For the next Eddache video, I'm gonna do something a little different. Instead of a tv show or movie, I'm looking at April Fools Day (and this isn't, in of itself, an April Fools Day prank). I want to explore how April Fools Day has affected the online world, with its creative pranks, its successful ruses, and its utter disasters.

Do you have some favourite or notorious examples of an online April Fools Day prank? Let me know!

I remember there was the Google Mail Minions thing which took a bad turn.

Oh, and there's the traditional Homestar Runner stuff they've done on Fool's Day. Who knows if they'll do it again this year.

Ahaaa, but your suspicion has already led you right into my trap >:)

ThinkGeek would regularly put out popular fake product listings, and a few of them were so popular they were turned into real products (or in some cases the April Fools listing might be a trial balloon to see the reaction). A friend got me the spellcasting wizard cloak, for example. I actually saved some older April Fools pages, I'll have to see if I can find anything interesting.

I JUST REMEMBERED A LEGIT ONLINE FOOLS DAY JOKE It’s very niche to the Japanese sode of the internet, but they made a fake vocaloid to get people excited which resulted in the creation of an alternate vocal synth called UTAU where they gave this vocaloid its own voice just like the official ones. There’s an article about it too: https://tetomiracle.wordpress.com/about-kasane-teto/the-origins-of-kasane-teto/
