honestly all the boy band groups deserve a reaction to form your own opinion they all have fandoms the most popular leading international one was bts which is why they tend to form a lot of easy hate but the more the better. the more content and good music out there. keep the options open!

Their pre-2019 music is really good imo

I haven't vibed with majority of their group releases in a long while. Probably since around 2019. They've lost/stopped doing a lot of what I enjoy about kpop, so they're just not exciting or intereseting to me anymore. But before that, I liked them quite a bit. And their solo stuff is also more intriguing

BTS is an incredible group. People hate popular things because they don't want to admit they are late to something good. BTS is one of the only K-pop groups I can honestly say deserve all the hype they get. The group is self-made and single-handedly raised a nearly bankrupt company into a multimillion-dollar organization. The fandom tends to be very protective over the boys (which is not the group's fault anyways) because of all the hardships they've faced. I saw a comment once that worded it perfectly: BTS paved the way whether people want to admit it or not. The proof is in all the statistics. The problem with paving the way is that people want to discredit you because they have also worked hard. But your struggle is unique because you had to endure all the pain first. You had to be the test subject for everyone's love and hatred. You had to create solutions to problems nobody before you had to; that is BTS. That is why BTS more than deserve to be given a chance.

Princeofmars93

Just here to say, Lee where are those Taylor Swift reactions? XD

Remember what Jerry said to Elaine when he turned down tickets to see Mel Tormé? That’s kinda my take on it, but y’all have fun😅

Karel

i loved bts' music before they went to the us. after they went global, their music (at least the title tracks) got too pop-py for me. dope, fire, and blood sweat and tears are my favorites.

Dj

I totally feel the same way, now they music is just not doing it for me anymore.

Narutofreak94

Lol I love the spite. Honestly as a long time Kpop fan they have a very fond spot in my heart. They’re very wholesome people and their music is very diverse. It would really be interesting to see how you feel about their music.

Grelk

Idk man the bts super fans scare me with how vindictive they are over the smallest perceived slight against them or the group

I love BTS! It's all I listen to lmfao. I'm not super crazy psycho though going around bashing other k pop groups. I'm too old for that shit lol. I have listened to other groups which have good, catchy, cute music but I always stick to BTS. I have listened to Blackpink and they're great and beautiful but personally I can't listen to their music because I just can't relate to it or feel a connection to it: it doesn't tug at my heart and doesn't give me deep meaning. All personal preference though. Have fun in your journey! I've met many men who didn't want to react to BTS at first cause they think it's for screaming girls (lol) or they're just uncomfortable with that whole culture (boys wearing makeup or w.e the case is) but you can look past it and accept and embrace other cultures and what's considered normal there. They have amazing vocalists and rappers I think you'd find it cool, their music is very artistic.

All artists will change and evolve as they get up in age. BTS really has some old classical bangers! :) Even BTS themselves said once they broke into the US and did butter, permission to dance etc; they said they didn't even know who they were anymore. That's what happens when you appeal to the masses, globally. They deserve their recognition and even if you don't like their music now, it's made them who they are today let's pray for 2025 once they comeback after serving in the military.

Karel

"thats what happens when you appeal to the masses, globally" exactly. i became a kpop fan back in 2008 because i genuinely enjoy the kpop feel. when they adapted to american pop, i felt out of love with them. but they def deserve all their achievements.

Karel

lol same. it's interesting because there are kpop groups with a lot of scary stans and you have groups like "seventeen" who has the healtiest fandoms. 😂

Snax

Honestly though the biggest thing I've noticed is that the people who say they hate BTS are just ignorant and hate them just because they're popular. And it actually confuses me how you can hate someone you don't even know. I also don't understand people who say they just don't like their type of music when their discography is so diverse. It truly just proves that people hate just to hate, which is ironic because they have a song just for people like that.

It is for this reason that I don't listen to anything from kpop even though I like kdrama, the fan base becomes a bit toxic no matter what group it belongs to xD

Podcast Fandom Premium

It always some butthurt older K-pop stan, too. Like, I’m sorry your group from the early aughts didn’t do all of this.

Podcast Fandom Premium

I asked “who the hell is G-Dragon” and got death threats, called the n-word, and they attempted to doxx me. K-pop in general, and largely by design, has toxic fandoms.

Snax

What some fans say don't reflect the talent or the quality of the artist. You need to be able to separate the music from the fanbase. I wouldn't listen to any music or watch most western dramas if I couldn't separate fan from content. EDIT: I'm sorry if what I said may have come off as rude. I hope you have a day.

Snax

Your comment makes no sense. Kpop literally derived their genre and inspiration from western music. BTS hasn't changed their sound. They added to it. Their newer albums hold the same feel as their older ones. They made 'poppy' music in the past like they make hiphop music currently. Their albums have always been a mix of different genres. EDIT: I'm sorry if you thought I was rude before. I'm trying to be better. I don't think calling me triggered was correct, as I don't particularly care if you like BTS or not. I was making a rebuttal to what I saw as narrow minded thinking. I think if you want to make an argument, you can't always just call people triggered if they don't agree with your opinion either. You came off a little hypocritical with that statement as well. Anyway, have a good day I suppose

Karel

i don't think that's a matter of maturity and immaturity. let's be honest, kpop as a genre, has always been intended not just to attract people through music but through the idols itself and how they try very much to interact with their fans. that's why they do variety shows, vlives, fanmeets. so when you try to immerse yourself into the music side of these groups, you also get a glimpse of what happens around their music. for example it gets irritating when you see particular fandoms harrassing other artists online. sometimes you can't help but get turned off from the whole group because kpop culture is having these fandoms associated with their idols.

Karel

calling me narrow-minded for having an opinion that's not same as yours? i said i enjoyed their older music, and you're already so triggered? i wonder how you live your everyday life. more maturity to you. hope you can learn that sometimes opinions can differ and that doesnt mean you're more "broad minded" than everyone else. being "broad minded" means respecting other opinions, no matter how different from yours, you know. EDIT ALSO: cool, we really shouldn't care about people's opinion on music. music preferences should be a personal thing. i called you triggered bc a simple opinion that's not even directed at you set you off. but maybe that wasn;t the right term and i'm sorry as well.

Karel

i love gdragon but that's so funny lmaoooo. you should memorize all members of all kpop groups from now on if you dont wanna get doxxed!

Snax

EDIT: I'm sorry. I told myself I have to try not to judge or look down on people as much anymore. I can't change how you view life. Do you. Have a good day.

maha

@ karel, i love love love seventeen but i think it's absolutely insane how their fandom gets self labeled as the "healthiest" or "peaceful" fandom when that's not true at all 😭 the way fandoms see their own community is always so interesting.

erinshima

BTS is hands down my favorite group. They write and produce all of their own music, and span all genres. Most importantly, they good people. All of the music comes with message and meaning, and they stand for something. The hate they get is real - from even before they got to the top. I won’t lie, their English tracks are my least favorite. But their discography is extensive and there’s a lot for you to choose from depending on what you wanna listen to. The dancing is also on point and intense, which you have to check out. So buckle up :) But I really hope you will give them a shot 💜

Jude

Seventeen fandom is healthiest LMAO. Where??? A hater in disguise. It seems you have really bad beef with ARMY that made you even comment about bts music changing to more pop side but the funny thing is the whole kpop is inspired by US pop. How ignorant your statement looked. I've been into kpop since 2006 seen it all but artist like bts is a once a life time. Hard pill for you to swallow.

Jude

Toxic fans are everywhere in every entertainmemt industry. Football fans have toxic fans too. I can't relate with what you said because i only take the positive side of it. If the negetivity affects your love of being a fan to a certain group then you need to stay away for your mental health. it's not worth it.
