT ARE THEY FUCKING DELICIOUS. I've been eating them all week and I've lost my god damn Mormon-mocking-mind. Imagine if those Mormons thought as critically about their religious choices as they do the ingredients in their cocaine sugar circles? No offense, you do you, Morms. The weekly menu change is the icing on their drug cake to me. I've never watched the stock market but I will be watching these new cookie updates the way I imagine a money person watches the stock market.
Sharpie Pens: You're truly an adult when you develop an opinion on pens. And my opinion is that these .4mm felt tip sharpie pens are awesome. They write thicker than a pen and thinner that a sharpie and I just love them. I've been journalling/writing in sketch notebooks that have slightly thicker paper quality and no lines and these pens have been so pleasing to use. They miiiight be a little thick on regular paper stock but not unusable. Either way, if you're looking to spice up your pen selection take these babies for a swirl.
What a wild list we got going here!!!
Beekeeper's Naturals Throat Spray: The other week when Elliott and I casually GOT COVID immediately after announcing I had breast cancer I did an Amazon Prime order of whatever medicine they had that could get delivered ASAP and somehow this ended up in the mix. And I'm so glad it did because this shit is incredible. It's unlike any throat spray I've ever tried before. It's much more mild with a semi-sweet honey aftertaste that develops and lingers and is just so pleasant. Can you tell I've been watching The Bear with how descriptive I just got with the taste of this throat spray experience? What else can I say it's a good spray if you wanna try something new.
The New Rug in my Office: That weird little rectangle with the frantic and colorful geometric pattern up there is actually a picture of the new rug I got for my office. I used to have a plain off-white rug and wanted to keep things more muted against the VeryGayPaint pattern I used to have on my wall in there. But a few months ago I painted over VGP (I know! I'm sorry! I just wanted a change!). That beautiful piece gave me two great years of "gay eye of Sauron" (as they described it) joy but now I've gone back to basic white. And with the lack of pattern and color I made an impulse decision when I saw this insane rug on RugsUSA and got it. And omg it's so soft and so wonderful and so chaotic good. I know it's an acquired taste so this rec isn't just for this rug but for the site RugsUSA itself. If you're looking for a great inventory of decently priced area rugs, this site is awesome. Almost every rug in my house is from there and they've all been great quality for the price. So even if you hate my new favorite mushroom trip chevron foot fantasy, there's plenty of other rugs on that site for you.
Headspace: Headspace is the meditation and sleep app that I've talked about on the pod plenty but wanted to throw it on this list because I've been using it more lately. I'm trying to get into a daily meditation groove. At the moment I only have a 3 day run streak, but I've been meditating on and off the last few months. The year ahead is going to be uncertain and curious so one of the best things I can do for myself is try to treat my mind right. Meditating, like exercise, starts to feel fulfilling and necessary when you get yourself into a habit with it. So we're attempting to strengthen the habit now. It's always exciting when you cross that threshold with something that initially was a pain in the ass but then you start to almost crave it. I’m hoping meditation starts to become a joy in the ass.
Gummy Airborne: I linked an amazon listing but this is everywhere and you already know what this is. I just love gummy vitamins. I love how stupidly pandering they are to adults and I love being a stupid adult that loves candy in the morning. And post Covid it's literally the most basic bitch gesture I can make towards building a routine of health in the morning. At the moment the routine is healthy gummies in the morning, heathen gummies at night. Fun!
iPhone Privacy Screen: As much as I'm a basic bitch, I'm a sneaky privacy princess too. With the amount that I've overseen other people's iPhones and computer screens in my lifetime I know how effortlessly nosey we all are. So I'm gonna protect myself against your pushy peepers. I actually had my privacy screen on for so long I forgot about it until I dropped my phone last week (before the time I dropped it in Target) and it cracked. I thought I broke my phone, but the privacy screen protected the precious lil rectangle. So I ordered a new one and I love it. It's like a sleek, cool big muscle bouncer for my phone. No one can look at it and no one can break in. Cute!
Wowie zowie what a THRILLING list of things! Truly an emotional rollercoaster of violently mundane wares. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. And let me know what you've been liking lately. I'm always looking to distract myself with elevated items for the mind, body, and spirit. I hope you all have great weekends, be them wild or tame. And thanks, as always, for being here! 💚G
