[Concept] The Pirate Captain (Patreon)

The upcoming Dragon Breast one-shot comic will feature a small encounter at sea, and there will be pirates! The Pirate Captain, an orc woman, is the most important design to get right next to the Hero and the Dragon, since she'll be one of the main actors. 

It's tough creating designs for new characters, especially when you haven't figured out who exactly they are, and how they're supposed to behave. It's an iterative process where every new design might say something different, or it might be closer (or further away). Coupled with my limited visual library and design vocabulary, it can take a while.

I began to experiment with a simpler, more stylized design to better communicate the tone of something much sillier & funny. Emphasizing elements like larger heads, wider shoulders, thinner waists, etc. Perhaps I will play with these ideas more in the future.
