She looks tired... (Patreon)

Day 02! This was originally a sketch that I did on the night of the Election, but it wasn't as good. Before now, it was only accessible in one of the Sketchie Books. I've redrawn the hand and torch since then, as well as added a simple background to give the piece a greater sense of atmosphere.

The ingame brightness of Breath of the Wild isn't so dark that the player will NEED a torch, unless the torch has other uses, like warding away nighttime enemies... But I've always been fascinated by the imagery of Link with a lightsource in hand, especially in the dark. That fascination is probably inspired by a piece of official art for A Link to the Past, in which Link runs through a dark forest with a lantern in hand.

If you've been an observer of my art for a long time, you'll see that this is fairly common subject matter from me: Link holding a light source, with a dark blue background behind her.
