*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

Nice pick Tara! This is actually from 2005 - the 2nd single from their NEVER GONE album, which was a bit of a comeback for them after a few years of quiet. Funny Tara picked this as well because the lead single you could potentially hear/choose on my Nodemap mixtape this month. (As well as something from Mariah Carey’s massive comeback album, also from 2005). You made the common reactor rookie error of referencing the YouTube upload date, in 2009, there was ‘The Great VEVO Re-upload’ where many pre-2005 YouTube creation videos as well as some 2005-2009 clips got reuploaded to artists ‘official’ VEVO accounts. Anyways I really like the soaring chorus to this one, and I guess the quirky slapstick 80’s video kinda plays off it’s similarities to some of those big choruses maybe like Livin on a Prayer or something.

As a kid in the eighties (with an older sister who loved hair bands and introduced me to all of them), I remember absolutely loving this video when it came out. Specific scenes and moments just brought me back to that music and the chaos that surrounded it. I’m pretty sure all of BSB are older than me by a little bit, so I assume that’s music they grew up on, too, and that was why they were happy to make this video. But they’ve also always struck me as a little more willing to make fun of themselves than most boy bands, which I appreciate. I’ve listened to a lot of boy bands, probably more than any one person should (I feel like they were everywhere for a while in the nineties), and they’re still my favorite of all of them. I don’t remember how popular this was. I know I loved it, but my memory is terrible, so I’ve no idea where this song stands compared to some of their bigger hits that I’m sure you’ve heard. (Is there anyone in the world who hasn’t heard “I Want It That Way” at this point?) But I do remember seeing it on MTV, for whatever that’s worth. Lol. Also, sorry I haven’t been around much but I’ll be trying to catch up and watch some of what I’ve missed. This was a great pick to see. I’m really glad you liked it and that you played it on the guitar. This was fun.
