Long ago... Before the rise of the Church and their Great Witch Purge, the evils of witchcraft were kept in check by a line of kings & queens, with the revered Hero-Queen being the last to do so. But before becoming the Hero-Queen, she was simply Princess Ayn.

Just a short concept related to the Beaumont-verse.

The Concept

I've doodled this character a few times, but have yet to decide on an actual design for her. So, it's worth tackling that more seriously moving forward. Although she's no longer around, Ayn is an important component of the world-building, and will occasionally be depicted.

There's not much depth to this sketch, but it should still help communicate her basic idea.

Padded armor, like gambesons, are the historically accurate form of "light armor" that you don't often see in fantasy, so it does a good job of communicating the generally medieval aesthetic for her character. And the rich colours help suggest an elegant regal quality too. That said, I should start studying how actual metal armor works so I can better depict it.

Until next time.

Looking good. Of the examples in the hair style, 1, 6 and 7 are my favorites.

Oh, what a nice look at this piece of lore.

I love this design. Gambesons are not utilized enough in fantasy.
