I've been trying to find resources - organizations to donate to, small business to support, articles to read, documentaries to watch, voices to follow - to broaden the way I can educate myself and help. If you've found any impactful/valuable links or people or resources or whathaveyou PLEASE SHARE THEM WITH ME/US!!!! ❤️❤️❤️G

Just thought of one more thing: the blm website is of course important, but maybe consider creating a linktree and putting it in your social media bios to be able to promote even more links and resources? (And you could also leave your own links in there somewhere at the bottom or separately ;))

For anyone who doesn’t have money to donate (and it’s also just a great project in general): https://youtu.be/bCgLa25fDHM

In addition to all these wonderful resources there is a dude from Philly named Maj Toure who travels the country teaching urban communities about gun safety and gun rights, conflict resolution and deescalation techniques. A big part of our problem is our reliance on cops to "save us" he helps people rely on the police less which is incredibly important when the police can't be trusted to handle even basic interactions properly. Maj absolutely will not be everyone's cup of tea here but I do think his rare perspective is very valuable and the work he is doing is going to save lives. He takes donations because the classes he runs are free to attend.

Yo, me again. This is a longish read, but it really illustrates how the roots of American policing are in slave economics. It’s a two parter - the first part covers the history of policing in America which is fascinating for all the wrong reasons, and the second examines the way the Supreme Court and the Presidency has reignited and upheld white supremacy across the country. Medium says it’s a 19 min read, but it took me more than 25, but it’s a fascinating contextual insight into American policing and racial tensions. Slavery and the Origins of the American Police State: From the beginning, some Americans have been able to move more freely than others. https://gen.medium.com/slavery-and-the-origins-of-the-american-police-state-ec318f5ff05b

This is very very good information. I knew a lot of this already but this is nearly a one stop shop that could help people understand how we got here and how pervasive the problem is. Thank you!

If there are any lawyers, law students, or paralegals in here, reach out to your local National Lawyer's Guild Chapter to get hooked up with remote and OTG volunteer opportunities. If you're smart enough to not be a lawyer (joke's on me), please consider donating to criminal bond funds and/or immigration funds. Immigrants (undocumented and otherwise) will often have to pay both, and immigration bond is often 10-100x higher than criminal bond.
