TGIF: Some Things I Like (Patreon)
Content
Hello and happy Friday, Patrons! How are we doing this week? I just got back from getting my teeth scraped (aka cleaned) for the first time in a year and a half so I'm currently sitting and tongue-exploring all the new found pockets of clean between my teeth. It's a wild Friday, y'all!
I thought I'd do something different this week and harken back to the ol' favorites videos by sharing a lil round up of some comforting things I've been enjoying on a regular basis. Things! Stuff! Who doesn't love some lotions, potions, sips, and (literal) hot tips! Let's round it up in no particular order!
Cann Roadies: You probably already know I love to drink my weed. And, dang, the weed world is killing the drink game. I can't keep up with the new liquid concoctions they're coming up with. I got sent a tiny sample of a cannabis infused rasberry long island iced tea (from Pamos) the other day that I can't wait to try. I mean, c'mon a LIT for the curious cannabis lover? My Jersey heart is joyful! But the product I'm really into are these Cann roadies. They're cute little travel pouches with only 2mg THC each that are perfect for mixing with seltzers or whatever your go-to mixer is. And, in my experience, they're super handy to put in a bag and take to social gatherings/movies/theme parks/airplanes/family functions/etc! They're a perfectly mild low dose buddy that, I think, is a great way to safely experiment with drinking weed if you're not used to it, or worried you'll over do it. Also, their flavors are delicious! I don't have a favorite, they're all great!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: I think I found this product through some list of TikTok recs. And we all know TikTok is the guiding digital resource for all things having to do with doing life. Not to brag but my night time routine has gotten pretty spectacular. In that I mean I actually kinda have one now. I've taken the mindset of working smarter, not harder and applied it to prepping for bed. I've started to slather on a variety of night time creams/this lip shit and let them do their worst while I zzzzz. This mask might seem a tad 'spensive just for a lip product, but I love it. I've been using it for a few weeks and I've hardly made a dent in the container. Also, and maybe it's a bit of placebo effect, but I think it's actually plumping my deceivingly thin stiff British upper lip. That, and it also moisturizes the heck out of them and this year I think I've finally learned how to play the moisturizer game. Speaking of...
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery: Along with the lip shit I smash some of this blue stuff on my face before bed and let it do the dirty (clean) work! Again, it's a little pricey but this little container has been going a long way. Elliott and have actually been sharing this at night (on the occasions when I overly excitedly remind him that he should moisturize because I'm now all hopped up on moisturizing as if I'm the first person to discover this novel activity) and it's going the distance. Plus, the saturated blue color is very fun to put on your face at night after a few Cann roadies. Speaking of blue...
Blue Beauty Protein Powder: This is from a company called Moon Juice and I just love their treasure trove of powders and potions. I decided to buy this on a whim while I was purchasing some of their other powders (I put like half a tsp of their 'spirit dust' in my coffee every morning and I dunno if actually does anything but it adds some razzle dazzle to my evolving morning routine). It's a plant protein that says it combats stress and I needed something to try in the very basic-ass smoothies I make. I'm also just a slut for buying anything that says it promotes stress relief. This shit is delicious and fun because it turns whatever drink you put it in blue ... hence Blue Beauty. Except I make my smoothies with strawberries so the blue effect on the red strawberries turns to more of a gray/muted purple, but it's still fun to watch the colors mix! And, in line with the evolving theme here, it seems pricey but I've now had this bag since October and I still probably have a quarter of it left! Worth it!
Stumptown Holler Mtn Coffee: I'm not a coffee snob by any means. I'll drink a room temperature cup of black coffee that's been sitting in a pot for hours if that's what's available. But, I will say I love this coffee. Like wine, I don't know exactly how to describe the flavor profile but it's rich and creamy and doesn't taste burnt, which is how Starbucks and the like often taste to me. And that's really all I have to say on this one.
Dry Secco: I'm still on the not drinking wagon and I'm really loving it! I'm, like, a morning person now and it's still so weird and wonderful to me. My anxiety, my moodiness, and my sleep have all improved and I'm genuinely enjoying this level headed grounded feeling. I'll likely write more in future posts about the not drinking of it all but for now let me introduce you to Gruvi's alcohol free sparkling wine. This was another thing I saw while sifting through the endless circus of IG and added to cart without even paying much attention (ahhhh the unconscious doom scroll purchase parade we're all guilty of). They've been in my fridge for a couple months and Elliott and I finally popped open a couple on Valentine's Day to celebrate. I'm not much of a champagne drinker when I am drinking on account of the hangxiety headaches it gifts me, but if you are a champagne champ you'll love this stuff. This is just like sparkling wine, but better... on account of it doesn't have the nail-polish-remover-alcohol-after-taste to it. It's only 50 calories a bottle and is a little expensive, but if you're looking to replace your booze with a sweet but not too sweet alternative treat this stuff is delicious.
A Towel Warmer: I've already made a TikTok discussing my purchase of a towel warmer but I had to throw it in here because, well, I love this damn thing. I think I saw this on some gift guide list while I was Christmas shopping for my family and classically decided to purchase it for myself. I felt kinda guilty after I bought it, thinking I just impulse purchased something I'll surely never use. And something that wasn't cheap. Low and behold, I use it every time I shower! I freaking love this warm little bathroom droid that delivers hot towels to me when I'm in my most vulnerable and damp state. Y'all know I hate showers. Well, this cutie has changed the game for me. Okay, I still don't love showers. But I now love the 30 second moment of swaddling myself in a hot cloth like a safe, warm hug from the hygiene gods. A new level of self care has been unlocked.
Alright, that's all I got for you guys this week! Let me know if you have any creature comforts that have leveled up your self-soothing game. I'm gonna go make myself a weed cocktail, figure out what's for dinner, and get my Drag Race on for the evening! Oh, and some of you will be happy to know I also started watching that reality gameshow Traitors and I'm hooked. I'm already on episode 6 and it's likely that whole season will be eaten and digested by tomorrow. Weeeeee! Well, thanks for taking the time to read this and, as always, thanks for being here! 💚G
