31:04 Animes are to spur on the Manga/Light novel sales. Shows tend to not get a new season once the source material is done. If they do, that just shows how much more popular the anime made it. Also with how many animes release nowadays you just have to fit in those 12/13 episode slots per season. Unless you are a really really popular manga/lightnovel or a shounen its unlikely that you get more. Shows that tend to get 2 cours bought into 2 slots at once. Those shows just have the expectancy to do well enough to justify the budget. There are also shows that just end on 20 episode (i think eminence in shadow did that?). They will still have to pay for 2 slots of 12/13 episodes in their entirety. A lot of shows rush certain things to end at a good point on episode 12/13 regardless of if they ever get a season 2. In the case of Horimiya they straight up went in with the mindset we will never get a season 2 but we want to tell a complete story so they cut a lot more.

I feel like this ep on Yotsuba’s pov about the whole event since s1 is the whole production team and mangaka’s way of giving us a reason why Yotsuba was the chosen girl at the end. I believed a lot of anime fans were salty about Yotsuba being the chosen girl, me included. If Nino or Miku was chosen, at least a lot of people will be happy for them. But Yotsuba with the least involvement (in anime screen time) was chosen thus many people aren’t happy about it. Thus they gave us this episode to explain why Yotsuba was the “ONE” from the start.

Also I'm glad to see these chapters animated. When I read Yotsubas inner struggles with dealing with her feelings I felt really sad. She really didnt want to believe she deserved it. But like we seen. She'd been by his side the entire story. She was the only one who initially wanted him around. He had to prove himself to the others over time but Yotsuba was there the whole time. It's why when the choice in the manga released and everyone got mad, I understood it. Yeah sure Nino didn't win but I knew she was never going too. Great episodes to finally come out. Even I had doubts reading these chapters that Yotsuba was going to accept love and marry him. I was terrified the manga author was going to bait and switch and be industry dish water and make Itsuki the winner. Great series. I'll be remembering and rewatching it for years to come.

I disagree, After watching the sliding in this ep I thought Im doing this anime especially the movie a deservice watching the movie first. This ep would fit before the movie.
