TGIF: New Hair and Knowing Your Limits (Patreon)
Content
Hello and happy Friday, patrons! How is everyone's week been so far? Mine is going pretty well! I just got back from three hours in the hair operating chair and I am proud to report we have birthed a beautiful, healthy lady lob!
Ohhhh she swishes on the shoulders so nice! I got a little nervous when I woke up this morning, but then I realized I haven't had my hair cut short since early 2020 so it's about damn time for a change. They say the only guaranteed thing in life is change, right? So, thank you for your time, my beautifully straggly split ends, but you must go now. Onwards!
Speaking of straggly things, Elliott and I went to Universal Studios yesterday. Though we've developed into raging home bodies, we've been trying to make a point to leave our house on occasion for things, so a trip to Universal was had. We went on a bunch of rides, ate corndogs and a brick of fudge (okay, yeah, we might have had a tiny bit of weed before we went), got really into watching guests in the Harry Potter section try to use their wands on parts of the park unsuccessfully, watched an employee dressed as a hungover looking Dracula (I don't think the hangover was part of the costume) walk alongside strollers and weakly try to scare children, then decided to come home and slam some Advil on account of my adult body had had enough after the 5th full-body jostling ride in a row. All in all a lovely afternoon. One thing I will say I've become proud of developing as an adult, is a keen awareness of when I've gotten the most out of a situation and am ready to leave. I've learned my "out-of-the-house" body battery has a few really good hours in it, and then, like a big flesh roomba, it must go back to its base to charge. And I love that for me! There's something about honoring your own limits that I'm becoming more aware of, and it's been really helpful for me.
Speaking of limits, I just watched a video of Harry Styles ripping his (p)leather pants on stage in the middle of his LA concert yesterday. Have you seen it? It's like his junk tried to Kool Aid man their way outta his squeaky trousers. That's something I would have extended my social battery to see. But don't worry, he skips away on beat and wraps what looks like a gay pride flag around his waist as if Tim Gunn had been sitting in the front row screaming at him to 'make it work'. It's all very charming.
Speaking of charming, I just finished the most recent season of the Circle and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Has anyone watched it? I haven't watched since the first season. I fell off from watching that show because, as someone who has struggled to figure out their own relationship with social media, the cringe factor of the almost parody like use of social media as ridiculously superficial and over-the-top inauthentic communication overwhelmed me. It gave me digital chills. Buuuut my friend told me she was enjoying the most recent season so I gave it a go and, who woulda guessed, I liked it! I even cried at the extreme emotional parts! Yes, I was on my period, but anytime a reality show shows contestants heartfelt messages from their loved ones it destroys me. Turns out I'm not made of metal! Also I really, really loved the person that won (I won't spoil it) so that helps. Anyone else watch?
Speaking of, what else are you guys watching? Since White Lotus finished we've had a noticeable absence of new content in our lives. We're currently watching The Last of Us, and watching old episodes of a British gameshow called "Would I Lie to You" on youtube...which I VERY MUCH recommend if you need something kinda mindless and hilarious to pass the time! Other than that we're in need of new content so send recs my way (even though I feel like I ask you this every week lol).
Well, I'm gonna wrap this up since I'll be LIVESTREAMING with y'all tomorrow for my first ever BAR Flies! Woot woot! I hope some of you can make it, and if not no worries I'll post the livestream afterwards (so long as my dumbass tech abilities let me)! Until then, have a great start to your weekends and see ya tomorrow! Thanks for being here! 💚
