Content

Thank you for your support during October. It was fun drawing Zelda stuff again, but I did start to feel tired after the halfway point... Daily art challenges are hard. At least I managed to end the month strong and played with interesting creative ideas.

Also hello new patrons who have recently joined.

Info for New Patrons

While I have, sometimes, had stretches of time where I do post daily, please do not expect that all the time. There's been a recent trend in providing near daily content, but I should probably slow down and spread some more value to the other rewards.

Although there weren't any concept art posts, make sure to check out the Dropbox Archive (which has some exclusive art) & consider looking through previous months' concept art posts & essays (there are several years worth).

Creativity over "Content"

Moving forward, however, I expect to shift directions somewhat. I recently expressed feeling stressed by my circumstances and wanted to change from a content-driven focus to a creative one instead. I've grown tired of playing the social media game & creating work for "the algorithm" instead of just creating genuinely awesome art.

Problem is... I don't really know what that is supposed to look like. My Patreon has changed a lot in the time that I've run it, although gradually in small ways. But what does a Patreon focused on creative expression, rather than twitter content, look like?

I don't follow any Patreons that focus on creating long-form creative projects, such as games, comics, and stories... So I don't yet know how to structure an experience around that. If I wanted to spend a lot of time doing game dev, for example... How do I make the wait between content updates interesting? What is the best way to show off new things or engage the audience? That kind of thing, y'know?

It might take a while to adjust since I've been doing it my current way for years. But I think I'm generally going to prioritize my Patreon over Twitter and stuff, so we'll get there, I'm sure.

Conclusion

Anyway, I'm largely done working for the month.

Don't forget to eat & sleep.

While this month has felt especially high quality in terms of output, I’d not assume or demand that you regularly push yourself past a point of safety. Some of the long form Patreon I follow base their presentation on the fact that the creator has an established user base and so their posts may alternate in depth explanation of process and development with more occasional posts like if they attend long pose sessions, the only game dev one I follow is also a comic one and they post weekly, either about one or both subjects depending on what they have made time to work on during the week, explaining the graphics part of the game with how sprites are made and animations designed, and at what point of the comic page they’ve gotten to at the end of the week, explaining the aim of it in terms of advancing the plot.

I just wanted to say that I love your art and you're one of the neatest artists I've followed on here. I hate to unsub but I have to for my own financial reasons unfortunately. But you're doing so great and I hope you keep your confidence up and believe in yourself. Everything you make is so good! You fucking rock, dude!
