17:00 Lee spittin facts. Like Canute's new reign is good and all but we all know that shit wasnt going to happen if he never conquered using force to begin with. He showed the English he has the capability to take over them but chose to relinquish much of his control and thus gained their trust. I know Thorfinn did alot but I think some ppl give him TOO much credit. Sure he hit Canute with the talk no jutsu but it worked because Canute knew him personally so seeing this new Thorfinn gave Canute hope that ppl can change.

Agreed, peace through overwhelming strength is the easiest way to achieve peace. Nuclear bombs were that peace through sheer strength of essentially dropping a sun on your enemies, warfare really hasn’t been the same since then, too much of course there are exceptions to the rule

I just realised as I was listening to the pre-episode discussion, that Thorfinn had to literally turn the other cheek a hundred times to get to have peace talks with King Canute. That aside, regarding the Thor-related names in the show, Thorkell and Thorgil are still going for the Kill, where else Thors and the adult Thorfinn have moved on and have no enemies.
