The next vid will come after this Saturday when we reattach the cylinder head to the 90, fingers crossed for no oil leaks. I've got some good footage so far of what we've been up to having spent about 4 hours lapping the new valves in. Everything has been checked over and besides some pitting where the rocker shaft goes, it's a good head! Hopefully we might get a performance increase with the smoothed-out ports too!

As you know the 110 has an interesting gearbox setup and the parts list for that has gone through several changes before the gearbox has even seen the chassis.

The latest development is that the 'carbon-metallic' clutch plate I was planning on using won't work with the new flywheel. This is definitely a case of "buy cheap pay twice" and it  would've been easier to have made one order originally from one supplier. Although a lot of money up-front this saves countless hours spent chasing and collecting random parts online.

The problem: This sprung centre section is too wide...

For the opening in the centre of the flywheel

Obviously this is bad news, but no one makes an instruction manual for fitting a Mercedes bellhousing-converted BMW X5 gearbox into a 110 so some trial and error is inevitable.

Thankfully after a lot of faffing about it looks like we have a good clutch setup for the 110. The new clutch I'm using is designed to work with the Tenaci flywheel as well as the Sachs Race Engineering 765 pressure plate. This should give a torque-handling of 600Nm which is enough to get us rolling. You'll see it's an organic plate and unsprung but I'm hoping it'll be fairly nice to drive.

The SRE765 pressure plate is standard on the old manual BMW M5's (5.0l V10 engine) and often used with 606 swaps as it can handle a lot of torque (Around 600Nm with an organic plate). There are two major disadvantages with it however, the price (£~300) and the pedal pressure which is meant to be pretty hefty!

Racing parts into an old 110 - Recipe for awesomeness or disappointment? Only one way to find out haha!

Thanks for following this project so far I know a lot of it has been showing off with pictures of big turbos and everything, but it's absolutely happening and you guys have definitely helped! I'm designing a sticker at the moment for everyone including some special extras for you Chooch+ guys.

This 110 started as a concept for a 400hp diesel turbo that could compete with LS3-swapped Defenders whilst keeping it all mechanical and somewhat fuel-efficient. The driveline is taking the longest and requires the most money but looking at it coming together I'm thinking the end result is going to be pretty mental, a really solid sleeper that's reliable being driven on the limit, which is what we're all about. No doubt we'll make some sick videos with it once it's done.

I wish I could bring you vids daily but a lot of things have been happening personally that have meant we missed working on the 90 last weekend. Rest assured there are some good videos coming, and you're seeing everything far before it gets to YouTube.
