Another story that just popped into my head one day, I hope you enjoy.

-

It was a beautiful summer day, not a cloud in the sky could be seen. The waves were calmly lapping against the shore, and the distant call of Winguls could be heard in the distance. Approaching the beach was an aspiring Pokémon trainer named Brisk, with his special sapphire Pokéball and homemade Pokémon fishing rod. Taking a deep breath with his feet planted on the sand, the young man just looked out into the ocean with determination in his wide eyes. A few weeks ago, Brisk had said that same beach on a dark moonlit night, thinking of giving up his dream of becoming a Pokémon trainer. All he did was look out into the vast ocean, his dreams as far as the water was on the horizon.

But then he saw a large Pokémon jump out of the water in the distance. At first, he thought it was a Dragonair or a Milotic, but in the brief moment the figure remained above water, he realized that it something more breathtaking. Doing a backflip out of the water was a large, graceful Primarina, its flippers spread to the out like wings, its soaking hair wavering in the breeze, with its glossy white skin gleaming in the moonlight. But just as soon as the figure emerged, it disappeared, leaving only subtle ripples in the water. The young man thought about that unusually large Pokémon ever since that day, given going every night in hopes of seeing it again. Eventually the beautiful creature would returns every night, frolicking in the water, doing tricks, jumping me in the air, even what looked like dancing.

Just seeing the mermaid-like creature would make his day a little brighter, every night was a sight to behold, making him appreciate just how amazing Pokémon were. Eventually, he threw away his doubt and depression, reigniting his ambitions of being a Pokémon trainer, and determined to make that Primarina his starter. After many days of planning and practicing with his new tools, he was ready to his first attempt to catch it. Mornings were one of the few times a day it would appear, and chose to do it during the day when his vision would be unimpaired. Waiting for its appearance, he stepped into the shallow water, and patiently stood in place with both his pokéball and fishing rod in hand. Brisk waited, and waited, and waited, but not seen so much as a ripple appear in the water. The ocean was absurdly common for an early morning.

Brisk let out a sigh, watching the water lap against his ankles out of sheer boredom. Even then, he could still enjoy how lovely the beach was at such an early time, just appreciating how clear the water looked on the shallow sands. Looking back up, he saw something that made his heart jump with excitement, there was a large unidentifiable figure moving beneath the deeper parts of the water ahead. It was hard to tell, but it likely could've been the mermaid Pokémon he had been waiting for. Firmly planting his feet in the wet sand, he hooked his pokéball on the handle of his fishing rod, prepared to swing as it slowly approached him. But then, a bulbous rounded shape began emerging from the water, appearing glossy and transparent, Brisk was temporarily blinded as the sunlight shimmered off  it glossy top. Wincing, the young man looked away to let his eyes recover, but when he turned back, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

It wasn’t a Pokémon at all, but a large jiggly bubble floating above the gentle waves shore. The about the orb was about 6 feet large, transparent with a beautiful rubbery shine, and was practically bobbing in place like an elastic beachball. Brisk had seen Pokémon blow bubbles just like it, but none quite so large in size, and so fair in shape. It looked rather cute, and dare he say kind of beautiful  in the morning sunlight. Not only that, but it was slowly floating in his direction, as if being guided by the gentle breeze. Mesmerized by the giant bubble, he lowered his fishing and reached out to touch it, his hand squishing against the soft surface. The young man almost blushed that its pleasant touch, the bubble so malleable and smooth, almost gelatinous in texture. It was like he was rubbing his hand against the hollow ball of jelly, feeling it wiggle at even the most gentle push. Brisk's hand even sank into the bubble, is if putting his hand on a slippery pillow.

For a moment, he forgot all about his objective, just taking his time to enjoy how pleasant the orb felt against his hand. Shifting his other hand to the middle of his fishing rod, he firmly planted the handle in the sand so it wouldn't float away, and took another step towards the bubble. Without a care in the world, he leaned forward against the giant orb, letting is weight rest against it like a massive beanbag. The feeling was nothing short of heavenly, feeling the bubble supporting his body even with its weightlessness, as if resting on a giant ballon. With the membrane squishing around his body, it almost felt like the bubble was trying to hug him back, easing him into sensation of comfort as he temporarily closed his eyes. The wild bubble started leaning closer, squeezing itself against him further as the glossy film gently wrapped over him.

“Mmmph…” the young man let out a comforting moan, feeling the bubble smoosh around him from every angle, enveloping his entire body with a skintight squeeze. Before he could realize what was happening, the membrane had completely engulfed his body, giving him a gentle but all encompassing hug as he was sucked inside. And with a soft pop, the pressure was released from his body, falling face first into the soft jiggly interior. Sitting back up, it didn't take Brisk long to figure out what just happened, seeing as he was floating above the water below him feeling the soft membrane underneath his hands and knees. "Ehhh?” he gasped nervously, again pushing his hand against the surrounding bubble, the inner texture was different from the outer membrane, as if becoming more taught to support his weight and carry him. The bubble was still soft and jiggly, but now more firm like some kind of soft plastic.

“What… What happed?” he said to himself, his voice echoing against the transparent walls. Flustered, he pushed his hands against the inner membrane, warping it out slightly before the bubble bounced back to its original shape, nearly causing him to lose his balance. The young man tried to standup, only for the bubble to roll under his weight as he fell flat on his face, fortunately cushioned by the soft membrane. "Ohhhh…” Not wanting to embarrass himself further, he just kneeled on his hands and knees as the bubble jiggled around him. “It's so slippery, what is this thing?" he asked, rubbing his hands against the membrane below him. Brisk's hands slid seamlessly against the surface, feeling it stretch and slip under the pressure of his palms. If almost like watery rubber, like some kind of cross between a bubble and a balloon.

The Young man's curiosity getting better of him, he again placed hands on the side is bubble, attempting to stretch and push his way out. But the bubble only wobbled back in place, causing him too in to tumble onto his back. After getting back up, the young man blushed in embarrassment, looking around to make sure no one could see him. “I came here to catch a Pokémon, how do I let myself get caught in a bubble?” he sighed with a whimper, looking down at the small waves lapping below him. "Where did this even come from? Only a Pokémon could've made something this strong..." Then suddenly, the bubble began to move, causing him to stumble forward again. When he regained his balance, he realized that his bubble is moving back towards the ocean.

Panicked, he pushed back on the wall of his prison, stretching and slapping his hands along the slippery surface. “No! Let me out!” he shouted, his voice barely penetrating the thick membrane. With no one to hear his cries for help, his bubble began dipping into the water, slowly submerging itself along with its newly acquired prisoner. “Please! No!” he cried, as if directly begging the bubble to stop. But all he could do was watch as the water rose over the walls of his prison, encompassing around his bubble like a closing iris, tilting his head upwards until the beach and the surface disappeared from his sight. Brisk was about to have a panic attack, frantically rubbing his hands against the wall of his bubble. But then, he looked around him, ceasing his struggles as he took a moment to scan at the surrounding environment.

All around him were underwater sand dunes, dozens of different kind of coral and seaweed, and schools of smaller fish Pokémon that would've been impossible to see from the beach. Calming down, he became mesmerized by the under sea ecosystem, it reminded him of how his parents used to take him to the aquarium as a child. It was like the bubble was taking him for a tour, showing him the breathtaking waters in which the Primarina likely frolicked. Slumping in his bubble, he took a deep sigh, thinking that he would never see that Pokémon again, just staring off at the surface as if watching his dreams slip away. "If only I could see that Primarina just one more time…” Brisk sighed. Deeper and deeper his bubble drifted, eventually bringing the young man to what appeared to be a rocky hill with a singe cave partially hidden by the seaweed surrounding it.

The Brisk  didn't realize what was happening until the his bubble had lowered itself into the seaweed, sitting back up just in time to see the cave as he was brought inside. The light surrounding his bubble dimmed, encompassing him in darkness before approaching in a small bright chamber within the cave. Upon entering the chamber, his bubble gently landed on a floor of soft sand, bobbing up and down before coming to a halt. As he looked around his new environment, he was immediately taken by surprise, it was nothing like he expected from a cave. The walls were decorated with soft glowing seaweed illuminating the room, with different kinds of decorative underwater flora lined up and planted on sections of the sand. It looked like he had just landed in some kind of hidden under water garden, struck with all awe as he took some time to appreciate the beautiful arrangement elegant plants.

"Looking for something?” said a soft feminine voice, slightly muffled but echoing through his bubble. Surprised, he turned around and looked behind him as he gasped in awe. Sitting in a large shiny clam was the Primarina, laying on it's side with her tail waggling back-and-forth, staring at him with a welcoming smile. Brisk's heart immediately skipped a beat as their eye’s met, seeing the Pokémon up close and giving him a much better view of her elegant form. The Primarina was even more beautiful than he imagined, blue eyes gleaming like polished pearls, skin as glossy like seaweed, and a beautiful head of blue hair flowing behind her like in an under water breeze. But as it continued looking around the cave, he couldn't find the source of the mysterious voice from earlier.

With a playful giggle, the Pokémon sat up from her clam and swam over to the captured human, looming over him with a benevolent smile. “So… what brings you to my humble little home?” she asked. Brisk’s eyes shot open, shocked that the Pokémon was talking to him, and able to do so underwater no less. The Primarina then leaned in closer until her face was only a couple inches from his bubble “Oh! That's right... I did.” she giggled licking her lips seductively. Spooked by her sudden intimidating expression, a cold shiver ran down his spine as he again began to pushing against the wall is bubble. But with even less success and last time, the membrane barely budged an inch, feeling much firmer than before. "Now now… What good would that do you? Even if you could escape my bubble you’re still rather deep underwater. You’re safer in there than out here. Besides my bubbles are much sturdier when surrounded by water pressure.

Heeding her advice, Brisk ceased his struggles and looked back over to mermaid Pokémon, her smile curling into a mischievous grin. "I blew this bubble with you in mind, specifically to capture you. It even filters the oxygen in the water surrounding it for you to breathe, so you'll never run out of air underwater or otherwise.” she explained, placing her flippers underneath her chin. "Brisk let out a relieved sigh, reassured that he wouldn't suffocate, but still wary at how he was a prisoner. “W-Who are you? How are you talking?” he asked nervously. The mermaid Pokémon giggled happily, tilting herself back as she floated in front of his bubble in a sitting position. "Any Pokémon as leveled up as I am can easily master something as simple as the human tongue, or of course if they have their own movie.” she explained. “Wait what was that last part?” Brisk asked curiously.

“As for my name, you can just call me Marina. Since I can talk, I thought differentiating myself  from my less literate my peers would be appropriate.” she boasted, ignoring his previous question. Marina then swim up to the top of his bubble, playfully resting on top of it as she looked down on him. "Now tell me, what brings an enthusiastic young man like yourself to such a desolate beach? I assume you were looking for me?” she asked. Brisk gulped nervously, but quickly sat up as he balanced himself on his knees with a confident face. "I-I came here to catch you, I want to be a Pokémon trainer and I want you as my starter!” he announced. For a moment Marina look surprised, but then she began to giggle, closing her eyes within an amused look on her face. “Oh… you're so funny.” she cooed. Brisk puffed out of his cheeks grumpily, disappointed that he wasn't being taken seriously.

“You know, I thought the exact same thing when I saw you.” she followed up. Brisk's grumpy face immediately disappeared, looking puzzled with a tiny blush on his face. "What?” he asked quietly. The Primarina rolled herself belly up, slowly floating around his bubble as she looked directly at him, letting the water carry her weight as she drifted. “Ever since that day I noticed you watching me on the beach, I'd always come back up the surface to dance and play, hoping you'd be there to watch me.” she said, winking at him. Brisk’s cheeks turn slightly pink, it was almost like she was flirting with him. "It always made me so happy to know that I had an audience, you gave me a reason to keep coming back to the surface.” she sighed with a sincere smile.

She then looked back at Brisk, swimming right up to him with her face was barely an inch from the his bubble. “Then one night, I thought... what if I could have him all to myself?” she giggled, placing both of her flippers on the jiggly walls of his prison, and looking at him with the satisfied grin. The young man looked away for brief moment, not sure of how to respond. "I guess we both had the same idea then?” he chuckled nervously. “Oh yes.❤️” the Primarina said, gently sitting down in front of the bubble. “Only I caught you first.” Brisk’s nervous smile faded, looking down at the sand with an empty expression. “So… I’m I gonna be bubbled for the rest of my life?…” he asked,  “Awww, you don't want to stay my bubble?” Marina teased pressing her nose against the membrane. “But isn't it soft and comfy?” she cooed. Brisk didn't say anything, just looking back at her with tears welling up in his eyes.

The Primarina flinched, trying to keep her playful smile as a young man stared at her with his sad puppy dog eyes. Marina was also lost for words, not sure how to follow-up as she wasn't expecting this kind of reaction. Rather than being entranced like when watching her tricks, the young man looked the same as he did that first night when she saw moping him on the beach, with not a hint of light in his eyes. Looking away for a moment, Marina rubbed her chin with her flipper in deep thought. "I could use attract on him, but that's only temporary solution… what should I do?” she mumbled under her breath. The Primarina desperately wanted to cheer him up, to see that look of yearning admiration on his face once again, to make her new roommate smile with her very presence.

After a few moments, she turned back to brisk, this time with him more for hopeful look on her face. “Tell you what, I'm going to sing you a song.” she said placing her flipper on her chest. “I’m good…” Brisk responded, shaking his head with a low tone is voice, still looking down at the sand beneath his bubble. Marina then flipped herself upside down, putting her face in his line of sight as she looked him in the eye. "Let me finish. I want to make you a deal.” she said, flipping herself back upright. Wanting to hear her out, brisk tilted his head back up, leaning forward against the wall of his bubble. Marina once again smiled, seeing as she once again had his undivided attention. "If you can listen to me sing without falling asleep, I’ll let you go, AND I’ll consider coming with you as your starter.”

Brisks' eyes and mouth widened into a hopeful smile, immediately cheering up as he wiped his tears away. Marina was pleased with his reaction, leaning forward with her belly down as she rested her chin atop her flippers “No pokéballs though. I'll be your partner, not your pet.” she said proudly. Brisk nodded, his smile still beaming with hope, overjoyed that she was giving him a choice. “BUUUUUUT…" she followed up, floating closer to his bubble. "If you fall asleep while I'm still singing, you’ll have stay down here as my little bubble companion.” she teased, playfully squinting her eyes. Brisk bit the bottom of his lip nervously, though blushing as she gave him flirty look. “You'll watch me dance, listen to me sing, I’ll even bring your bubble with me when I want to go for a swim. You’ll have the pleasure of appreciating my beauty everyday. But of course, if you ever get lonely in there…” she paused for a brief moment before pressing her nose against the bubble.

Suddenly, her entire head slipped through the membrane as if it was jelly, spooking Brisk as she poked her nose against his. "I'll gladly join you inside... hold you in my arms, help you go to sleep, eat with you, whatever you need.❤️” with a giggle, she pulled her head out of his bubble, crossing her arms proudly as she rested her tail-fin on the sand. “Ready?" she asked placing her right flipper on her chest. Brisk nodded, confident but wary, given that his freedom was at stake. With that, Marina closed her eyes, mumbling something under her voice. It was hard to hear it first, but the Primarina steadily raised her voice, she started to sing.

Bonne nuit, mon ange...

C'est l'heure de fermer les yeux

Et de mettre ces questions de côté pour un autre jour

Je crois savoir ce que tu me demandais

Je crois que tu sais ce que j'essayais de dire

Je t'ai promis que je ne te quitterais jamais...

Brisk couldn't understand what she was saying, quickly realized that she was singing in French. His jaw nearly dropped in awe, surprised at how fluent her lyrics and accent where “Learning English is one thing, but how in the world did she learn French?” he whispered to himself in astonishment. As if she had heard him, she opened her eyes for brief moment giving him a wink as she continued to sing.

Et tu devrais toujours savoir

Que où que tu puisses aller

Où que tu sois

Je ne serai jamais très loin

Brisk’s heart skipped a beat as her voice blessed his ears with her calming melody, watching her body sway back and forth with a gentle dance. But for brief moment, he found himself closing his eyes, gasping as he shook himself awake. “Huh?” puzzled, he felt his eyelids immediately growing heavy again, her voice echoing through his head has he slumped on his knees. Wondering why he was getting so drowsy, he looked back up to the Primarina who watching him with one eye open, unable to hide her smug grin.

Bonne nuit, mon ange

Maintenant c'est l'heure de dormir

Et il y a encore tellement de choses que j'ai envie de dire...

“That's right she's a mermaid Pokémon! It’s... some kind of hypnosis!” he thought, fighting to keep his mind from drifting off. Thinking quickly, he pressed both of his palms against his ears, signing with relief as he slowly felt his consciousness returning to him. But even with her song cut off from his ears, he could still hear her voice echoing in his head like some kind of spell. However the Primarina did not cease her song, still smiling down at Brisk even as he tried resist melody. The young man quickly found that his strategy was not as effective as he initially thought, again growing drowsy with her voice still lingering in his head. Looking back up at the singing Pokémon, he realized that thee lyrics in his head perfectly matched up with her lip movements.

Souviens-toi de toutes les

chansons que tu m'as chantées

Quand nous sommes allés faire du bateau sur dans une baie émeraude

Brisk just stared up at Marina, helpless as he was entranced as she leaned over his bubble. Suddenly, she pushed herself against the membrane, popping through the wall of this prison as she slipped down in front of him. Temporarily ceasing her song, she just took a moment to smile at him as she draped her tail around his legs. The young man's heart thumped in his chest as her lower half wrapped around him, she was still soaking wet, but her tail was so soft and warm he couldn't help but blush at her gentle touch. With their eyes lock together the mermaid Pokémon leaned and closer and mouthed a few silent words with her lips. “Time to sleep…" Marina then grabbed both of his arms with her flippers and pulled his hands away form his ears allowing her to continue her lullaby.

Et comme un bateau dans l'océan

Je te berce pour que tu t'endormes

L'eau est sombre et profonde

À l'intérieur de ce vieux coeur

Tu seras toujours une part de moi...

Unable to resist, he immediately began feeling drowsy again, his eyes slowly closing as her angelic voice softly resonated throughout the bubble he now shared with the mermaid Pokémon.

Bonne nuit, mon ange

Maintenant c'est l'heure de rêver

Et de rêver combien ta vie sera merveilleuse

His eyelids nearly shut, he slumped forward against Marinas chest, feeling her warm flipper-like arms around his back as she took him in a wholesome embrace. Brisk moaned comfortably as she squeezed him, feeling her rocking him back and forth while he steadily drifted off.

Un jour ton enfant pleurera peut-être

Et si tu chantes cette berceuse

Alors dans ton coeur

Il y aura toujours une part de moi

With his last bit of consciousness, all he could do was look up at the benevolent creature as she smiled down at him. “Mmmm… Marina…mmmm.” The young man only managed to say her name before finally drifting off, his head popping against her chest as she continued to hold him. Marina gently stroked the back of his head, still singing her lullaby as her angelic voice echo throughout her homely cave.

Un jour nous serons tous partis

Mais les berceuses restent encore et encore…

Hours later, Brisk finally woke up to see the Primarina laying atop his bubble, looking down at him as she waggled her tail happily, but blinded by a bright shimmering behind her. "Sleep well?” she asked with a smile. When once his eyes adjusted, he looked around and realized they were no longer in the cave, as his bubble resting on an underwater sand dune. Surrounding the dune was an expansive reef of rainbow-colored coral, reflecting in the beams of sunlight from that shined down from the ocean surface. It was like the garden she had in her cave, but far more beautiful, the very sight took his breath away. "I've been wanting  to show you this for the longest time.” Marina said looking back up at massive reef of coral. “Our undersea gardens are fields full reflective flora and plant life that always shimmer and sparkle in the sunlight that our clear ocean blessed us with."

The look on Marinas face was so peaceful and relaxed, Brisk almost couldn't believe that it was the same face of the one who had captured him. "Even on my worst days, this garden would always cheer me up. Before I met you, this is where I spent most of my nights. But I hope you'll spend some of those nights with me here as well, these fields are just as beautiful in the moonlight.” Marina gained looking down at him. Brisk found himself blushing, honestly charmed by the cheerful look on her face. But then, he suddenly gasped remembering their deal from earlier. “Oh no…" he gasped, placing his hands on his cheeks. “I… fell asleep…” he whimpered. “That's right.” Marina said, patting the top of this bubble. "A deal’s a deal, you'll be staying with me from now on.❤️” she cooed.

At first Brisk just looked blankly at the vast reef through the thin wall of his protective air bubble. But the beauty of the undersea garden was overshadowed by the tears in his eyes, looking up at the glimmering ocean surface that he would now never leave. Brisk began to cry, tilting his head down as his cheeks grew rosy. Marina took notice, hearing his snivels though the bubble as she looked down at him. "Hey, are you ok?” she asked, concerned as she slid down to the side of this bubble. Her heart jumped when she saw Brisk sobbing, slumped on his knees as tears rolled down his cheeks “Oh!” Marina gasped. Flustered, she slipped through the bubbles membrane, sliding up to him as she placed her flippers on the shoulders. "Nonono... don’t cry.” she pleaded with him. Brisks' eyes were closed shut, but still his tears flowed down his face.

“P-please, It’s ok, there's plenty of other places we can go, I can bring your bubble anywhere.” Marina said nervously. Unable to calm himself, Brisk continued crying as he started choking on his own sobs. Unsure of what to do, Marina looked side to side in a silent panic, she was completely lost for words and I didn't know what else to tell him. “P…Please calm down! I'll sing you another song.” she said, almost on the verge of tears herself. Even as she pleaded with him in her soft voice, the young man was unable to quell his tears, only thinking about how he would never leave is bubble or see his home on the surface again. Out of ideas and out of options, the Primarina let out long deep sigh, leaning closer to him as she placed her flippers on his cheeks. “Please look at me…” she asked calmly.

Though still crying, Brisk opened his eyes and looked at the mermaid Pokémon as she pulled him closer. “Do you want to go back to the surface?" she asked sincerely. Brisk calmed down a little bit, getting his sobs under control as he gently nodded to her. Though a bit disappointed, she closed her eyes for a moment and swallowed her pride. “Alright... I'll bring you back home. ” she sighed. Brisk wiped his tears away, still calming himself as he looked back up at her, he almost couldn't believe his ears. “But…” she paused, leaning forward as their noses touched. The human gulped nervously, knowing that she had another ultimatum. "I'm coming with you, I'll train with you…. But as your partner, not your pet. Plus my other terms still stand.” Marina announced, sounding a bit reluctant but with a serious tone in her voice. Brisk could tell that she wasn't teasing him this time, looking more bashful as her cheeks grew rosy.

The mermaid looked away from moment, blushing and she gathered her thoughts. "I want you to listen to me sing, and I want you to watch me dance as per our agreement.” Brisk smiled as he nodded to her, happy that she still wanted to come with him. "One other thing. I still want you to go swimming with me every once in a while. There's still so much I want to show you, and if you'll let me put you in a bubble, I can bring you places you that you could never see on the boring surface.” she said, still turning her head the other way in hopes of hiding her blushing face. Brisk giggled softly at the sight of her embarrassed expression, it was honestly refreshing to see this more honest side of her. “I’d love to.” he beamed.

Brisk then leaned forward and threw his arms around Marina, giving her a big tight hug. "Oh!” Taken by surprise, Marina gasped,  placing her right flipper over her cheek as she looked down at him. Brisk looked so peaceful, slowly closing his eyes he nuzzled up to her, calming Marina as she could felt his gentle heartbeat. With butterflies in her chest, the Primarina smiled back, returning his hug as she wrapped her flippers over him. Brisk moaned comfortably as she gave him a gentle squeeze, encompassed by her welcoming warmth as he relaxed in her arms.

For a long while, the two remained snuggled together in pleasant silence, hugging comfortably as the ambience of the calm ocean eventually lulled them both to sleep.
