Out of the main cast Ichigo is far and above literally everyone else it's insane. That "Rival" classic shonen trope imo didn't apply to bleach before this arc cause neither Renji or Uryu (Definitely not Chad lol) were close to Ichigo at that point.

About your question on why Uryu is special. Stated back in ep 12 Yhwach only targeted mixed blood quincy with Auswählen. Uryu dad and grandfather are both pure blooded quincies. Uryu is the only mixed blood quincy to not be affected by Auswählen

22:20 I know y'all just be talking shit bout our boys but Toshiro and Rangiku... Aizen they are not. Not in the tactical sense cuz Aizen wouldn't have really done much different. He'd have let Bazz B escape then be like "how long were you under the impression I wouldn't finish you off" then kill him without him realizing thanks to kyoukasuigetsu. But he can do that because he's OP. Yamamoto level even before his ascension. A captain without his bankai and a lieutenant are not strong enough to finish off a sternritter like that. At best they'd have just broken him out a little sooner.

Imagine if they eventually did a remake of the OG series with this style of pacing? Cut out things like the 8 eps of running and other padding, and just jumped straight into things? Like, how insane would the Arrancar arc have been?!

I wish I was a noob to anime again cause while I try to enjoy it in the back of my head I constantly know what is about to happen in majority of the scenes in this episode. This episode follows the standard shonen format to a perfect T with how dialogue goes down and how one side fights against the other and how they explained their own attacks etc.... Maybe I should try smoking some weed to lower my ability to think and that might help me enjoy shonens a little better. Either way I am excited for next episode cause I still really like bleach. Hopefully I will be able to read more subtitles cause rangiku's huge titties were on the screen multiple times in this episode and I can't look away from them
