Honestly, after everything, he deserves to be mean here, to be “petty.” Society always says that you should be the bigger person, to not stoop to their level, but a large part of society also tells us that people like David are sick and wrong, so fuck Society, and you be you David! Tear this asshole apart, maybe he will learn something.

It's like a notch above magic-smacking him in the face. But also the way you used this to contextualize the "present" situation of Fain wanting to talk to David years down the line is p well done.
