There have been a few multi-figure works in this month’s collection of work, fun expressions, and even progress for Dragon Breast’s concept. Perhaps there’s value in ridding myself of expectations and just doing my own thing – but I still need to do better.

THIS WEEK:

I planned to work on an illustration this week but changed plans after deciding to work on two comics. So, I needed time to prepare and plan my workload from now to November. I remember how much time I devoted to the prototype Beaumont comic in 2019, so I need to make the most of my time… I expect to speak more about this in the coming weeks.

The upcoming week will feature two Voting Poll illustrations, at the very least.

2021 REVIEW:

Following my grandfather’s death (Feb 2020), I set out to double my income, but have failed to do so… Had I been forced to find new residence by now, I could not afford to live. My career would end too. It is safe to say that I have probably failed this year.

It has been an uneventful year for my work, my art isn’t very good, and I don’t provide enough value to excite old fans or actively generate new ones. My work and I are slowly fading from relevancy, and your patronage will likely one day follow.

With only a few months left in the year, I don’t expect we’ll see any drastic improvements. Not with my current approach, anyway. I could grind on commissions, as that would technically increase my income… But I don’t think it’s sustainable and won’t serve to increase my passive income via Patreon and the like.

I don’t expect my upcoming projects to perform well; few people would actually care about these works, and even less would want to pay. But I do need to spread my “brand,” as it were. I need to create things that could generate interest in me as an artist… Long-term goals, y’know?

Let’s see what I can managed to salvage then.

Don’t forget to eat & sleep.

I think your art is very good, and I'm always excited for one of your posts. I'm not sure how you could boost your overall earnings every month, but I do hope they go up, and I hope you keep growing with even more backers. If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know.

I hate that your work doesn't get the attention it should, you always impress me.

I had the exact same plan in 2020, to try and double my income from writing so it's a sustainable career. But the pandemic has hit everyone hard, and that financial trouble also makes it hard to attract more support. It took everything I had just to stay at the level I was at, and I consider it a success that I didn't let things fall apart. Just because we didn't hit our goals doesn't mean we didn't do our best during an undoubtedly harsh time for everyone. I love your art, and I definitely hope it attracts more love and support from people. I'm rooting for you in your future projects, and just remember that you can't put all the blame on yourself for this past year. You work hard and I'm sure you'll succeed. We're all rooting for you
